Non-Star Wars RP: Marvel Comics Edition

We don't need a deep story right off the bat, think of this as an introduction for all our characters. You don't need to weigh down an introduction with major plots and storylines, this is just how everybody's characters make their first appearance. And it's not nessisarily just a duel. Think of it like in comics or shows or whatever where all the heroes show up to accomplish a common goal (usually attack a villain, bank robbery, or something) and that's how they meet. Almost every comic has had something like that. :p

Again, just my opinion.

The beauty of this at this point we can leave this open to let people play a cannon character or let someone make up their own character. In making a character I would recommend when choosing your character powers, abilities, and limitations. There is a stark power difference between Marvel and DC comics. If you bring over someone with Superman’s power level you going to bring a imbalance into the story.

The Sentinel was a hilarious Marvel Hero. Superman-esk power level. Batpoodoo crazy and spent all day watching tv because he was afraid he would accidentally kill everyone.

Best... character.... ever...

Ok we’ve agreed to group. We’ve sort of agreed on a first easy intro thread for us to gather and met in. There is one slight aspect to that discussion that has not agreed upon. If there should be a in-depth story right off the bat. I think is a happy medium is a compromise. What ever gather us is a hint of something larger that is happening or going to happen. It may seem like some small problem that is not linked to anything greater. A dramatic build up and at the end of the thread our characters’s realize something far grander is happening. Dramatic build up achieved and we have a simple intro for us to gather.

Maybe it could just seem like a normal Marvel run of the mill random cosmic anomaly that drops a T-Rex right in time square. Heros and villains react in their own fashion and at the end of the thread we find out that is was not random and someone has the tech or power to poodoo time or open up a wormhole. Any thoughts, comments?

You're talking about the Sentry, I think.

Personally, I prefer character driven roleplay versus plot driven. Arbitrary threat equals dismissable consequences. I'd rather us just be where we'd be, and go from there. If nothing happens, then we know that, if this is to work, we're going to have to narrow our focus down from just "Marvel Universe."

There is room for all of this, I just know it. We do not have to start out like episode 3 with a fleet combat over Coruscant. We could just start out, ok we are all in New York. Some of us met if it is in a Night Club or other wise. Stuff happens we roll with it, rather then wishing to be stomped by it. Stuff happens either the heros step up or not.

What? Should we start it off with the bang or should we let a little scene first by having our characters do day to day things in New York first?
