Private Nice Day for Fishing Ain't It

She held on for dear life, trying her hardest not to squeeze. Breathe. That was important. It felt as if she was struggling to get the air into her lungs as they sped through the air, following the river down as they kept moving back and forth amongst the river, dipping every so often. Reina was at least grateful that Klar wasn't trying to make things worse for Reina. Tough love and all that to get her used to how fast they could be going.

And then they reached the lake. Where Reina could feel them picking up speed, moving faster and faster as the bike roared. It wasn't as if Klar would hit anything but that didn't stop Reina from burying her face into the Codru-Ji's back, as the water practically spat out against Reina's skin. At this point, even the water terrified her from how fast they were moving, but she wasn't asking to slow down. She wasn't panicking much. As terrified as she was, Reina had faith that Klar wouldn't let her get hurt.

It was amusing in a way. Reina was the kind of person to charge a problem headfirst. To fight through her fear. Yet in this situation, speed wasn't something that Reina could fight against. She was along for the ride no matter what. It wasn't something she could throw a punch again, or close her eyes to. Well, she had closed her eyes to the speed but that was making it worse. She didn't know how fast they were moving or where they were going. She assumed they were on the way back to the Temple, but she kept her face hidden in Klar's back, unable to see.

The lake was not overly large, so it was easy to see the other side when you neared one of the ends of the elliptical shape. Turning around the bend, Klar let the speed peter off a little - gradually drifting with momentum down to something perhaps a little more manageable. Mostly so they could talk with less wind in their ears. Klar sat up on the seat, giving Reina's leg an affectionate pat. The fleshy one, obviously. As cool as the prosthetic was, it coudn't convey her intended reassurance.

"You doing alright back there?" She asked warmly, one hand on the bars as she peered carefully back over her shoulder. "Got a rather tight grip, haven't you?" The Codru-Ji asked playfully. Now that they were at the speeder equivalent of a slow walk, Klar canted the bike lazily from side to side to bring them down to a more conversational speed. Give them a chance to cool down before Reina squeezed her guts out of her like a tube of toothpaste.

"Today's a bit of a whirlwind, innit?" Klar continued. Her hair, despite being tied up, was visibly a little windblasted and wild. Her eyes were much the same - the blonde was slightly breathless, but grinning ear-to-ear. Her tone became slightly more concerned as she continued, the high of speeding giving way to her usual emotional attentiveness. "I mean. But I think it's nice to get the heart racing, yeah? That wasn't too much for you, was it?"

"My heart...is in...my throat..."

Reina panted out, trying to get her voice heard over any noise as she slowly leaned back for a moment, raising her hand atop of Klar's. The Codru-Ji was trying to comfort her, so it was only fair if Reina showed that it was working as she squeezed her fellow Padawan's hand for a moment...maybe ever so tightly because there was still a bit of anxiety from all of this going on in the back of her mind.

"I'm only holding you this...tight because...you're so comfortable...Yeah. That's...it. A right ol' big teddy bear you are..."

Of course, Reina didn't actually know what a teddy bear felt like. She had never had one growing up but that didn't mean she couldn't imagine how it must have felt. She just leaned back to let Klar see the somewhat of a smile on Reina's face, even though all of the colour had drained from the red-head's face. It had scared her more than she had cared to admit and so....she wasn't going to admit it. Not fully.

"I...I don't see myself doing this...again. But it was fun. I'm glad...you have something you enjoy Klar. Going fast...isn't for me."

At least going fast when she couldn't control it. Part of Reina felt like it would have been different if she was the one driving. Because at the end of the day...It wasn't exactly going fast that Reina was afraid of. No. It was not having control over it.

That was a little disheartening. Klar found the experience exhilarating, thrilling, exciting - so many other words for fun. She couldn't blame Reina for not enjoying ALL of the same things as her, nor would she. Had she known what the root of Reina's problem with riding had been, the Codru-Ji would have happily offered to let her give driving a try, but she was not perceptive or knowledgeable enough to divine this. Yet. Mostly, she wanted to apologize for scaring her passenger inadvertently when she'd been attempting to share something enjoyable. Admittedly, she'd been showing off a bit as well.

"I'll take us back, then. Nice and slow." Klar promised warmly, giving Reina's leg a gentle squeeze of reassurance. "And if you'd like to walk, we can walk. Just say the word."

The speeder bike didn't exactly like being kept beneath 30 Kmh, but it'd take it longer than the trip back to the temple to start overheating. Probably. And even if it did, she could just get off and walk it. Lazily bringing the speeder back around, Klar began backtracking along the coast of the lake towards the river. Slow, steady, careful - and with no unexpected jumps or speeding this time.

As she did, Klar leaned back and offered a soft, pleading smile. "I'm trying to not apologize, but I will if you'll let me." She promised. "Are we okay, though?"

She had no clue that Klar had felt disheartened by Reina's response. Because whilst Reina didn't enjoy the ride, she was enjoying being with Klar. If Reina truly hadn't enjoyed any of it, she wouldn't still be here. Though at the very least, she could tell that there was something wrong when Klar said she'll take them back nice and slow. Reina knew Klar enjoyed the speed, and so she just leaned forward, wrapping her arms around once again Klar to prepare for what she was about to say.

"...You can go fast. It just means...I'm going to hold on tighter. If I squeeze, it's not me...wanting to go faster. It's...just me being scared. But I trust you Klar. No matter how scared I get...You won't let me get hurt."

And so she closed her eyes, enjoying the journey as much as she could. She wasn't sure if Klar was actively going to speed up, but the offer was on the table. More vulnerability from Reina. She was...trying her best to let herself be comfortable with letting someone else be in charge. That's when she heard Klar's question...and Reina moved her hand gently to rest it atop of one of Klar's.

"...You don't need to be sorry but I won't stop you...and of course we're okay. Don't be ridiculous. You think it'd be...that easy to get me to run away? You're stuck with me Klar...And...I guess I can be...clingey."

Klar laughed a little, grasping the hand that came to lay on her own. "I know." She promised. "I don't mind you clinging. I'd just prefer you cling because you want to, and not because you're hanging on for dear life." She explained glibly. At such a leisurely speed, Klar was able to lean back against Reina. Possibly under the guise of sitting up straight, but mostly because she was cruising comfortably and drank up physical affection like a neglected willow tree.

Even if Reina had given her blessing to go faster, speed was only a means to the eventual end of fun as far as Klar was concerned. If Reina wasn't having fun, Klar wasn't having fun. And if they weren't having fun, there was no point in going fast. All going fast would do was get to where they were going quicker, and that only mattered if you weren't enjoying the travel more than the destination. And travel? Travel was pretty nice.

Keeping near the edge of the river, Klar began making her way slowly along. Cruising. She idly traced small patterns along the back of Reina's hand and arm with her fingernails, pulling her bun out to let her hair fly a little - at this speed, it wouldn't threaten Reina, probably. Not with a crosswind. "What're your plans for the rest of the day?" Klar asked curiously. "Or did you clear your whole schedule for fishing like I did?"

"I am clinging because I want to Klar. Otherwise I'd be holding onto the bar...You're just...more comfortable. If you like speed, then we can go at speed. I just...like holding onto you."

Either way, Reina kept her arms wrapped around the affection drinking willow tree, resting her head against Klar's shoulder for a moment as she let her gaze start to look around. Now that they were going slow, Reina was able to relax a lot more and stop hiding her face so much, as she tried to blow a few strands of ginger threads out of her face.

"I don't really have any plans. I don't...entirely plan things. I do what I feel like doing...Unless Master Issar or Master Colette have a lesson planned for me...but most of the time, I've been studying by myself...They're good teachers. Master Colette believes in me the same way you do. She's...like me. I think it's hard for her to look at me sometimes. Because I remind her of herself...and I'm too stubborn."

As Klar idly traced the patterns along Reina's hand and arm, the redhead felt her heart skip a beat a few times. A glowing blush spreading across her face once more. It was nice. The affection. Reina's heart wasn't racing. No. But it was having a steady beat, even if her chest did feel somewhat tight. It was all...pleasant at the end of the day however.

"We can always do something back at the Temple...You can try readin' to me...or I can show you some sea shanties I used to write...or I could show you the photo of my sister I took on Corellia."

Klar hummed thoughtfully, pivoting and banking the speeder slowly back up the river. "Just showing me the shanties? We can't sing them?" She asked playfully, glancing over her shoulder at the redhead with an eager grin. "I might not be able to sing a lick, but I think it'd be fun to try!" She laughed. While she was certainly self-concious about a few things - and crippled by some of them - her singing voice wasn't one of them. Klar simply wasn't a good singer, and she'd made her peace with that. A part of her was still made to howl, after all. And to be fair, she was probably the best at howling out of any of the other Padawans.

Not that she was in a hurry to test that.

"I want to do all of it." She confessed brightly. "You're clingy? I'm greedy. I want to know everything there is to know about the people close to me, I want to experience everything with them." It probably wasn't a surprising or even uncommon trait among people who'd been left behind as much as Klar and Reina had. When everything and everyone in your life was transient, you came up with ways to try and put a stop to it - in Reina's case, by holding on tight. In Klar's case, it had more to do with trying to be as sweet as possible to encourage never leaving, and maximizing the time she DID spend with people. Experience everything, leave nothing up to wondering. "...but we can start with reading. I think it'd be fun to read you a story, and I know just the one."

The blonde swooped slowly past their fishing spot to ensure they hadn't forgotten anything - and then it was off to the Jedi temple to return the speeder and figure out what she was going to read to Reina first.
