As Empress of an entire planet Nimue dresses to look the part. Her royal garb usually includes a green scaled tunic and leggings, a cape with a furred collar, wearing jewelry both on her hands and neck and even in her hair, and the golden horned crown to signify her authority and position.

For over five hundred years the people of Effekt had lived under the rule of the Stromborn Empire. Once a world divided by independent kingdoms Effekt’s political situation had been in constant flux. One kingdom holding some form of power of another, forcing a steady peace among them. It was the House of Stormsom that ruled the kingdom of Benda that began to campaign to take over the other kingdoms through whatever means necessary, but it would not be until the arrival of unexpected visitors until they would see this dream made real.

Before the arrival of the first space travelers to discover Effekt, the planet itself could best be described as one of swords and sorcery and superstition. The most the people of the world had advanced was only managing to conceive the idea of the steam engine. When the first visitors arrived, apparently Rodian traders, Effekt’s highest ruling power, the Stromson’s, had seen their weaponry and technology as the grandest opportunity to fulfill their grand campaign of world control. They paid in valuable riches of gold, silver and the like in exchange for what the Rodians, and others who were soon informed, could give them. Stromsons had conquered the remaining kingdoms, overthrowing the other ruling houses, and establishing the Stormborn Empire. In their own grandeur of victory, however, the Stormsons had never considered if all members of the houses were executed as they believed.
House Borish had been the ruling family of the kingdom of Frezier, a land that had been both strong and cursed with what was long thought to be magic; it was not until exposure to the knowledge of the galaxy and its ways that it was later revealed to be the Force. The Borish family themselves were said to be descendants of some of the strongest magic users in all of Effekt, even some being members of the old Sect of the Skyborn; an infamous group of sages and wizards who apparently caused the destruction of what is now the ruined city of Kullcor. When the Stormson’s had invaded and used their advanced weaponry against them the Borishes were outmatched, many being slaughtered and/or captured for execution once Frezier was taken by the Empire. The only survivors were Marcus, cousin of the former king, Andromeda, his youngest sister, and Tyson, the king’s uncle.

With only the three to carry on the family bloodline the remaining Borish members had vowed to reclaim what was theirs and more from the Stormsons. However with this vow, and the fact that their family had been partially been betrayed because of underhanded deal made by the king’s own wife, Queen Esmeralda, Tyson Borish, the eldest member, had decided to re-decree a once abandoned tradition that he had always described as “The blood of a family is strong. But it can only be stronger when it is in and of itself”. Basically this had meant internal marriages and breeding between members of the Borish family to keep the bloodline pure and without risking any sort of treachery.
During the five hundred years of hiding, while Effekt became more and more accustomed to the new technology slowly integrated into its society, the Borish Family had stayed in the shadows, each of the newest generation still keeping to the traditions of the old. Cousin married cousin. Sister married brother. They became interbred into a whole new and “purified” house that had become something of an underground crime family. Any and all underhanded dealings and crimes against the established order of the Stormborn Empire were usually caused by them, but no one ever knowing they were the Borish House still alive after all this time.
Within the last fifty years the Borishes had believed they finally found the means to take the throne of the Empire for themselves. The current family members included Lord Gregory, his wife, Julia, and their sons Hans and Ziro. Along with Lady Iduna, the eldest, and her children Hannibal and Nimue. They’d planned to implant Nimue herself into the trusted staff of Emperor Victor Stormson, the then current ruler of the empire and Effekt itself, and eventually marry him before helping to depose him and place Nimue and her cousin Hans on the throne to become the new Emperor and Empress.
What Lord Gregory didn’t know was that Lady Iduna, his own sister, intended to have both of her children be married and take all the power for themselves; something both Nimue and Hannibal had seemed very keen on.
Growing up Nimue had always been taught and reminded of her family’s history and heritage, with a basic underlying lesson to hate the Stormson family for what they did to her ancestors. Understanding what was at stake, and what it meant, Nimue had no true confliction with wanting to kill the Stormsons and allowed her family to rule; though her brother Hannibal might have been a little more ambitious than her.
Nimue and Hannibal Borish
Like her mother, and many of the women members of the family throughout history, Nimue had been gifted with magical abilities which made her seem both ideal and stronger to carry out what was planned. This was what often made Hannibal jealous of her, wishing he had the power and the means to take the throne for himself. But given it was his sister’s task, and because only his sister could infiltrate and situate herself within the royal staff in the precise way, Hannibal had to settle for merely waiting until his sister’s task was complete so he could marry her and then claim the power and glory. To that end Hannibal had grown to see Nimue as nothing more than a tool, both for his own personal pleasure and means to further his line.
When she was old enough the Borish family worked on bringing Nimue into the Emperor’s staff by making her a nurse and personal handmaiden to Empress Delilah. During this time not only did she slowly poison the Empress with a potion that would slowly kill a person, both in mind and body with every serving, but she also worked on catching the attention and slowly seducing Emperor Victor.
The emperor himself had been known for many titles, both good and bad, he’d carried through his life. Victor the Great, the Belligerent, the Handsome, and even Victor the Foolish. He’d been known as a better warrior than an actual ruler, something that often divided the view of his peers, and even the people. This was something Nimue had hoped to use against him.

Implanted within the royal staff Nimuem under the false surname of Finch, did as she and her family planned. With every meal she prepared for Empress Delilah she added the potion that would slowly kill her while driving her mad. During that time she also caught the attention of Emperor Victor, she finding him as handsome as he found her beautiful. However the longer she remained as part of the staff the more she began to see the truth behind the Emperor’s life. She’d seen that the Emperor and Empress had no real love for each other, both barley seeing each other as often as possible. Even when it was announced that Delilah was pregnant she seemed less enthused it was Victor’s.
Two months of slowly wooing the Emperor had led to him calling on Nimue for a private meeting where he decided to confide in her his story. In reality Victor had been raised to be emperor, something he had no true love for. He didn’t want the responsibility that came with the title but his family, his father especially, had insisted upon it. When he’d finally become Emperor Victor was forced into marriage with another noble woman who’s family had been close friends with his. During his time as emperor he avoided most of the more trialing aspects of being Emperor and instead won the love of the people by being a great fighter and hunter. Such was how he’d claimed so many titles. This was why so many of the more traditional nobles had thought Victor to be one of the most egregious rulers of the Stormborn Empire.
After hearing his story, seeing how it was not all that different from her own, Nimue began to see Emperor Victor in a more sympathetic light. It was then that very night that the two made love to each other, something they would continue to do in secret from the Empress and all others.
For two weeks they continued to meet in secret, Nimue starting to become confused about her feelings towards Victor, and during this time the effects of the potion given to Delilah began to become more apparent. She was constantly sick, often worrying about the health of her baby, and would have sudden outbursts of irrational behavior that was considered a growing madness. However when one of her handmaidens had discovered what Nimue and Victor were doing Empress Delilah’s illnesses would have a very server reaction.

The following night the Empress called Nimue to her chambers in private where she called her out as an adulterer and a witch. Her mad ravings had spoken some truth, as she claimed Nimue had put a spell on her and hypnotized her husband, but Delilah intended to beat Nimue to death. She nearly did until she was stopped by Victor’s arrival. However as he tried to calm her Delilah’s madness had gone too far and, in a desperate attempt to “cleanse” herself and everyone else, she set fire to the room.
Nimue was unharmed, Delilah and her unborn child were burned alive, and Victor had sustained burns to his face and some of his body. Despite his disfigurement Nimue still cared for Victor and once the Emperor was healed enough, now wearing armor over his body and face, the two were married, despite protests by the noble families, and Nimue was made Empress.

Over a month passed and the rest of the Borish family had not heard any word from Nimue after she’d been made Empress. To see if she was alright Hannibal had visited her, finding out not only was she alright but that she was happy for her new life and marriage to Victor. Angered by this Hannibal reminded her about her family and what she was meant to do, threatening to expose her if she didn’t. After the visit Nimue began to wonder if telling Victor would not be better, hopefully he sympathizing with her as she did him. However she soon fell ill and was bedridden for a week. When she recovered there was a startling revelation to the cause of her sickness: she was pregnant.
Emperor Victor, so joyous to hear this, announced Nimue’s pregnancy that reached everywhere; including the Borishes. Fearing betrayal, as their ancestors had endured generations ago, the Borish family felt the only means to secure their future was to assassinate Nimue and her child. For the rest of the month they prepared before hiring the proper assassin.
One night Nimue was served her medicine, which was revealed to be poison. She’d recognized the assassin and called for her husband before she began to bleed from her womanhood. Victor, finding the assassin in her room, attacked him. But to Nimue's horror Victor was killed by the assassin before he’d managed to kill him. Still bleeding Nimue crawled to her dying husband and tried to confess her past, but he’d died before hearing it and she passed out.
Nimue awoke two days later, alive but at the loss of her unborn child. She was heartbroken by the loss of both her husband and her child but knew who was responsible.
Within a week after she recovered Nimue sent for all members of the Borish family, claiming they were invited to the royal capital to be rewarded. When all had arrived, Hannibal expecting to be crowned emperor then and there, Nimue had denounced them as traitors to the Empire and had all of them executed. All were burned alive before the kingdom and Nimue, turning her back on her family name of Borish and embracing her legally married name of Stormson, watched every minute of it.
As the still ruling head of the empire, Empress Nimue Stormson now rules over Effekt and plans to change the entire world for the better.
