“Blades Beneath the Veil”
The Eyes, Ears, and Hidden Hand of the Iron Covenant

OVERVIEW
Where the Verd’kandar defend the sanctity of Kestri and the Mythos Fleet strikes across the stars, the Nynir’kad move in shadows - unseen, unheard, unforgettable. Known as the “Veiled Blades”, or more formally as the Blades Beneath the Veil, they are the intelligence, espionage, and covert operations division of the Iron Covenant.
They are hunters of secrets, keepers of lost truths, and cutters of threads before they can weave into threats.
They do not wear sigils. They do not march. But their work is etched into the victories no one can explain - and into the survival of the Covenant itself.
PURPOSE AND MANDATE
The Nynir’kad safeguard the Iron Covenant through knowledge, subterfuge, and silence. Their members serve not for glory, but for survival - of their people, their myths, and their home.
Their threefold directive:
- Pierce the Veil: Gather intelligence on foreign powers, threats, technologies, and opportunities across the galaxy - including Mandalorian exiles, bounty hunter guilds, Imperial remnants, or Jedi enclaves.
- Shatter Deception: Infiltrate hostile networks, uncover betrayal within the Covenant, and dismantle misinformation before it festers into conflict.
- Strike Without Sound: Neutralise threats through assassination, sabotage, information warfare, and psychological operations - but only when the myth demands it.
They answer only to the Rekav’dral and operate under oathbound silence.
DIVISIONAL STRUCTURE
The Nynir’kad is divided into specialised cadres, each fulfilling a distinct role in the Covenant’s covert ecosystem. Cadres may operate independently or merge into a strike-web for high-level operations.
I. The Eidolon Veil
Infiltrators, deep-cover agents, and sleeper operatives. They disappear into other societies and galactic structures - as diplomats, mercenaries, traders, or ghosts - feeding information back through encrypted rites. Some go years without contact, some are already embedded among the Covenant’s enemies. They are also signal-breakers, slicers, and cryptoseers. They handle decryption, counter-surveillance, signal jamming, and network warfare. They intercept political chatter, galactic news, and hyperlane data, assembling vast archives of redacted truth.
II. The Ghostblades
Assassins, silent saboteurs, Bounty-Hunters and myth-killers. Called upon when diplomacy fails and war is not yet wise. They act with finality — and without trace. Some wield traditional beskad, others microblades, neural disrupters, or shatter-rounds. Their motto: “Only the void remembers.”
TRAINING AND BELIEF
To be inducted into the Nynir’kad is to shed the ego. They train at Shad’kar, the Black Keep in Kestri’s wilds - a fortress said to hold echoes of the first betrayals.
There, recruits learn:
- Dul Akaan: The art of emotional stillness under duress
- Trakar Mhi: Myth-woven infiltration training across dozens of cultural masks
- Rokor Kelborn: The ritual of memory-hiding, so that a captured agent cannot betray truths they once knew
Their creed is passed by whisper, never by record:
“Our honour is not in being seen, but in what will never be known.”
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER DIVISIONS
The Nynir’kad report directly to the Rekav’dral, through the Veilbound and Echo-Speaker, though in times of war they may coordinate with the Mythos Fleet or embed agents within the Verd’kandar for internal security.
Despite their shadowed nature, the Nynir’kad are respected among the Covenant. Their oaths bind them not to power, but to myth - ensuring they protect not only lives, but the legends that give those lives meaning.
SYMBOL
A half-lidded eye formed by two interlocked blades, etched into obsidian, is the secret mark of the Nynir’kad. Few ever see it - those who do are either part of the Veil… or already marked by it.
