OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Oasis
  • Classification: Cantina
  • Location: Steadfast, Jakku
  • Affiliation:
  • Accessibility: Easily accessible. The Oasis sits in the middle of the podunk town of Steadfast, open to all travelers who may want a drink.
  • Description: Like the rest of the village, Oasis is nestled in the ruins of an old star destroyer. It sits in an opening on roughly the third floor, a metal "sign" (just a piece of scrapped hull) with the name carved in it's only identifier. On the inside, it's dingy and dirty, it's patrons no exception.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Bar: What would a cantina be without a place to drink? The main draw to the location is it's promise of alcohol, thus the counter is always busy. However, it's not very well stocked- people of Jakku aren't known for their deep pockets, so you typically can only order whatever poison the vendor had on special that week, or the Jakku made knockback nectar. There are a few tables around the open area for customers to sit and enjoy their order.
  • Bounty Board: With few citizens having regular access to technology, a holoboard was added for the people at large to use. It syncs to the holonet and adds contracts for targets expected to be in the area.
  • Backrooms: A single door leads to a small office in the back. Behind a cabinet sits another door. It opens up to a room about the size of the main bar, with three tables. Illegal gambling operations run throughout the nights, but for the bartender to send you back you must know the code word: Steelpecker.

SECURITY: Low
  • A blaster rifle beneath the bar. Simple, but effective.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
As the Old families became recognized in Steadfast, each looked to create their own lucrative business. While others went on to form The Steadfast Salvaging Guild, the Zechials sought another path. They saw a market in the clans and visitors that frequented the small town, and chose to cater to them. The room was staked out and claimed, minor repairs made to the damaged ceilings and floors. Named for the deserts around them, the "Oasis" offers an escape from the harsh sun and dry environment outside. For the people of Steadfast who had been left wanting for so long, the cantina was an immediate hit. Many a night the facility was crowded, people enjoying one another's company. Eventually, the immediate awe wore off, and profits began to dip. The Zechials had to search for other ways to make money- establishing the backrooms and the bounty board. Business now remains steady. The cantina has been passed down through generations. It's current owner, Shed, maintains his family legacy by keeping the lights on. He chose to sell a share to the Commerce Guild of Jakku when it was formed, in order to gain a place on the council, and hopefully spur profits when the planet stabilizes.
