The Nanja, a carrion-eating fly native to Csilla and now found all over the Chiss Ascendancy and its colony worlds, was a large insectoid pest. However, it was well known for its speed despite its bulk when escaping the beaks of birds and snapping tongues of reptiles. Maybe the designers who knew it would be mostly used by Chiss politicians named the ship after this pest as a joke. In a strange turn of events, the brutalist vessel, so different from the flowing curves of standard Chiss design did not go over well with the politicians of the Syndicure, but its robust shields, heavy armor, and impressive speed found appealed to the sensibilities of the military where it became the de facto shuttle used by command staff. Its speed and heavy cannons meant it was safe in an ambush, able to hold off enemy fighters long enough for help to arrive or fast enough to outrun its attacker.
After finding a home with the two defense forces of the Ascendancy it was packed with sensor gear, advanced communications equipment, and a navigator's chair for Chiss Sky-Walkers to use. Even with many of its comforts removed, the vessel still boasted fine cabins for at least 3 individuals and basic cabins for a crew of 3 as well as fold out bunks for an escort squad of 8 Warriors. Fine-tuned it would go on to serve the Ascendancy long after the destruction of Csilla.
