- Veil-Threaded Phase Gate: A kyber-keyed lattice throws a measured tether into the Veil an instant before contact, reading density and inertia from the target's shadow in that other place. Using that read, the gate pulls the core slightly out of step for exactly the interval required so the main energy release arrives at a programmed deck rather than wasting itself on armor. The timing is precise enough to bloom in vaults, galleries, capacitor rooms, or keel cavities by order.
- Infernal Phase Core: The compact thermal core is tuned to ride that tether during a narrow desynchronization window. Energy passes through plating and bulkheads with minimal transfer, then reasserts contact inside the chosen volume. What defenders see outside is a shimmer and a blistering, while inside rooms go white as steel, cables, and bone flash to slag.
- Calibrated Desynchronization Window: Depth keys are set pre-drop to arrive a specific number of meters beneath the outer skin or a bunker wall. Shallow keys suit turret houses and sponsons, mid-depth keys ruin magazines and data cores, deep keys break spines and reactor galleries. Multiple bombs can be keyed to different depths in one pass, walking eruptions through a hull like a falling drumbeat.
- Interior Eruption Thermal Bloom: Once the core recontacts matter, a shaped overpressure forces superheated plasma through vents, cable trunks, and structural gaps. Bulkheads buckle, seals fail, and compartment interfaces twist as if the ship were pulling itself apart from the heart outward. Exterior damage remains deceptively modest for the first seconds, which delays defensive attribution and widens the window for follow-on strikes.
- Netherwake Disturbance Field: Recontact tears a hairline seam that lingers as a low, shivering pressure across the strike volume for several minutes. Kyber-aligned optics and guidance packages return ghost silhouettes and false pings while ordinary systems hiccup and drift before they settle. Crew report lights dimming without power loss and a prickling chill that eats heat from the air until the seam steadies.
- Charnel-Rift Residuum: Heat vanishes in irregular pockets then returns in breathlike pulses, quenching fire in one room while feeding it in the next. Thermal shock cracks plating and turns seals brittle, which makes quick repairs unreliable and dangerous. Damage control teams must rotate through the zone under careful guidance because temperatures swing without warning.
- Gravitic Course Correction Nodes: Silent gravitic nodes, woven into the Bloodsteel shell, trim trajectory and attitude in freefall without a detectable engine signature. Bomber crews can counter crosswinds, evasive yaw, or micro-tumbles to place the bomb over a specific hatch, frame bay, or bunker mouth. Corrections ensure the phasing window blooms exactly where it will cut the deepest, even against maneuvering hulls.

- Nether-Anchored Armor Bypass: Plating, angle, and thickness cease to matter when the core arrives from within. Coupling the slip to Veil currents turns mass-layered composites and spaced armor into staging rather than protection. Only defenses that disturb the tether meaningfully blunt the arrival.
- Catastrophic Interior Damage: The thermal bloom tears through bulkheads, ignites fuels, and cooks sealed spaces that resist exterior fire. Ventilation and cable trunks become involuntary waveguides that carry heat and overpressure into critical nodes. The first alarms that matter do not sound on the skin, they blossom from deep inside the target.
- Precision Depth Tuning: Commanders can assassinate systems without flattening whole sections by dialing depth keys for specific decks. Capacitor rooms, data cores, meditation cells, and magazine trunks can be neutralized with scalpel accuracy. This preserves surrounding superstructure for boarding or exploitation while killing the heart of the defense.
- Low Exterior Signature on Impact: Because the main energy release occurs internally, exterior sensors often register only a muted spike at the moment of arrival. Defensive logic keyed to surface flash and crater geometry can miss the hit until secondary events cascade. That delay stretches the opening for bomber wings to chain strikes.
- Rift-Seeding Aftermath: The Netherwake and charnel rime deny rapid damage control and clean sensor pictures. Extinguishers misfire, alarms stutter, and bulkhead monitors argue with each other until the seam unknits. Follow-on lances, boarding claws, and precision bombs exploit that confusion with brutal reliability.

- Force Nullification: When under fields of Force Nullification, the Veil tether dies on contact. The gate cannot hold a proper slip and the device behaves like a conventional shaped thermal charge against the exterior, with far less interior ruin.
- Shields: Full shields over a vessel or structure roughen the timing, forcing a shallower bloom and narrowing the bombs distinct advantage, but the bomb still functions as a high-end breacher, albeit without the full power it would normally detonate with. Its highly advisable to deploy the Netherpierce after shields are disabled.
- Intelligence Dependent Targeting: Netherpierce blooms where you tell it to, which means its precision is only as good as your picture of the inside. Accurate depth keys demand reliable deck plans, mass profiles, or fresh Scry-Lens reads; refits, false compartmenting, or unknown hulls can throw timing off so the eruption arrives shallow or deep, blunting catastrophic effect. Intelligence is key to precision detonation within ships.

The Netherpierce Bomb Mk. I exists to prove that armor is a suggestion and sanctuary is a lie. Where the Spinebreaker crushes steel bones and the Bloodfire drowns decks in living heat, Netherpierce speaks to the Veil and asks to be let in. It is the Kainate's answer to rooms an enemy trusts, to reactors that never see daylight, and to vaults that expect a siege rather than a visitation. A way to precisely target locations within the confines of a vessel, or structure.
Released from a bomb bay, the casing rides on silent gravitic trims while the phase gate throws a thin thread across the threshold between this world and the Nether. The lattice reads the target's shadow in that other place and pulls the core out of step for exactly as long as the depth key demands. There is a hush that looks like mercy. Then the ship screams from the inside as bulkheads buckle, cable forests flash to cinder, and sealed spaces turn white. On the skin a blister forms and heat haze blurs the air. Within, magazines cook, galleries flare, and command rooms lose light, air, and nerve in the same breath.
The aftermath behaves like a living wound. The seam exhales grave-cold that steals flame from one compartment and feeds it in another, so damage control cannot settle into a rhythm. Guidance drifts back to true by crawling steps while boards paint ghosts that engineers cannot pin down. Crews feel watched in their own hulls until the wake stops breathing. That interval is the opening bomber wings plan for, because while the Veil is still moving, defenders cannot stand still.
Netherpierce is not a wide-area terror piece and it is not a blunt hammer. It is a surgeon's blade drawn across the most protected places in a ship or fortress. Used in concert with the Kainate's Scry-Lens targeting suite, wings pass depth keys like litany and walk eruptions from turrets to keel. Shields and nulls must be managed by doctrine, and sanctums built to calm the Veil will blunt the deepest cuts. Even so, when the mission calls for the unreachable deck, the inviolable core, or the vault that has never opened, there is no tool more feared than the Netherpierce Bomb Mk. I.
