  • Manufacturer: Locke and Key Mechanics
  • Affiliation: Closed-Market (Any character can use this if they have explicit permission through, for example, a marketplace purchase),
  • Model: Nemea System
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material: Tractor Beam Emitters, Electronics

  • Uses miniature tractor beam emitters spread across the surface of the armour to create a weak gravitational field around a ship designed to repulse any incoming attacks.

  • Repulsion Field: Utilizing the technology that they first introduced in the Ponos Tractor Beams the Nemea System generates a weak gravitational field around the armour it is attached to. This field is designed to be able to repulse and push aware incoming attacks, either slowing or redirecting them as they come to provide an additional level of defence.
  • Monkey see, monkey do: The repulsion field doesn't just affect shots being fired at the user, but also shots that they fire allowing a ship or other armour entity to fire off-axis, or with a greater degree of precision.

  • Power-hungry: Generating the repulsion field is a job that requires a significant amount of power, even for a capital ship this isn't a system that can just be run at a whim. As such, the Nemea System has to draw power from other systems in order to power itself, namely the engines. While the Nemea can be used to boost your defences, it does so at the cost of turning you into a tank. Slow-moving but tough.
  • You shall not pass: The Gravity field created by the Nemea works as much against allies as it does enemies. Any physical projectiles of fighter craft trying to pass through the field will be driven wildly off course. In order to fire missiles, or to launch or retrieve fighters the Nemea must be dropped.

The Nemea System is based on the T.E.R.A. system which was introduced in the Hyperion Ascendant and its sister ship, The Shining Path. The system uses a series of powerful tractor pressor’s emitters spread across the surface of the armour to create an energy field which, when used defensively, will actively repel incoming energy and projectile attacks, slowing or turning back the attacks. When used in coordination with the Hyperion Ascendant’s own weapons system it allows the weapons of the ship to be fired off-axis or with increased accuracy (OOC note: the use of T.E.R.A. does not increase the power of ships systems when used). The T.E.R.A. system is based upon the technology used in the Nantex-class Territorial Defense Starfighters taken up to a massive scale.
While the defensive boost provided by the T.E.R.A. system can be a fight changing the system is generally kept deactivated due to the massive power drain which is involved in projecting the tractor repulsion field across the entire surface of the ship. When activated the TERA generally draws its power from the engines, slowing the ship right down.
