STRENGTHS
  • Apex of Comfort: Designed by the rich, for the rich, even regular suites are beyond comfortable, with the Royal Suites being suitable for plutocrats and interplanetary nobility. Add to this a truly vast range of amenities and you have a very, very comfortable journey.
  • Defence Grid: The Oasis-class has a relatively hefty weapons complement - more than capable of repelling most pirates, especially when one takes into consideration its impressively powerful shield generators.
WEAKNESSES
  • Quality over Quantity: The Oasis-class is capable of transporting a truly massive amount of people comfortably. It is not, however, particularly well suited for mass evacuations and the like, due to the amount of space delegated to comfort and recreation.
  • Lover, not a Fighter: While capable enough against mere pirates, the Oasis-class is most definitely not suited for actual military service; even a light cruiser would be a serious threat to it, despite its size, and its power generators are housed in its wings to make room for even more amenities - an obvious vulnerability that would never have been tolerated in a proper military vessel.
DESCRIPTION
Larger even than the Imperial Star Destroyer of yore, the Oasis-class is designed as mobile luxury resorts, their massive frames housing tens of thousands of wealthy tourists, a small army of service staff, and innumerable amenities, most prominently the massive Oasis Domes for which the class is named - small ecosystems tailored for every individual vessel and often featuring bioengineered flora and even fauna!

While by no means a warship, the sheer concentration of wealth aboard these vessels necessitates potent defensive measures rarely seen on civilian vessels - and sometimes even a small escort fleet for especially dangerous journeys.

Like most Arctrus starships, the Oasis-class is heavily automated, requiring only a hundred crewmen to ensure the optimal performance of the vessel itself, with thousands more (and a veritable army of droids) being involved in the pampering of these vessels' guests.

In terms of layout, the bridge superstructure houses the entire crew, their facilities, and the primary bridge, with an auxiliary bridge being buried out of the way near the rear of the ship, though these are usually considered to be mostly redundant and rarely manned by more than half a dozen crewmen. The bulk of the vessel itself is reserved for passengers and amenities, occasionally interspersed with droid-manned "facilities decks".

The primary reactors, shield generators, and the bulk of the vessels' turbolasers are all held within the wings - as these are uninhabited but by droids, they tend to be the primary (and often only) target of all but the most psychotic of attackers.

NB! The Oasis-class is OOCly considered as "military vessels", per the Factory Rules.
