Suggestion Non-PC Related Bounties

I've been enjoying seeing how the new Bounty Hunter system has been rolling out and the opportunities it provides. A small bump I noticed was in relation to bounties not involving a Player Character as the bounty target. Normally, you go into a thread, chase a target, there's some expectation that you coordinate OOC and work something out whether you successfully hunt them or they manage to escape. Whether it's one or more hunters chasing the same target, there's still probably that expectation of communication (Or at least courtesy of working out who will be writing out the ordeal whether it's in a public or a dedicated private thread).

My concern is specifically bounties that don't have a Player (Things like data extraction, asset recovery, etc.) behind it and then half a dozen bounty hunters all pursuing said target in the same thread show up to try and collect. I feel like there should be some system in place for determining who is able to say they successfully performed said bounty, and I'd rather the solution to it not being something like "I showed up before this thread where every other hunter is trying for the same bounty and said I got it, here's the private solo thread I did, pay me my money" or "Just figure it out". Personally, I think dice rolls and whoever rolls highest would be a neat and fun approach, but I'm curious what the community's take is. Because I'd at least like a chance to roleplay fighting my fellow bounty hunters over a snatch quest rather than someone just say the finished the bounty in a single post by grabbing it before everyone else did.

EDIT: This is not a jab at anyone in particular. I just figured it might be good to have some clarity as we work out refining the bounty system to make it cause less issues down the line.

I dont think this requires refinement. The system is pretty broad reaching and free forum. The problem your noting falls on the Bounty providers head first, before all others. If they don’t provide these restrictions themselves, why should I? If they’re willing to pay out repeating bounties, why should anyone stop them? This is equal parts buyers remorse and monkey paw.

I can’t slam Bounty Hunters for not taking their roles seriously, I can’t slam MFOs for not taking their licensing seriously, and then turn around to Bounty Providers and say “you’re off the hook.”

Its their bounty. Their responsibility.

If you posted a bounty that is infinitely repeatable because you have waffle brain, and you can’t pay it out, me (the bank) will repo your entire life. And then revoke your BB privileges.

Tefga Tefga Fair point, I do think that some parameters for the initial bounty would be a welcome addition to include on their part. Perhaps make the objective a GM'd thing that needs to be played out by the Bounty Provider.

But what happens when you got a bunch of different bounty hunters on the same one off bounty in a mexican standoff where nobody's backing down or out? Some people don't care whether they win or lose, others only care about winning. I think it'd be hilarious if everyone gets shot and no one gets the bounty, others might not share that sentiment.

What you have when that happens is an amazing thread. Wanna find two more bounty hunters and we'll go explore?

Thats literally up to the guy issuing the prize. If he gets reported for not paying out to everyone, and only one, and Staff looks into it and witnesses a mexican standoff of a major faction’s worth of hunters fighting - like, thats awesome.

I want that scenario to happen. Staff’s not gonna get mad we’re probably just going to dismiss the report lmao.

Creating more rules and bureaucracy hurts the chances of that happening imo
