Speed: These Starfighters rely heavily on their speed to keep them out of trouble.
Mass Produced: Easily produced in vast quantities.
TIE Fighter: While the Nupperibo class Starfighters are fast, they are just as easily destroyed as the TIE Fighters once fielded by Palpatine's Galactic Empire. Little more than a cockpit with an engine and lasers strapped onto it; they're easily taken out with one well placed shot - or even a well placed glancing blow from an enemy weapon.
Where as Hellknights often pilot the more illustrious - though just as fragile - Erinyes class Interceptor; it is the Armigers, those seeking to become Hellknights, that are often given the undesirable task of piloting the Nupperibo class Starfighters. Smaller and thus more cramped than the larger Erinyes, they are just as fragile and easily destroyed as their larger Interceptor counterparts. However it is the sheer amount of these vessels that can swarm an enemy is what matters.
The Nupperibo is designed to be easily manufactured, easily maintained and easily fielded; with an emphasis on employed numbers to secure a tactical advantage over any kind of quality. Those Armigers that are lucky enough to live through their tours in these vessels and be granted admittance into the Hellknights are often upgraded to the larger Erinyes to train a new batch of Armigers piloting the Nupperibo.
