The Nimbus Commandos
Recruitment has skyrocketed as the Commandos have opened their ranks to any offworlder who is willing to pledge to the Confederacy of Free Worlds. The training is brutal and few pass successfully, but those that do are a terror to behold in action. Masters in modern warfare, a squad of Nimbus Commandos can even give Mandalorians a proper challenge.
To be a Nimbus Commando is to be the height of a modern soldier. Honor codes, outdated dogma, and clinging to tradition are a thing of the past. To be a Nimbus Commando is to be a master of the practical. To be willing to do what ever it takes to achieve the mission objective. To this end the Nimbus Commandos are given the best equipment the Confederacy of Free Worlds can acquire; phrik armor, personal shields, the best blasters the private sector has to offer, and a legion of support droids to oversee non-critical functions to allow the Nimbus Commando to focus on what is important. Yet a warrior is more than their equipment. Nimbus Commandos are trained to be master marksmen, well versed in the most advanced and lethal martial arts the galaxy has to offer, skilled in anti-gravity combat, and skilled in slicing and demolition so that no obstacle, physical or digital, can hold them back from achieving their goals.
Yet just as the Jedi are known for their lightsaber, and the Mandalorian their armor, the Nimbus Commandos too have a signature piece of equipment; the Repulsorlift Skate. With this their speed is unmatched, skimming through the battlefield and dodging shots while returning with deadly accuracy. Few can keep up with the speed and power of the Nimbus Commandos on the move, especially after being hit with a booster-enhanced kick.
"The Republic ignored our cries for help until they learned that beneath all the mud our planet has a heart of ore! We will fight to defend our planet! We will send the Jedi home in body bags!"
- Alto Stratus, founder of the Nimbus Commandos
Ranks & Squad Structure
Nimbus Commandos are organized into Battalions (roughly 1,000 commandos) with a strict chain of command. Promotions are earned through merit and time spent within the Commandos. Due to the recent openings to skilled outsiders promotions are being handed out regularly to those with the courage and skill to earn the respect of Nimbus Command.- Alto Stratus, founder of the Nimbus Commandos
Ranks & Squad Structure
Stratus
The Stratus is the highest rank of Nimbus Commando. The position, named in honor of the group's founder, is responsible for an entire battalion of Nimbus Commandos and reports directly to the Generals and Admirals of the Confederacy of Free Worlds. While the Stratus is expected to serve on the front lines with their soldiers, their main task is to oversee the logistics of the battalion; making sure equipment is properly procured, training facilities maintained, and assuring the batallion is deployed to where it is expected to go.
Colonel
Below each Stratus are ten Colonels, each responsible for a company of Nimbus Commandos. Each Colonel is highly competant and respected and together they make up the strategic council for the Stratus. While the Stratus may have the final say on planning, it is typically the Colonels who manage operations directly; either independently when deployed by themselves or in joint command with other Colonels under the Stratus when the entire batallion is deployed.

Colonel
Lieutenant
Each Colonel in turn has four Lieutenants, each in charge of a platoon of Nimbus Commandos. The Colonel may make the big picture plans, but the Lieutenants oversee the details and the execution of the missions they have been tasked with. They effectively act as on-site mission commanders when the Colonel hasn't taken the field or is otherwise occupied. They are considered the lowest ranked officer within the Nimbus Commandos, but such a priviledge still carries immense weight and power within the Confederacy of Free Worlds.
Master Trooper
Beneath a Lieutenant are their two sub-commanders known as Master Troopers. These individuals are effectively apprentices that the Lieutenant has recommended for promotion into an officer. While not an officer yet the Master Trooper takes charge of a squad of Nimbus Commando Troopers to act as on-site command to aid the Lieutenant in accomplishing mission objectives.
Trooper
The bulk of any Nimbus Commando battalion are the Troopers, the 'rank and file' of the Nimbus Commandos. Those inexperienced with the Commandos assume Trooper to mean a simple footsoldier, but a Nimbus Commando Trooper is anything but simple. These brave individuals are the elite of the elite and have passed all the necessary training to act as some of the most elite infantry the galaxy has to offer.

Battalion Link: If you are creating a new Batallion rather than joining one which already exists, please create a codex Combat Unit NPC submission. If you are uncomfortable with the codex, and would rather have someone else do it, reach out to me (Muphinz) as I would love to help!
