OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: Mostly just to write down a new Force power from a High Republic book.
  • Canon: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: A Test of Courage
"I, um, should be able to detect someplace that has a lot of life, and if there are creatures living there on the planet it should be safe enough for us, as long as I have a good idea of what I am looking for. Right, Vern?"
"Yes," Vernestra said, nodding. "Good idea." It was a long shot. She had only heard a few stories of wayfinding. It was something mostly done by seasoned Jedi Masters who had practiced the skill their entire lives.

Thereafter a Knight and Padawan attempt it together and can only reach far enough to 'see' a portion of the same solar system where their ship is stranded. The Padawan, an empath, eventually succeeds at finding a habitable moon in the same system.

GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Media Name: Notes on Wayfinding
  • Format: Holodisc
  • Distribution: Scattered (various Jedi enclaves and temples)
  • Length: Under two hours
  • Description: A recording of Quill explaining his rediscovery of a forgotten Jedi power called wayfinding, and how to start learning it.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Jedi Master Jend-Ro Quill
  • Publisher: Self
  • Reception: It's a niche ability that takes years of practice; it's not going to revolutionize how the Jedi use the Force, so to most it's a bit of a curio.
FORMAT INFORMATION
When plugged into any holoprojector, the data disc produces a three-dimensional holorecording of Master Quill explaining the ability.

CONTENT INFORMATION
Around 200 BBY, some Jedi Masters were known to be able to practice wayfinding. This ability let them find planets and moons that harbored life. Quill considered it complimentary to, but completely separate from, instinctive astrogation. He also considered the power called life web a fragment of wayfinding.

Like other Jedi who were new to the ability, Quill found his range was limited to the planets and moons within the single solar system where he was. Being able to use wayfinding at interstellar distances - a few light-years or longer - would take significant practice and experience.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
After discovering this power in an obscure record, Quill created this holorecording to share it with other Jedi. He asked friends to distribute it through various enclaves and temples. It seemed an appropriate skill for granular, back-roads-style exploration, so he made sure to send discs to certain Lightsiders who frequented the Outer Rim and Wild Space ( Tiland Kortun Tiland Kortun , Aeshi Tillian Aeshi Tillian , Kaia Starchaser Kaia Starchaser , and Cotan Sar'andor Cotan Sar'andor , for example). He also sent a copy to the Jedi researcher Matsu Ike Matsu Ike on Ahch-To.

Looks great to me. Just one thing:

For ease of reference, could we get a link for Ahch-To?
