GENERAL INFORMATION

Unit Name: New Plympto Wildlife Protection Service
Affiliation: The New Plympto Governing Council
Classification: Local Security Force
Equipment: While the armor and uniform are typical cloth and armorweave, and both have access to a variety of survival equipment, the weaponry varies depending on the branch of the service.

Combat Response Group

In addition, both groups have access to several other specific items
COMBAT INFORMATION

Availability: Common(Rangers), Uncommon(Combat Response Group)
Deployment: Mass(Rangers), Minor(Combat Response Group)

Strengths

 • Terrain and Wildlife Knowledge: Prospective members to both branches are required to undergo two years of training standard in both the local flora, fauna, and geography consisting of several courses. In addition, once applicants complete this training and become full employees, they are further required to take another year of specialized training in a particular field such as saurian creatures, mammals, geology, or various others. Following the three years of training employees must also take refresher courses every other year, with the final result being employees who are extremely well-versed in all aspects of the local wilderness.

 • Numbers: Even with the stringent requirements for acceptance a large amount of new recruits manage to pass every year, with an average of 600 passing the third-year exams and entering into the Rangers service, alongside an average of 150 entering the Combat Response Group.
Weaknesses

 • Equipment: Both services lack in specialized armor, primarily owing to their status as wildlife protection rather than a true military unit. Against low to mid-level criminals and poachers the Combat Response Group fares better than the Rangers, however neither are equipped for an engagement with properly equipped groups or military.

 • Combat Response Group Time Delays: While the Rangers are well spread out at various stations across the planet, the Combat Response Group only has garrisons in a small handful of locations. Calls for support to them can often result in long wait times before arrival, leaving Rangers or others requesting aid to fend for themselves for up to several hours before the CRG arrives.

Description

Organized initially as an agency to keep track of the local wildlife of New Plympto, the NPWPS grew over time, taking on various other responsibilities as their manpower and importance grew. Their primary mandates are threefold: protecting the local wildlife from harm via piracy, poaching, or overharvesting; protecting the local population from danger by disseminating information regarding the various creatures that inhabit the planet as well as geographical information and safe or dangerous areas to hike, camp, and hunt; enforcing all laws relating to these areas and creatures. Outside of the larger settlements and capital city the NPWPS is often the only sort of law enforcement available, and while various towns and settlements often have their own local policing force, the NPWPS is often far better equipped.

Split into two branches, the NPWPS enforces their mandates in various ways. The Rangers, which is the larger branch of the two by a much wider margin, takes on a larger amount of the work in proportion. Despite being an armed group they are geared more towards the non-violent aspects of their orders, having a heavy public presence and giving frequent lectures at schools to keep the public informed of both the dangers and wonders of their planet’s wilderness. They are also the go-to group when people go missing and require search and rescue efforts, using their resources to rapidly gather and dispatch search parties in all environments with an extremely high success rate to date.

The Combat Response Group on the other hand, despite being smaller in number, is structured and equipped for much more dangerous head-on combat situations, hence their name. With more of a military approach to their equipment and training, while also having the exact same training and expertise as the Rangers(from which they are recruited in many cases), the CRG is called upon when serious threats present themselves that the Rangers can’t handle on their own. Whether it be a particularly dangerous wild creature, or well-equipped poaching groups, the CRG is equipped to handle anything short of a legitimate military group, getting much of their weapons and ships directly from EODD as part of the company’s agreement with the local government.
