DESCRIPTION

The Nagai Stellar Reactor is an advanced form of reactor common to those from Besh. At the heart of each reactor is a dense, white ball of exotic, heavy elements, known as a Star Core. Though this ball of exotic matter is small enough for a person to hold in one hand, it weighs over 500lb, is highly radioactive, and requires specialized equipment to handle. Within the reactor, the Star Core is held within a containment field at the heart of a spherical chamber several meters wide. At the top and bottom of the chamber, a pair of meter-wide curved pillars protrude and each extends 1/3rd of the way to the center of the chamber, with the Star Core hovering centrally between the two pillars. When activated, the pillar below the Star Core produces a powerful beam of high frequency light waves (a laser) that aggravates the Star Core while the pillar above the Star Core effects the ball of exotic matter with a Density Projector, greatly enhancing the mass of the object as the particles it is comprised of become energized by the high frequency light waves.

As the mass of the Star Core increases and its internal temperature skyrockets, the object begins to emit a powerful gravitational and electromagnetic field. As this occurs, numerous jets built into the top and bottom pillar begin to spray a mist of liquid into the primary reaction chamber that surrounds the pillars and the Star Core. This liquid fuel is highly reactive to thermal and electromagnetic stimulant and is saturated with heavy elements. Once within the hollow reaction chamber that surrounds the two pillars, this fuel is compressed by Repulsor Fields and is kept within a "doughnut" shaped area orbiting the Star Core. Fuel is continuously added to this contained loop where the heat, radiation, electromagnetic, and gravitational effects of the Star Core cause the fuel to enter a plasma state and exert pressure against the repulsor field as it tries to expand. Once in a plasma state, the various effects from the Star Core cause the plasma ring to rotate rapidly around the Star Core, churning in on itself and creating additional thermal and electromagnetic effects as the plasma fights against the restraining repulsor field in its efforts to expand.

It is this thermal and electromagnetic energy that is harnessed by the reactor to power a starship.
