DESCRIPTION

The standard New Star League ground transport is a concession to the dangerous and aggressive nature of internal NSL conflicts. The vehicle is able to act as a light armored unit, a troop transport, or a forward drone control center.

If carrying drone pilots, the vehicle can act as a drone controller, either coordinating with a command ship, or providing a local battlefield backup if links are disrupted. Up to four drones can be linked with the vehicle's rear command section.

Its lack of speed and maneuverability are a concern as it is not blessed with excessive protection, but it can bring to bear a great load of firepower and provide armoured transport. A single pilot's cockpit has internal space behind the pilot for up to four passengers, heavy troopers, ground drones, or drone pilots.

Armed with two twin artillery grade flak cannons, each mounted on the sides of the cabin, the groundwalker can lay down multiple fields of fire, while backing that up with blasts from its twin chin mounted ion cannons.

The pilot has to manage weapons, systems and drive the walker. To coordinate a battle link with friendly fighters, called drones, or battle droids, also referred to as drones, the vehicle needs to carry additional crew to manage the drones who are called drone pilots.

In military pvp terms, what this means where on a battle field generally all forces are coordinated via a command ship or HQ. The datalinks from that command position link friendly units together. What this vehicle can do is act as a small scale command link for up to four units, be they battle droids or star fighters. If communications are lost with the HQ, a field formation of walkers can each become responsible for a smaller part of the force. They can only do this effectively when they have the correct crew aboard.

An example of the usage. There is a battle between fleets in space and armies on the ground. The friendly command ship has been disabled. The walkers can take up the datalinks, for each walker they can send targeting information to up to four drones. The pilot does not 'fly' the drone, but simply selects targets or commands a shut down or return to base.

I hope that is clear and i have explained it well. Thankyou for your patience.
