Following Coren Starchaser’s trip to Zonama Sekot in 874 ABY, with several Jedi from various Orders but centered around the goals of the Ossus Initiative of the Scar Worlds, Sekot allowed many Jedi and other capable pilots to construct and ‘birth’ specialized Sekotan starships for the purpose of assisting in the recovery and rebuilding of worlds devastated by war. calls her pet project Project Preservation, Sekot did not realize this and began calling it Project: Revival.It could be due to Sekot taking an active role in one part of the galactic stage, or it could just be a writer error and now it was going to be a plot point. Whatever.
The New Dawn was born after pairing with 5 Jedi from the Praxeum’s Explorer Corporation. Five beings, including 2 Human Jedi Masters, 1 Ithorian Jedi Master, 1 Mon Calamari Jedi Knight and 1 Wookiee Jedi Knight were selected by Sekot to be the crew and commanders of the New Dawn. After pairing with nearly 4 dozen seed partners, New Dawn began to be formed, and shaped, in the Sekotan manner. As the vessel was to be used by numerous species, but for a singular goal, preserving and revitalizing worlds that had become devastated by war.
New Dawn has a mixed array of weapons and defensive systems working in tandem to protect itself and its mission, but like most Sekotan vessels, her engines and hyperdrive are her primary defense. The ship understands its own mission from Sekot, but the linked minds of her seed partners assist her in the process and understanding the full depth and range of the project. Like many Sekotan vessels, New Dawn will remove itself from the equation, fighting to defend itself, and to escape. If she is used for a strike, she will just shut down her offensive weapons and work to leave the encounter.
The hangar space aboard the vessel is designed to help maintain, in terms of repair and nourishment, the smaller shuttles which do much of the planet specific deliveries and assistance of the worlds.
This vessel is designed solely for exploration and research purposes in the seeding and revitalization of worlds.
