- Energy: The Nevarak Crystal, once properly combined with the Smoke Demon essence during its creation, provides a constant and unending source of Dark Side energy capable of being harnessed into an energy based weapon akin to Kyber Crystals, though not quite as strong.

- Lightside Nexus: While it can continue working, the power of the crystal grows weaker the stronger the lightside nexus (I.E. The weapon/shield it powers will also get weaker).
- Dark Side Taint: The Crystal is easy to pick up in the force due to the constant flow of dark side energy.
The Scions of the Truth, the Force User organization within the Dominion of Shadows, have remained in isolation for many decades. Their homeworld lacks Kyber Crystals, and with only limited access to star travel, the organization was forced to look elsewhere to forge its weaponry. With their focus on sorcery and alchemy, a solution was found. Using force Alchemy the Scions implant captured smoke demons inside specially prepared crystals. While weak the smoke demons are then “stimulated” to create a slow but steady supply of dark side energy.
This supply continues, even inside a lightside nexus, though the energy quickly becomes diluted depending on the strength of the nexus. Sadly, when inside complete force nullification, the power also stops, and any weapon powered by it will be rendered inoperable.
The main reason for the crystal is to create energy based weapons similar to the ancient force weapons of the Sith people. It creates a steady supply of energy that doesn’t need an outside power supply, and it slightly boosts the power of dark side abilities.
During their time at the Leviathan Temple, Scion Neophytes will undergo the Dwomutsiqsa, a Sith Ritual used to summon Smoke Demons into the material realm. Once summoned, the Neophyte must defeat, and then trap the Smoke Demon within a Nevarak Crystal. If successful, the Nevarak Crystal will become the power source for the weapon they will then create to become proper Scions.
