After writing Kay for years and years and years, and with her very much being an extension of myself, the unthinkable has happened. She has turned to the Darkside. I'm a firm believer in fair play, give and take, and through such brutal treatment that she had been forced to suffer through, there was just no way for her to not succumb. She is normally a great escape artist, ask any of the dozen or more bounty hunters that tried to claim her bounty, but failed. Yet this time there was no escape to be had, no help or hope of rescue from those that are dear to her. So out of fairness for the story and through the fantastically well-played scenario that [member="Darth Prazutis"] created, ( http://starwarsrp.net/topic/100014-caged-in-dark-corruption/page-1) it seems that Kay will be dark for some time.

Now the scary part (for me)...I think that I'm far too nice to write the dark and evil, but I will certainly try. It'll be a learning process, much as it will be for Kay and if what I have her doing or how she's reacting is wrong, then please don't hesitate to reach out to me and let me know. I could use the input. This opens up a lot of new stories for those around her, as well as for her planet. It's a new direction and some will only be hearing about her Force sensitivity for the first time. So for all that this affects, I hope that you have fun with it :)

Now to do a bit of soul searching and try to find the dark, evil and cruel side of me that should be around somewhere...

Welcome to the Dark Side. Which doesn't mean 'evil', btw: but to be part of the Dark, one must embrace the ugliness of reality, and cast off the shackles of the optimist, the idealist, the 'nice' person. Life is brutal, mean and often unfair, and we of the Dark must accept this, and work with it. We will inflict pain and death if it is necessary, because that is the way to move things forward. Hoping that the big bad Universe will suddenly become a fair and equitable place is the purview of the naive - if you want it to be so, you must make it so. And that often requires harsh measures.

I am very curious to see if you have what it takes to see that through. It is an interesting journey you are embarking upon. It won't be pleasant or fun, but I can assure you that it will be enlightening. Let us hope that is enough!

I agree. The best dark characters aren't those that kill everything on sight on a whim. They do such things to serve a purpose, usually to fulfil a part of a plan. I'm not much of a strategic thinker, a lot of Kay's plans failed, especially when she tried to do things in the way that her enemies would do them...

But I'm taking it slow, learning to adjust as she's learning. I'm sure there will be tears for me as a writer when Kay confronts her friends and they see what she has become. I just hope to do it justice and not be a phoney at it ;)

When she confronts her friends, they should confront themselves, come face-to-face with the Dark and realise that they have been wasting themselves on the Light. They should see someone who is not afraid of the Dark, but has willingly embraced it. Absent that...well, prepare to defend yourself!

Kay was never afraid of the Dark as she had many friends and allies that used it. The Dark path was just never hers. She was always the optimist, the naive and hopeful one. But that kind of got beaten out of her after many months. But there will be no quick change back if it were to happen. She has gone through too much trauma.

[member="Connor Harrison"]

Yeah, yeah, I know why you're keeping an eye on this one :p Maybe Connor was right in not trusting her and always being suspicious afterall?

[member="Tiali Orazio"]

Best duo? :p Although Kay would have taken [member="Thraxis"] ' torment any day over what she's gotten on Panatha so far.

[member="Darth Ferox"]

Not going to hold a party, now are you, buddy? :p

You know...I'm a really good baker :) And when I get to eat food, I'll be looking for those cookies!

I had fun on the other side....otherwise I wouldn't of stuck around.

Yes, [member="Connor Harrison"] hinted as much to me. They'll have to bump into eachother at some point soon.

None of which is actually required for a "Dark Side" character.

I admit I have not been following Kay's story for a little while now but if I had to guess a convincing story for her would involve none of those things.

Some times someone just doing, in what could be called desperation, whatever it takes can be considered a Dark side act. Doesn't make anyone evil or cruel, or really dark for that matter. Her intentions can remain just as pure as they have always been. Only her methods that change.

Where as Kay used to use law and order to protect and punish now she uses hits squads and assassins. The goal of peace and prosperity for her people still intact just through elimination instead of rehabilitation.

My two cents anyway.

The Dark Side is like a vacation to Zeltros. When you do get back, well, at least have some naughty secrets to tell. :p

Thanks for those two cents [member="Vengeance"] :) It's a big help.

[member="Saint Monica"]

Haha, not a fan of Zeltros and what goes on over there :p

Hmm figured I'd throw in my two-cents as well. In general I'll always been a fan of the idea that the dark-side isn't inherently evil. Sure it propagates better through evil scenarios, but it doesn't require such. To use the dark side of the force is to open up ones emotions and draw from them as strength. Heck just look at the original sith code

"Peace is a lie, there is only passion
Through Passion, I gain strength.
Through strength I gain power.
Through power I gain Victory.
Through Victory my chains are broken
The Force shall free me."

The main concept being drawing from one's own emotions to become essentially free and without control. So I do not think you have to be evil going down the dark side, as another said it just changes your mentality on how you view things. And to be honest I generally think it's pretty cool to see dark side users that aren't necessarily bad.

It works both ways as well with the light side not always being good. Heck I feel KOTOR shows this wonderfully. The Jedi were basically complacent enough that when the mandalorians attacked, there first response was "Let's not get involved and think about thinks" as the Republic continued to fight a losing war and probably would of lost if not for Revan interfering. Or what the Jedi Council planned to do with the Exile. But even as far as the clone war era do we get the idea of complacency with the jedi order. Heck with Anakin Skywalker the reason why Sidious was so easily able to manipulate him was because he was the only one who showed care like a father to Anakin. Sure there was Obi-Wan but he was always more like Skywalkers brother. The Jedi order, instead set guideline, absolutely no love, no emotions, just peace.

So all in all The point I'm trying to get at is the neitherthe Dark Side or the Light Side are inherently evil. Just how people use them.[member="Lady Kay"]

So far she hasn't quite tapped into the Force yet as she had worn a collar to prevent that for four months. So it's taking time for the drugs to wear off. But she's being 'forced' to kill people to stop from being tortured more and to even have something so simple as a bath. Killing people in cold blood was something that she never did before. Even with her enemies, she would rather knock them out or try to reason with them. Her memories of all of those that she cared for have been taken away, making her even more isolated.

I haven't played the video games as I hadn't the time in the past few years with becoming a mommy. But I know a bit about their stories. Learning of the Exile was interesting as both her and Kay have the same power of influence. I just had no idea that it was a real thing...lol

Thanks for your input :) It's very much appreciated.
