OVERVIEW
Where the Verd’kandar defend the sanctity of Kestri and the Mythos Fleet strikes across the stars, the Nynir’kade move in shadows - unseen, unheard, unforgettable. Known as the “Veiled Blades”, or more formally as the Blades Beneath the Veil, they are the intelligence, espionage, and covert operations division of the Iron Covenant.
They are hunters of secrets, keepers of lost truths, and cutters of threads before they can weave into threats.
They do not wear sigils. They do not march. But their work is etched into the victories no one can explain - and into the survival of the Covenant itself.
PURPOSE AND MANDATE
The Nynir’kade safeguard the Iron Covenant through knowledge, subterfuge, and silence. Their members serve not for glory, but for survival - of their people, their myths, and their home.
Their threefold directive:
- Pierce the Veil: Gather intelligence on foreign powers, threats, technologies, and opportunities across the galaxy.
- Shatter Deception: Infiltrate hostile networks, carry out counterintelligence strikes, and dismantle sabotage.
- Strike Without Sound: Neutralise threats through assassination, information warfare, and psychological operations.
Nynir'kade operatives answer only to the Rekav’dral and are bound in silence by oath.
DIVISIONAL STRUCTURE
The Nynir’kade is divided into two specialised cadres, each fulfilling a distinct role in the Covenant’s intelligence network. The entire division operates as one cohesive web, while multiple agents from either cadre may be assigned to particular missions as needed.
I. Ulur'ade
Infiltrators, deep-cover agents, and sleeper operatives. An Ulur'ad disappears into the larger galaxy, establishing safehouses, feeding information to the Mythos Fleet through encrypted rites. Expert signal breakers, slicers, and cryptographers, their passive intelligence and stored assets are critical to the intelligence operations of the Iron Covenant. They handle decryption, counter-surveillance, signal jamming, and network warfare. They intercept political chatter, galactic news, and hyperlane data, assembling vast archives of redacted truth.
II. Runi'kade
Assassins, Saboteurs, Bounty Hunters, Spies. They do not fit cleanly under one parameter; rather, they are highly-skilled warriors who can carry out whatever covert mission the Iron Covenant needs. They operate without a trace, and their marks often do not see the end coming until it is too late. Many expert bounty hunters and lone gunslingers make up the Runi'kade cadre.
TRAINING AND BELIEF
Warriors deemed trustworthy and capable are chosen from the Iron Covenant's elite, and wear their charge in secret, seamlessly melding into the horde of the Mythos Fleet. They train at Ne'tra Braar, a secret prison-fortress in Kestri’s wild, barren Ghat'dhatigar- the location of the darkest cells of the galaxy.
There, recruits learn:
- Mirjahaal: The art of emotional stillness under duress.
- Shev'a Taab: The ability to blend into cultures and meld into crowds.
- Nuhaatyc Gaan: Mental conditioning against the Force, Torture, and Memory Extraction, so that a captured agent cannot betray truths they once knew.
Their creed is passed by whisper, never by record:
“Our honour is not in being seen, but in what will never be known.”
RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHER DIVISIONS
The Nynir’kade report directly to the Rekav’dral, through the Eya'jorhaayc, though in times of war they may coordinate underneath an appointed Baja'oritsir to coordinate mass operations with the Mythos Fleet.
The myth of the Nynir’kade precedes it. They are respected among the Covenant, though barely understood.
SYMBOL
Traditional Jaig Eyes, made of two interlocked blades, are the secret mark of the Nynir’kad. Few ever see it, and even fewer know the meaning of its mark.
