“Behold… I will do a NEW THING…”
_____________________

A lone ship touched down on the soil of Verun. Months had passed since the devastation which wreaked havoc through Confederacy space. Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner , the Lord Commander of the Knights Obsidian had opted to remain behind so others could make their way with the fleet that had left Naboo. It had been duty which led him to offer his seat, and those of several who followed him, to civilians. He had been determined to find his own way after seeing those who could survive do just that.

Their duty was to the lives they had sworn to protect.

Duty eventually demanded Gerwald find his way back to the order he led. Darth Metus Darth Metus had allowed him the time he needed to see to his own people, and Gerwald had been thankful for it. The lupine had come to understand he would always be his own creature, and while his loyalties were unwavering, his ideals sometimes demanded he walk a divergent path.

Today he would discover who had made the journey with the rest of the fleet. Perhaps he would be led away again, perhaps he would not. Gerwald knew one thing about the season, it was the only certainty. Everything was uncertain.

He stepped off the ship to survey the planet around him. It was different. Nothing about it felt like home. Thought swirled about his mind as he made his way to the structure which he had appointed for the all those among the Knights Obsidian to rendezvous. Who was left? Who would attend? Gerwald had been forced to rebuild an order before, but this… this was different. Nothing about the path ahead was familiar to anyone. They would need each other in ways they had never needed each other before.

“Raise the sigil,” Gerwald ordered as he walked into the tent.

A nod was offered by the guard who stood near the entrance. Soon the sound similar to that of a ram’s horn blasted through the air. It was a call to gather all those knights who were near.

The call to assemble was sounded.

The Jedi knew that sound.

Starting anew on Verun had been a hard thing. The southern systems' end had left many scars. Literal wounds were rampant. Shortages were prevalent in terms of base needs. Yet still, the people endured. For their part, the Knights Obsidian pitched in as best they can. Some healed. Others protected. In the case of Josiah, he built. Most days were spent heaving pieces of wall into place or erecting prefabricated structures. The labor was intense, but necessary.

Security and a place to call home were priceless in the Expanse.

In the midst of yet another day, a familiar sound reached his ears. Mopping the sweat from his brow, Josiah squinted against the distance. The sigil of the Knights Obsidian waved against the light. And the call had been made. When last Josiah heard the call, they were assembling the body to decide what to do with the Eye. This felt like a lifetime ago...

But at least they too could start anew.

"Guess we'd better take a break." he said to his companions, before striding off to meet the Lord Commander. It had been too long since they had seen the Wolf.

It was good to know that he lived.

To some, the sound of that horn had been a sign, a literal calling to draw attention and make a statement. It was a hand reaching out, seeking those who were still left, those who might stand up and make an appearance, to gather and embrace those who made it this far.

...To a four year old child who had just lost everything in their life, it was a reason to balk like he had been shot and then wail uncontrollably.

A fact which made Eenia sigh very slowly and very tolerantly as she finished patching the wound the lad had gotten on most of the outer side of his left arm. Not from an attack, not from an escape, but from being a small child with horrid coordination and two left feet. "You're fine, its nothing coming to get you, I promise." she assured the boy when she finished, then she nodded to his mother and stood, wiping her hands off on a damp rag as she heard Josiah speak up.

Nia moved to the edge of the little make-shift set up she had made to tend to the boy, and then she squinted against the bright light to see as far as she could manage before she made a soft, thoughtful noise in her throat. Her things were then set aside, out of the way so no one else tripped and fell while she was away. "I suppose that we should." she agreed, and then followed in her companion's wake without much more comment than that over the matter.

Kyyrk, as per typical these days, had been standing along the walls, keeping watch with the other guards. The man had hardly rested, hardly slept in the days since the attack on Naboo. Some were justifiably worried about him. Others, those that knew him before, knew that the man had been wounded. Attacked. Provoked. His sense of duty would not allow him to rest until his people were safe. Kyyrk had spent much time considering the offer that Darth Metus Darth Metus had made him. Ultimately, he had agreed on a single condition: Not until Verun is secured. Only then would Kyyrk feel justified in leaving the front lines.

But it seemed the choice was made for him. A horn sounded in the distance. Kyyrk was unsurprised. The wolf had returned. Kyyrk knew what the summons meant. Gerwald wished to know who all had survived. Even though he himself had been absent for months. And in his absence? The Knights Obsidian had naught to look to save for Taiia Locke Taiia Locke . Kyyrk sighed quietly, turning from his post, walking down from the wall towards the tent Gerwald had claimed.

Kyyrk had almost visibly aged in the months since the attack. His hair, once a perfect black, was now almost the same silvery color as his skin. And upon his jaw, a beard now grew. It had begun as a scraggly thing, a devotion to matters other than his appearance. These days it was neatly trimmed, and whispers were rampant in the streets just what Alessandra Creed Alessandra Creed had threatened him with to ensure its upkeep. His hair too had grown, now hanging down to his shoulders in a thick curtain. rarely did he tie it back anymore, instead letting it hang loose about his neck and face.

His eyes squinted as he stepped into the tent, the dramatic shift in brightness blinding him for a moment. Kyyrk's gaze quickly found Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner , and Kyyrk knew immediately that the man had certainly not been on any vacation. No, the air about him was tired. Worn. If Kyyrk had to guess, he'd been one of the many who had returned home to help those unable to escape.

If only they could all be so lucky...

Teaching at the Medjai Order Temple on Verun
Aliza... had been floating around of late. She had helped out Kyyrk a little with his cave exploration project, which had also led to the startling change in her appearance. She wasn't sure how she felt about having silvery-white hair, but it definitely added something to her normally grave appearance, so she let it stand, for the moment. When the horns sounded, she looked up from one of the prefabs she'd been assisting with and tilted her head in curiosity. Shrugging, she told the supervisor "I'll be back in a bit." Setting her tools aside. Aliza, helpful as she was, still wasn't really committed to the cause... Aliza wandered over towards the sounds of the horns, wondering if maybe it was a chance for a new job. Luckily so far, she'd been able to stay off the forcie radar, surprising, considering how many force users seemed to inundate the area. Perhaps it was just how very unremarkable she tried to make herself...

Anyway, spotting a familiar figure walking towards the sounds of the horns, she waved to Kyyrk and fell in beside him. "Another dangerous something to explore perhaps?" Teasing in her tone as she alludes to prior conversations. Then she falls silent pensively and examines the other new faces, to her specifically, that were gathered at the meeting place. "Any idea what's going on?" She mumbled to her chosen companion, poor guy, perhaps he didn't want the spacer bothering him, but he was a familiar face, more than could be said for everyone else she had seen thus far. Aliza still had plenty of introductions to run through it would seem. For those who looked at the apparent spacer, Aliza was dressed in sturdy brown leather trousers, and a dark cotton blouse with a matching cloak tied around her shoulders, something to keep her safe from sandy winds or arid heat during the day, which coincidently broke up her outline into an anonymous shape with her cowl up if she was shrouded in shadows. Handy that. She wore black boots which completed the dark ensemble.

The Shinobi was torn.

When the inferno came to Naboo, Hisashi fulfilled his sworn duty. His oath to Clan Ee'everwest demanded that he ensure the safety of its members. So it was that he braved the monster infested streets in search of Teyla's loved ones. Fortunately, none met their end amidst the chaos. None that he was aware of.

In the wake of the devastation, recovery was a slow process. Naboo would heal, so would its people. But what of the shinobi's comrades? What of the Knighthood he stood alongside years ago. He followed the whispers and echoes to a region called the Shiraya Expanse, hoping to find an answer.

What he found was a reflection of Naboo: slow recovery and rebuilding. And for a time, he rolled up his sleeves - until the call rang out. Then, alongside the others, he rallied to the banner of the Knighthood. Stood before the Lord Commander and his fellows.

From behind his mask, the shinobi grinned.

"And so the Wolf lives." he mused, before raising his dominant hand in greeting to the others.

The Hunter disembarked.

It was strange, setting foot on this distant world. For what felt a small eternity, he had followed the Lord Commander's footsteps to the letter. When Naboo fell, the Wolf had given up his escape for refugees. In the wake of this decision, he, Rience, and a handful of others regrouped. Stewjon was the first destination, home of the Wolf, and then beyond.

Rience wanted to find where the remnant laid. More specifically, find her. There was no doubt in his mind that the vampyre survived the inferno - but he hadn't seen her since. There was worry. Pain. Sorrow. But as the Hunter grimaced against the brightness of Verun, there was hope.

For now, Rience lowered his hood and stood amongst his fellows. He hoped beyond all hope that she would hear the summons and come running.

The sound of the summons earned quite the distasteful sound from Cordelia. She had half turned in her protective shade and raised a hand to shield her eyes against the brightness of the sky as if she actually needed to protect her eyes against the glare. Though in that regard, its not as if she needed the shade either, yet used it anyhow.
"What could they possibly want?" The redhead groused. Personally, she did not care to heed the call. There was nothing here for her, and she had been trying to figure out where to go and how to leave. But, duty literally called and she huffed out an exasperated breath and abandoned her shaded hiding place to head towards where the others were gathering.
As she drew closer, there was a flicker of familiarity, enough so that Delia lifted her gaze from the ground in front of her to those who were already assembled ahead. Her brow tightened towards the middle and her gaze swept the numbers until it settled on the source. "Rience." She did not yell, she did not run or rush forward. The distance between the two of them was closed carefully with Delia mindful of the others around them, and once she reached him she said nothing. She just closed her arms around his shoulders to hug herself against him and buried her face between his neck and her arm.

She was washing her hair, it was needing more care with the constant working and travelling, the wet hair was almost brown which made her look more like her father than ever. She felt she was a far cry from being considered as attractive as her sisters and mother were but that didn't bother her as much as it once did. Now she was too focused on proving her worth, that she wasn't a liability and that her skills in the Force and Magick were on par with her peers. Dreidi began drying her hair as she thought about how far she had come from her start at the Confederacy. Back then she was new to the galaxy for the most part and didn't really venture out unless it was training with Asaraa. Now she was adventuring more and more on her own, finding her own independence and growing her skills as much as possible. It wasn't always easy but she was feeling better about her skills now. She only missed the days of band practice and hanging out with her friends like she did on Naboo. There wasn't time to playing her guitar and practice her singing right now, her days were filled with training and building a home on the planet.

Once her hair was dried, Dreidi started tying her hair into a braids as she looked at the training gear she had set aside to wear today. She only really wore these because they were easy to pack and didn't take much room. She hadn't even looked into buying other clothes like dresses, jackets or the different band shirts she once had. They were lost, lost to Naboo. She started getting dress and heard the sound of a horn. What that meant she didn't really have much of a clue but she knew that it was going to be important and that she should likely go. Throwing on her leather vest, the final bit of attire, she headed out of the place she was using as a temporary home and looked around. There were several people she already recognised heading towards the sigil and likely where the sound of the horn came from. She shrugged and decided to go along.

It was going to be interesting learning what was going on.

“Behold… I will do a NEW THING…”
_____________________

They all began to assemble, one by one, in pairs, or however the natural flow dictated. Gerwald had remained toward the back of the tent in the shadows simply to observe who would attend. Did he have an agenda for the day, no. He simply wanted to know who had survived. Eyes fell on each and regarded them as they entered. He bumped Lunara Azure Lunara Azure in the shoulder as a gesture his duty to lead this group had begun once again. How long would it last? Gerwald did not have an answer. He was needed here, and he was needed on Stewjon. Both pulled at him to create a conflict he could not resolve.

Josiah Josiah was the first to enter. The master had always been one of the first to arrive at Gerwald’s summons. It was wrong he had not advanced further than the position he held. This would have to change moving forward. @Eeina Vahn followed him in. This was a new development, though Gerwald did not know what kind of development it was as of yet. It was good to see the blonde free of the Sith that commanded her for a time.

Kyyrk Kyyrk arrived. For all his faults, and his passive aggressive demeanor, he was resilient. No doubt the attacks on CIS planets had hit him the hardest. He had been fighting to see that day never came, and it did anyway. Gerwald offered the man a nod. It was a commendation. They would see this abomination ended once and for all.

Aliza Vale Aliza Vale was a new face. Gerwald quickly looked her over, not sure if he had any opinion of her yet. She would need to be evaluated, but if she had survived and found her way to the where the fleet had settled then she was more than capable to help them rebuild.

Hisashi Hisashi , Rience Rience , and @Coredelia Malkavian came in short progression after each other. A voice broke the silence pointing out the truth of Gerwald’s survival.

“I live,” he answered after a time.

He looked at all of them once more.

“I am happy to see that all of you survived. Have any of you heard of others that have not made it here yet? Before we move forward… we must take stock of who lives.”

Eyes fell to the Echani. Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic .

“I have been watching you for some time. The devastation we have experienced makes certain demands of all of us. Duty requires that we step into roles we may not feel ready for. Do you understand young one? Are you willing to do what must be done?”

He let his question for her hang in the air.

The days that followed the attack upon Naboo had been hard for everyone. Perhaps harder still for Taiia. She had spent much of the intervening time recovering on Naboo while survivors were led into the Shirayah Expanse and this new world named Verun. The battle with the unmaker had left its mark on the crimson-haired Obsidian Lord as it did everyone. In the unmakers attempt to break the cycle of the battle between himself and Medjai. He had assumed she had been the last bastion of her power, in part he was correct. In his arrogance, he hastened to victory but ultimately was unaware of the threat she represented.

Alone Taiia was not powerful enough to stop him. It was true that a portion of Medjai's strength was within her, however, when he tried to end Taiia, the trap was sprung. Medjai's spirit infused itself with Taiia's reforming her and changing her, and at that moment she had tread into the realm of power beyond her understanding, and ultimately Medjai, through Taiia banished the Unmaker from the mortal realm.

Though most of her scars were fatigue and over-exertion, there were more permanent changes Taiia had to come to grips with. A part of Medjai's intervention had seen her change into an Eldorai, a particularly long-lived species with longer ears than a human. While helpful that Allyson Locke Allyson Locke found them cute it was still a bit of a shock, but as Allyson pointed out it could have been worse.

Taiia ventured out across Verun, letting her green eyes roam all around. A foreign world to them all, that was now 'home' that last part might take some getting used to. But in the wake of the Confederacy being dissolved, much was in question even within herself at the moment. The sounding of a horn drew her attention, knowing full well what it meant she started toward a tent in the distance. Where she could see familiar faces gathering, she walked slowly wondering what the reactions would be. Voph or Kyyrk Kyyrk would understand her feelings perhaps better than anybody in that tent, of that she would be certain.

(OOC Note: She is still Taiia Mataan as this is pre-timeskip)

Kyyrk glanced to his side as the spacer girl from before fell in beside him. He still felt guilty about what had happened to her, but she'd known the risks. And try as he might, Kyyrk couldn't defend everyone. "No, nothing nearly as exciting. The Wolf is back. And I suspect he has designs on talking us to death." Kyyrk smirked at his own jest, but there was an undertone of resentment. Not that he would have done things any different. Were he in Gerwald's boots, he'd want to be apprised of the situation all the same. "Lord Commander Lechner is the leader of our order. This is the first many of us have seen him since the battle on Naboo."

He held the flap of the tent open long enough for Aliza Vale Aliza Vale to enter, then followed behind her. Kyyrk waited in silence for Gerwald to address them, breaking his silence only to lean closer to Taiia Locke Taiia Locke . "I see I am not the only one to have benefited from Medjai's influence." He offered Taiia a look that suggested he knew what had happened to her. How could he not? Kyyrk looked around at the others, taking a position towards the back of the tent. He could not help but feel that he did not belong here.

Gerwald started this gathering with a simple statement, and a question. The observation that he was still alive, and asking if there was anyone else alive that wasn't here. "I think you will be hard pressed to find living Obsidians beyond this camp." Kyyrk did not speak with a malicious tone, but a statement of fact. Of information. Those knights who were not already present could not be relied upon. Either through personal venture, or because they were dead. "Many were lost in the battle, and the skirmishes leading up to it."

Kyyrk glanced around at the others, particularly Dreidi Xeraic Dreidi Xeraic when she was questioned by the Lord Commander. Something told Kyyrk that the girl was being offered a field promotion. But more importantly, something told Kyyrk that he should prepare for another backlash from the Wolf. Ever since his return, he'd done everything in his power to aid the Confederacy, but was always met with contempt, distrust, accusations of speaking out of line, and the like. Today, the man was a Knight of the order. For what it was worth.

For a brief moment he wondered why he was even here. For Gerwald to flaunt his power once again? Kyyrk braced himself for whatever retort his update had garnered. He could not abandon the Confederate Remnant while it was at its weakest. But it would not be there forever. Eventually, the settlement could thrive on its own. And it would no longer be his problem...

Running was an underestimation.

As the call was made, what remained of the Knighthood emerged. Rience immediately recognized some of the faces. Others were foreign to him. A new generation perhaps? Or recruits who joined just before the cataclysm? Nonetheless, the Hunter patiently waited as the Lord Commander began to address their midst. And as the Wolf began, Rience felt his heart move.

He saw her quietly moving through the midst, drawing closer. A shadow of grace through the shattered remnant. Quiet, as it to respect the sanctity of the gathering. But nonetheless, she was here. The Hunter's hopes were made manifest. It was hard not to smile as her arms wrapped around his neck.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." he said, barely above a whisper. "Traffic was awful."

With thus said, Rience simply held his beloved and listened to the words of the Lord Commander. Duty would make its demands - and Rience would answer. Especially now that he had found his home once again.

There was a lot of tension in the air from what Dreidi could feel, it hadn't been easy for anyone since the fall of Naboo and she hadn't been the only one to feel a little lost in what she was meant to be doing or how to continue her training. She was concerned how her training would progress moving forward with the downfall of the CIS, things were less certain than before but she also wasn't going to give up as easily. She was young and determined to work hard with this new way of life. Dreidi had been researching where Nightsisters might be located and where she could train her skills in Magick, while still working with Asaraa and working on her own Jedi training.

Looking around, all the older and more experienced Force Users were discussing, she attempted to remain quiet and in the background, at least for now. She was far from skilled in comparison to the others here and her combat experience was limited at best. Most of her real life combat experiences were limited to just sustaining a lot of injuries and having to be rescued by others. Dreidi didn't have skills in leadership or abilities in the Force. So when the Lord Commander turned and asked her a question, Dreidi felt her eyes go wide and doe-eyed like as she felt caught very suddenly. The turning of heads of others, looking at her expectantly to respond to the questions that Gerwald posed her.

"I am willing to do what is needed. To make sure that we can rebuild and strong, to train as hard as I can to protect the innocent lives that will call this place home." Dreidi stated, she was nervous and unsure of what was being asked of her, "I am always willing to do what is best to protect everyone and maintain peace." Dreidi was still a Jedi at heart, though she would fight and kill to save lives, she would stand firm in doing what she believed was the right and just action to do.

Teaching at the Medjai Order Temple on Verun
Aliza… wasn't really sure what she was doing here, on one hand, her instincts told her that gathering intel was vital. On the other hand, whoever in the galaxy would she report to with her findings. To be honest, she felt adrift, more so now after listening to Kyyrk's explanation of the man and his called gathering before them than ever before. At least he had a cause, direction. Aliza, didn't. "Wolf Hmm?" She grinned at her companion and considered Gerwald briefly, "I suppose I could see part of the heritage for the nickname?" Making the statement a question since she was making some rather obvious assumptions, best to get them dispelled soon.

Right, the Obsidian Order, he had mentioned that last time, well it should be interesting to see what this order was made of. Not for the first time she felt a pang of… longing? For the lost order she had once been a part of. Alas, Sith had this annoying tendency to allow emotion to over rule logic, with admittedly predictable results. Granted, the part she regretted the most was the loss of potential masters, and further chances at self-improvement. She knew she had weak spots and that was one of the most glaring of them, incomplete training caused by a few to many masters over the years. Perhaps the order might provide additional training opportunities, should the young Sith decide to expose her true nature. Why she was still hiding her true abilities after the time she'd spent among the Ascendancy she still wasn't sure, but it was probably just reflex left over from past assignments, besides, she felt like she could always share her true abilities later if needed.

She sighed and folded her arms before looking up at Gerwald silently. She supposed that he wouldn't have much use for a random spacer, but she'd been living by the idea of making herself useful around camp lately, so she might as well stick around and see if her apparent skills would be necessary. Granted, a freighter captain with a penchant for exploration probably wouldn't be in demand at present, but she'd never find out without putting herself out there.

Aliza offered a small semi friendly wave to the commander as he looked her over, before her attention transferred to the other new faces scattered about the tent, if everyone present was a force user, then she was definitely the odd one out, as such she stuck close enough to Kyyrk that it should be obvious she was tagging along more than anything else. He made a convenient piece of cover in her mind. Plus she could always pester him with additional magnifying questions, yay!

A hand went up to her right shoulder and slowly twisted one long silvery lock around her index finger as she silently considered the words that had, and would, pass between the members of this small assembly. "You have so many force users…" She murmurs softly to Kyyrk, sotto voice. A small smile on her lips as she admired how many powerful people filled the small tent, she was sure that if she opened her senses to the force their combined presence would set her back on her heels. Not that she was about to do such a foolish thing of course.
