  • Recoil: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Rotating ammunition loading chamber
  • Electromagnetic Guidance system
  • Internal Ray shield
  • Excess heat release valves
  • Internal Coolant system
  • Anti-jam & locking mechanism
STRENGTHS
  • Long Range: As expected from an electrothermal Plasma Railgun, it is capable of propelling projectiles at a very high speed, allowing for an incredible range to be achieved with every shot fired. Due to the accumulated knowhow in this field, the NZ ER-1 can boast an impressive range without the usual disadvantages that come with it.
  • Very High power: In the same vein as with the range this weapon can have for each shot, the general velocity at which the used slugs and projectiles are exiting the barrel and traverse the battlefield with each shot is of such an incredible rate that it is to be expected that these projectiles will have high pressure and high speed impacts, thus increasing the general stopping power of this weapon to impressive levels of destructive capacity.
  • Reliability: Due to the various systems in place to make the best use of this weapon, the NZ ER-1 can boast a whole lot of safety features to ensure it's longevity in battle, including such systems as mechanical heat excess valves, an internal coolant system and an internal ray shield to better protect the weapon's mechanical and electronic parts from both inside and outside factors.
  • Ease of use: Thanks to a heavy support platform, innovative, yet simple solutions to common issues in regards to weapon placements of its type, the ETR-1 can boast that it has no operational drawbacks and thus paired with its general reliability can be seen as a useable weapon for any fleet or faction, as military training and schooling for the use of this weapon is less extensive than for comparable models and weapon placements.
WEAKNESSES
  • Size : A weapon of this size has limitations in the options of ships which could have this weapon be placed upon and installed on them, no ship of less than 1000m will be capable to install a weapon of this size.
  • Weight: As it's size might have suggested, the NZ ER-1 is a very heavy placement, usually reserved for the likes of star destroyers and heavy cruisers.
  • Minimal Rotation Platform: As the weapon is anchored directly to the ship, it is incapable of rotating sideways, with the barrel itself only capable of vertical rotation of up to 45 degrees.
DESCRIPTION
After the recent expansion within the market of ship-based weapon placements, the N&Z Umbrella Corporation had set their sights on yet another mass market product, in this case the market of the large and heavy mass driver cannons. Nargath Holdings, the main subsidiary of the large corporation, was tasked to use its expertise in its more unique and limited weapon production designs to come up with a reliable and sturdy design for a slug propelling Railgun placement. Thus by taking inspiration from few of its other products, Nargath Holdings was capable of coming up with a high quality and quantity Electrothermal Railgun placement which would use simple, yet effective innovations to improve upon already existing designs within its class.

The NZ ER-1 was built as a mass driver cannon of the Electrothermal variety, meaning that it would use electric currents to superheat the chemical component's within a slug's combustion chamber to turn the chemicals into a plasma which under high compression would then be let off in a controlled explosion, which would then force the projectile at very high speeds though an electromagnetically charged barrel with electrically charged guiding rails, allowing for a relatively smooth and highly accurate shot. Thanks to a simple rotational reloading chamber with space for up to eight large scale projectiles, the ER-1 can boast a decent average firing rate and subsequent reloading time.

Thanks to its mass-produced nature, the ER-1 is readily available for any aspiring fleet or navy for purchase at one of our many officies within the galaxy.
