OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

GENERAL INFORMATION

COMBAT INFORMATION
  • Availability: Unique
  • Deployment: Limited
Strengths:
  • Elite: The Nerean Crownguard are the best the Sith Empire has to offer. There are only eight of these individuals in the entire Empire. These warriors are incredibly skilled, well trained, and well equipped and very loyal. Their abilities in combat can present a challenge to most Jedi and Sith Masters making them extremely dangerous enemy combatants.
  • Resourceful:Through their training the Nerean Crownguard have a wide skill set at their disposal outside of the battlefield to fulfill any needs their masters might have. They can drive vehicles, fly shuttles, they’re trained in first aid.
  • Epicanthix: The entire unit is comprised entirely of members from the epicanthix species, thus possessing a natural talent to shield their minds from force assisted mental tricks, influence, domination, and mind reading.
  • Dark Vessels:The bodies of these guardsman are changed through sith alchemy and magic so they they may act as vessels for their masters should theirs fall to pieces through corruption, battle, etc. Above all their bodies were warped much like the Gorebound of old, their bodies infused with the dark side; strength magnified, cruelty magnified, and resilience as unyielding as their master's.
Weaknesses:
  • Limited: They are an exceedingly rare fighting force and the training required for just one guardman is immense. Candidates are properly screened from the ranks of the Order of the Crownguard, must meet a set of harsh requirements, trained, and put into commission. This process is incredibly intense, dangerous, and takes a significant amount of time. Due to this they are primarily a defensive force designed to protect their masters instead of attacking.
  • Fixed Location: The Nerean Crownguard true to their purpose are severely limited in their areas of operations. They are fixed to wherever their masters are and they never leave their masters sides for any length of time or distance.
  • Nullification: If they are within a ysalamiri's anti-force bubble then these warriors cannot act as vessels for their masters because the bubble's energy would push them away. Additionally while also in the bubble their strength from the augmentation process is temporarily suppressed.
  • Force Light: The unfortunate byproduct of the magic and alchemy process has left these guardsman with an inherent weakness to Force Light that can severely hurt them and even kill them.
  • Zealots:They have only one purpose and that is to defend their masters, they are entirely loyal to them and will do anything for them to ensure their survival. Even if this means the death or some or all of their number, they will follow orders to the fullest.

Description: The idea of the Nerean Crownguard was first conceived after the second death of Kaine Zambrano when his body finally gave out due to dark side corruption in a pitched battle against [member="Gabriel Sionoma"]. Kaine was left alone to fight and die at the hands of the Jedi and the Crownguard were hopeless to save their dying master. Wracked with guilt at this event the failure fell entirely on Lord Commander Zaddion Bruul who began to conceive a method to ensure this never happened again.

Years later a solution was found.

After Kaine and Braxus Zambrano ascended the throne as Dark Lord of the Sith and Shadow Hand respectively there was a need now more than ever for a solution. So a set of Crownguard was made different from the others, chosen from the cream of the crop among the guards who all saw combat alongside their masters, excelled, and were all epicanthix. These carefully chosen individuals were given new arms, equipment and advanced training. Above all their bodies were warped much like the Gorebound of old.

This was done solely for the purpose of making sure their bodies were prepared as vessels for the Sith Lords. So in the event that their masters were to fall in battle or to corruption they would be able to enter the bodies of any one of the guardsman and use them as vessels.

The Nerean Crownguard were taken through an extremely intense training and testing process personally by the Lord Commander himself, teaching them much of the same lessons that his masters had taught him. They would give up their names, their pasts, their families, their very identities would be erased, they would give up everything in service to their masters. Forever would they be known as their number from one to eight from the first guard to the last. They would always stand with their masters no matter what happened or where they were, always nearby at every moment. When they were at long last ready the name was chosen for this new fighting unit, the Nerean Crownguard named after the Panathan god Nereus. They were trained to fight, die, and even care for them should they need it.

  • Two matters here – firstly, know that no NPCs may ever match PCs in power,
  • and secondly, I assume the [/background] is a bbcode leftover. You might want to remove it.

and were all epicanthix.
  • Epicanthix are naturally resistant to Force-related mental tricks / manipulation / etc. Please add this to the strengths list.

  • From the Gorebound submission:
augmented through science and magic to become resilient, apathetic, and ruthless warriors
  • Are the Nerean crownguard also altered to be stronger and more resistant through alchemy?
I'd like to see some downsides to the Dark Vessel trait – alchemically altered creatures usually suffer when exposed to Force Light and similar.
I'd also like you to expand on the ability in general, as it is currently left rather vague. Please also explain what happens if they come under the effect of a Voidstone, Ysalamir, etc.

Epicanthix: The entire unit is comprised entirely of members from the epicanthix species, making them immune to the mental applications of the force.
  • From the Wookieepedia article on Epicanthix:
Some Epicanthix possessed a natural unconscious talent to shield their minds from Force-assisted mental tricks, influence, domination, and mind reading
  • Please remove the 'immunity' and rephrase the strength to reflect the above.

  • This should go under the Weaknesses section.

Thank you. Pretty powerful unit, but they're unique and pretty handicapped in terms of use.

Pending approval.
