- Obsidian Aspect: Like the Talismans of Concentration wielded by Sorcerers of old, the Obsidian Talisman boasts the ability to significantly augment the wearer’s ability to manipulate the Force. Additionally, the artifact bestows upon the wearer a modest sum of mental clarity - thereby allowing them to focus despite the common, battlefield challenges.
- Double-Edged Sword: Talismans of Concentration were rarely - if ever - utilized on the battlefield due to the severe toll placed upon the wearer’s reserves. The Obsidian Talisman has inherited this trait to a degree, as the strain experienced by the wearer is directly proportional to the size of the Force manipulation. The more the Talisman is utilized, the quicker the wearer is removed from the battle.
- Alchemy’s Bane: As is the case with all items crafted by the Force, the Obsidian Talisman loses the full extent of its abilities in the Neutral Bubbles projected by Ysalamir. Similarly, the effectiveness of the Talisman is severely reduced when exposed to the dampening radius of Voidstone. In addition, extreme exposure to the Light Side of the Force can damage or destroy the Talisman.

Shortly after the modern Confederacy’s return to the Galactic stage, a soldier took up her rifle. Though her words were few, she stood boldly upon every battlefield that the Confederacy charged. She risked life and limb for the cause of freedom - and ultimately climbed the ranks of the Knights Obsidian. As her time among the nation advanced, so too did her knowledge, her power, and her renown. Now, the warrior named [member="Kurenai Yumi"] had ascended to the rank of Master in the Force.
The Obsidian Talisman is a symbol of this momentous accomplishment. The Knighthood which proudly calls Kurenai their own recognizes this step as more than an increase in strength. They see Mastery as the possession of wisdom, experience, and discernment. The Talisman personally crafted by Darth Metus attests to this mindset - as only a wise mind can utilize it effectively. In the hands of a novice, the Talisman can and will provide a brief moment of extreme might; but at a mighty cost upon the body.
Therefore, the wise mind of a true Master is required to make the Obsidian Talisman shine. When wielded effectively, common abilities can be ascended to much more - at a pace that would not immediately remove the combatant from battle. But moreover, any within the Confederacy who lay eyes upon the serpentine bangle will know that they are in the presence of one they can follow into battle.
