- Faster Refreshing: This technology acts as a means to improve the refresh rate of mainly electrostatic, ray and molecular shielding, allowing for a faster recharging and refreshing of shields, while also minimizing the refreshing cycle even when the shields in question are at full capacity.
- Shield Enhancer: This piece of technology can essentially either boost the strength of the shielding, but also its range, allowing for a larger area of overlap between vessels utilizing this technology and thus allowing ships in a tight knit formation to rely on a boosted, overlapping shield. When utilizing the latter, the shields themselves are not stronger, but it would allow for less if any existing gaps in a formation's overall shielding capacity.
- Shield Booster [OOC only] : This technology for a short duration may allow the vessel's shielding to be equivalent to that of a vessel of a class higher, though by doing so, the drain on the shield will be much higher and the shield's charge will drop rapidly.
- Compact piece of technology
- Simple functions, with easy programability
- Secure transfer of energy and power through use of N&Z patented modules and AI
- Robust piece of technology with little to no flaws in terms of operational reliability
- Mandates use of Corecomm N&Z components in target vessels for this to work
- won't work on starfighter shields
- Must be operated from outside of the targeted shield, meaning it can't be installed on a vessel for it's own shields, mandating it to be used in cooperative fleet compositions.
The Neirides Shield enhancer module was designed and engineered at the behest of Karl Von Strauss , who demanded the N&Z to create a means to further enhance and strengthen the shielding utilized by ships in fleet formations. While this would be rather pointless in the form of a booster when utilized on a single ship, the idea of having this module link up with shielding from the outside, syphoning additional power into the cyclical pulse of shield generators and thus lowering both the refresh rate, but also minimizing the gap in the shield's strength when they go through their cycles, made this piece of technology interesting enough to be put into production.
The design is meant to be compact and easy to install in small vessels or vehicles, with the aim to be less visible to enemy assets, but to maintain maximum efficiency. The use of the N&Z's standard materials allows for mass production and a reliability that is expected from any of the company's products. While robust and reliable, there are a few flaws in regards to useability, as the entire siphoning process and the power transfer is reliant on the Corecomm scammer, which already tested for broadcasting and communication purposes retains its encryption strength, but as such also its fickleness towards other systems.
