Description: [SIZE=13.63636302948px]The Narran-Class was named after the draconic, metamorphic species Narran on Crystalsong. It was originally designed as an interdiction fighter to intercept and eliminate high-speed threats from long range on an interception course (as a class of turbine jet fighter had on a smaller scale millennia before). Early in development engineers realized the prohibitively large size made the craft ideal as a gunship or heavy bomber, and began immediately developing the Narran-Class for both roles. The Intercept Fighter concept was not abandoned, however, and simply reserved as the last development of the project, being renamed to "Interdictor."[/SIZE]
[SIZE=13.63636302948px]The Narran-Class/Wyrm Model is the series' dedicated bomber. Modifications to the original design include opened space for a bomb-bay where launchers and warheads would typically be fitted.[/SIZE] The central chassis has been reinforced to compensate for increased weight. The nose turret and wing housings have had their original weapons replaced with those more suited to the Attack role. The original mid-section defense turret has been removed in lieu of a semi-modular sensor jamming system, affording lighter weight and greater structural integrity. The same powerplant and propulsion system as the earlier Aspect Model remained in the Wyrm's design, also utilizing TibannaX fuel catalyst and standardized power cores proportionate to the craft. Like most bombers, the Wyrm Model can operate alone or in small squadrons. However, the key difference is the focus on strategic and/or carpet bombing over precision bombings by Attack craft such as the Y-Wing. Simply put, the Wyrm Model is a genuine bomber, though it is flexible enough in its role to have strong survivability.
