SETTING.gif

  • City Name: City of Devoured Souls
  • Classification: Prison City
  • Location: Netherworld
  • Affiliation: Nocna Mora
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: This city is made up of Nocna Mora and the souls of those imprisoned in the city.
  • Wealth: Poor: The city has no real economy to speak of considering the dead do not need money, and the beasts which inhabit are not concerned by it.
  • Stability: Low: To be imprisoned in the CIty of Devoured Souls is a terrible thing. One spends their entire time fleeing the Nocna Mora, fearing that they will be the next meal. Such fear makes the hunt stronger, and the danger higher. There is no sense of safety or security in the city. One either gives in to the inevitable, or they fight to prolong what little time they have.
  • Freedom & Oppression: The city was designed to be a prison for the Nocna Mora. The souls sent to the city are nothing more than food for the beasts trapped within. There is no sense of freedom whatsoever for man or beast.
  • Description: The two most notable features of the city are the fact it is dark and a scorching, damp, heat, can be felt throughout. What seems to be obsidian rock liters the area and every structure within. A massive wall, which seems to stretch higher than the eye can see, surrounds the city. No gate or door is discernible. Streams of lava flow throughout the city, though the darkness is so enveloping that no light is seen from the molten rock as it burns. At the center of the city, a large orb levitates. When activated from the Realm of the Living, this orb creates a portal which allows souls to be deposited into the city.

THE GLASS WALL: A great obsidian wall surrounds the city on all sides. Reaching higher than the eye can see, this dark gate is impenetrable. No door or gateway can be found making escape from the city virtually impossible. Portions of the boundary are transparent, allowing the captives to see what lay beyond on the other side of the city walls. It is hot to the touch, giving a burning sensation to all who touch it. One feels as though they are on fire with the slightest bit of contact.

  • Lucidity: This place feels real, and yet while everything feels real, it also does not. Every sense seems to be heightened, causing one to experience every sensation to an extreme. Such emotions like fear, sadness, anger, hatred, and melancholy, are amplified by the presence of the Nocna Mora. Since the beasts feed off of those emotions, those who experience them to a high degree will be targeted.
  • Hostility: The primary citizens of the city, the Nocna Mora, are violent, hostile, and unrelenting. Their insatiable hunger pushes them to feed and hunt. Outsiders who find themselves imprisoned with the Nocna Mora serve as the primary feeding option for the beasts imprisoned within the city walls. There is nothing about this city which is safe.
  • IC Rules: Negative emotions are amplified here. Those who find themselves in the city may experience higher levels of anger, fear, despair, envy, etc. Everything is dark. Even the lava running through does not bring light to the city. The climate is both hot and cold, humid and dry. Opposites seem to be felt and experienced simultaneously which could potentially overload one’s senses.

    HISTORY.gif

Whether the city always existed or it simply appeared is unknown. Barren and useless, the portion of the Netherworld seemed to produce nothing. Even the dead which wandered about the darkness seemed to avoid it. A corner of the place was hollow, empty, broken, a void which seemingly contained a void. It was there that the Nocna Mora were banished. The powerful beasts could not be allowed to roam free in the galaxy, and while their creator had managed to tame them, they could be uncontrolled.

The city was truly a prison. Walls appeared, meant to keep the Nocna Mora from wandering the Netherworld. They would be held without food, sustenance, but not for long. The first souls were sent to send a message. An uprising, a rebellion, against the Sith could not go unanswered. How many worlds would attempt the same if the response was not decisive and demonstrative? They could not afford to show a weak response. All of the dead were cast into the realm.

    And the Nocna Mora fed.

Over time more souls would be sent, and as the creatures ate, they multiplied until the city filled. The more souls, the more devourers could be sustained. The realm filled until it became like a city. The name City of Devoured Souls would be given to the corner of the Netherwold which imprisoned the beasts.

    “You MUST not!”

Gerwald looked into the eyes of the Mountain. There was fire behind the blue hue of his eyes. The lupine knew what he was trying to do. Dantooine was under attack, and all the Sith could think was to devastate the invaders. All he could think was that the Nocna Mora could not be set free.

It would be stopped at ANY cost.

The portal began to open, just enough that the wolf saw through it. He was frightened. There was not much which caused Gerwald to be scared, but what he saw in that moment did. One Nocna Mora was enough to make one fear, but the sheer number of devourers Gerwald saw made him fear the day the veil was torn.

There was much Gerwald could say, but there was only one thing that Gerwald could say.

    "END THIS, NOW!"
