- Juggernaut - New Imperial Space Armor can take a serious punishment, and it is highly resistant to most handheld weapons up to and including all but the highest caliber of infantry-grade rifled weaponry. However, sustained fire over an extended period of time from handheld weaponry can still break parts of the suit, and anti-tank weaponry or starfighter mounted laser cannons can typically burst open a section of New Imperial Space Armor's plating in one or two shots.
- Added Firepower - A medium blaster cannon is equipped on each arm of New Imperial Space Armor, giving it considerable supplementary firepower on top of the trooper's own armament.
- Spaceman - New Imperial Space Armor lives up to its name: it is completely airtight and contains an oxygen tank large enough to allow a trooper to stay in the vacuum of space for ten hours at a time.
- Slicer - Using an arm-mounted laser cutter, New Imperial Space Armor can slice through the hull of a corvette or frigate and breach its halls.
- Dead Weight Floating - If the Space Armor's jetpack is disabled or destroyed, then a spacetrooper will be left at the mercy of outer space unless rescued, captured, eliminated, or otherwise transported by an outside force.
- Short Circuited - The considerable conductive bulk and circuitry of New Imperial Space Armor makes it extremely vulnerable to ion and EMP attacks, which can render a spacetrooper immobile for several minutes to indefinitely depending on the strength of the strike.
- Weight of the World - Space Armor is extremely heavy, often doubling or even tripling a trooper's weight. Only the strongest and most diciplined of stormtroopers can take up the mantle of a spacetrooper and wear their characteristic armor. Even among the capable, Space Armor is cumbersome and unwieldy when used under the effects of a typical gravitational field such as the one generated on a planet or inside a sealed ship.
- Small Man On Campus - In boarding engagements, spacetroopers are sometimes intercepted by starfighters. Space Armor's blaster cannons fire bolts too slow to keep up with most starfighters, and even those that do hit often have difficulty penetrating the deflector shields and slanted plate armor found on most modern fighter craft. On the other hand, starfighters can very easily outpace and outmaneuver spacetroopers in their armor, and a single burst of cannonfire is often enough to break Space Armor apart and kill the trooper within.
- Back Problems - While Space Armor is very difficult for conventional firepower to penetrate, it does have a weak point. If its jetpack is sufficiently damaged while it still has fuel, then the fuel might leak from the jetpack and burst upon ignition. Since the suit's oxygen tank is right next to its jetpack, the explosion will be amplified enough to instantly incinerate the Space Armor and the trooper inside. Additionally, the oxygen tank can be burst to deliver a much slower and more painful death via suffocation if burst in the vaccum of space.

As with many other NIO armor designs, New Imperial Space Armor was largely inspired and modeled after Imperial spacetrooper armor. However, some armaments were removed to strengthen the plates and jetpack of Space Armor. New Imperial Space armor is a formidable presence on a battlefield, with spacetroopers towering over most of their opponents. With their medium blaster cannons, they can tear apart infantry and barricades while shrugging off countless bullets. Yet spacetroopers still exercise caution - overconfidence can easily cause the death of a spacetrooper, especially to stealthily placed heavy armaments.
Spacetrooper strategy typically involves being launched out of the hangar of a corvette, frigate, or shuttle and onto an enemy warship, where the trooper uses their drill to open a hull in the ship and suck crew members into the vaccum of space. Then, keeping their back away from their enemies, a spacetrooper will enter the bridge and commandeer the vessel for the New Imperial Order to reuse.
