OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
When discussing countermeasures against Force-sensitive adversaries, ysalamiri are widely regarded as the gold standard for defense. Yet their utility is constrained by significant limitations. The organisms themselves are biologically fragile, their population scarce and fiercely guarded, and their nullification field indiscriminate in scope, suppressing not only hostile Force activity but also that of allied Force users. Comparable drawbacks have been observed, though to a lesser extent, in certain Force-nullifying substances such as void stone.
Mykel therefore pursued a fully technological, scalable alternative. His objective was to furnish non Force sensitive operatives, such as the Antarian Rangers, with a reliable form of protection while preserving the operational freedom of friendly Force users. To that end, he undertook an extensive study of ysalamiri physiology and the anomalous properties of void stone, seeking a unifying model for their apparent nullification effects.
His findings led him to reject the notion of true Force negation. The Force, as an omnipresent energy field woven into every particle of existence, cannot be meaningfully erased or deadened. Instead, Mykel proposed that these phenomena function through a form of stabilization: persistence of baseline reality, rigidly enforcing the fundamental laws of the Cosmic Force.
Force abilities, in this interpretation, are psycho-ontological intrusions. They impose localized edits upon the universal construct, temporarily overriding causality, probability, and physical law in accordance with the practitioner's will. Ysalamiri and void stone do not silence these intrusions so much as increase the energetic cost of sustaining them, forcing reality to "snap back" toward its default state. Within this framework, the so-called "nullification effect" is but resistance to deviation from the natural ontological equilibrium, achieved by increasing inertia against reality warping.
Whether this model is ultimately correct remains open to debate. Nonetheless, it guided Mykel to a critical technological breakthrough.
Drawing inspiration from null quantum field generators, which stabilize transit corridors during hypertransit, he engineered a micro-scale analog for realspace application. The device integrates a wafer-thin kyber crystal lattice with a purpose-built algorithm capable of detecting signatures of ontological distortion associated with Force activity. Once triggered, the system establishes a tightly bounded quantum stabilization domain around the wearer.
This domain does not rival the absolute suppression produced by a living ysalamiri, nor can the effect overlap or magnify with additional units. A sufficiently concentrated or powerful Force assault can overwhelm it. Its true value lies elsewhere: it compels hostile Force users to invest significantly greater effort to achieve the same effects. Over time, this produces an attritional advantage, narrowing the asymmetry between Force-sensitive and non-sensitive combatants and reshaping the tactical balance of engagement.

- Material: Common Electronic Components, Reinforced Duraplast Housing, Kyber Lattice Wafers, Micro Null Quantum Field Generator, Diatium Power Cells
- Rugged duraplast housing that provides the NFG high resistance from extreme elements, acid/caustic agents, indirect damage (e.g. shrapnel from explosions, glancing blaster bolts), and ion/emp damage.
- Generates a localized protective sheath (extending approximately 0.5 meter from every angle of their body.) that shields the user from direct Force-based assaults, including telekinetic manipulation, Force Lightning, and Force Sorcery, as well as from the psychic components of abilities such as Sith Battle Meditation, Force Cloaking, and illusions.
- Force-imbued items may experience degradation or complete loss of supplementary Force-based functionalities within the effective area of the field, retaining only their inherent enhanced physical durability if any.
- The wearer becomes functionally indistinct within the Force, comparable to the masking effect exhibited by Taozin, reducing detectability through Force-based sensing and degrading the reliability of precognitive targeting.
- Like any personal barrier, the NFG can be temporarily overwhelmed by persistent or especially powerful Force abilities.
- No protection from indirect attacks, like an FU flinging a boulder at the wearer with telekinesis instead of trying to directly manipulate them.
- User gains no Force based buffs from allied Force Users.
- Vulnerable to direct Lightsaber strikes.
- No stacking/multiplying effect like with Ysalamiri.
