APPEARANCE
APPEARANCE
Nafl'fhtagn is a colossus of wrongness.
In its current state, after feeding on the unleashed Dark Side Nexus beneath the Imperial Palace, the creature has grown to over one-hundred meters (328 feet) in length. The creature's body is a nightmarish fusion of serpent and arthropod, segmented and armored, covered in chitinous plates of mottled grey-brown flesh that seem to absorb light rather than reflect it. Rows of bony spines run along its dorsal ridge, each capable of subtle movement, creating an unsettling rippling effect when the creature shifts position. The segmented underbelly is ribbed and pale, almost corpse-like in coloration. Bioluminescent veins of sickly amber pulse beneath the surface like diseased lightning, growing brighter when the creature feeds or becomes agitated.
Rather than pure serpentine movement, Nafl'fhtagn possesses two primary limbs, massive, multi-jointed appendages ending in clawed digits that allow it to climb, grip, and move with disturbing silence for something of its size.
The creature's head is a horror unto itself. A massive hood-like frill of flesh and bone extends from either side, spanning nearly 20 meters (65 feet) across when fully flared. This hood serves as a resonance chamber for the creature's psychic projections, amplifying its ability to broadcast terror across its hunting range. When retracted, the creature's profile becomes surprisingly compact.
The face within the hood is a cluster of eight to twelve primary eyes that dominate the central mass, luminous, pale orbs of varying sizes that glow with an inner phosphorescence like dying stars. These eyes do not blink in unison; they track independently, creating the nauseating impression of being watched by multiple entities simultaneously. The largest of these eyes, positioned centrally, measures nearly a meter (3 feet) in diameter and pulses with hypnotic patterns that shift like oil on water.
Below the eye cluster, a vertical maw splits the lower face when opened, revealing concentric rings of inward-curving fangs. Prey is not merely consumed, it is drawn inward, slowly, while still aware.
From the creature's body emerges a forest of tentacles, secondary limbs of wildly varying form. No two are identical. Some are long and whip-thin, others short and thick. Some terminate in clusters of smaller eyes that track movement independently. Others end in clenching jaws, mouths filled with crystalline fangs. Still others bear hooked claws or sensory filaments that taste the air for fear.
These appendages move with independent purpose, each seemingly possessed of its own rudimentary awareness. They do not extend beyond their natural length, but they create a constantly shifting corona of movement around the creature's mass.
The Church has observed that when an appendage is severed, the creature regenerates it within approximately two standard weeks, but the replacement is never identical to the original. A lost eye-tendril might regrow as a clawed limb; a severed jaw-arm might return bearing sensory clusters. This was tested extensively during the creature's conditioning, and the results suggest that Nafl'fhtagn's form is not fixed but fluid, adapting to circumstance and damage.
The appendages are also wrapped with crackling bio-electric discharge, visible as faint lightning that arcs between them during periods of heightened activity. This discharge intensifies when the creature projects or feeds.
Nafl'fhtagn's body bends in ways that should not be possible occasionally appearing to fold through itself or cast shadows that do not match its position. Observers report that looking at the creature for extended periods causes headaches, nausea, nosebleeds, and the sensation of being watched from inside their own skulls. Some have experienced temporary blindness or seizures.

PERSONALITY
PERSONALITY
Nafl'fhtagn does not think as sentient beings understand thought. It experiences existence as a continuous state of hunger, not for flesh alone, though it will consume that readily, but for terror. The psychic energy of fear. The emotional resonance of despair. The creature feeds on horror itself.
And its been filled to the brim, fed continuously by the Coruscant Nexus since its extraction, the creature has become profoundly attuned to the dark side of the Force, and specifically to the emotional states of Force-sensitive beings within its range.
It perceives fear the way a predator perceives blood in water: layered, complex, full of information. It can sense terror from vast distances, distinguish between individual emotional signatures, and identify which targets are most vulnerable to psychological assault.
This attunement gives the creature an almost tactical awareness of its hunting ground. It does not simply attack, it reads its prey. It identifies the weakest, the most frightened, and strikes there first. As that victim's terror spreads to others, as panic becomes contagious, the creature's feeding ground expands. Fear spreads like disease, and Nafl'fhtagn is patient enough to let the infection run its course before harvesting the entire herd.
The creature cannot be tamed. It cannot be reasoned with. It does not feel loyalty, affection, or gratitude. What the Church has achieved is not domestication but direction, teaching the creature to recognize certain individuals as inviolate while everything else remains food. Even so, the conditioning is not absolute, moments of extreme hunger, overwhelming stimuli, or damage could theoretically cause the creature to "forget" its conditioning.
Communication, such as it is, occurs through impressions and emotions projected directly into the minds of those nearby. These projections are profoundly unpleasant, recipients describe the sensation as having their thoughts drowned in a cold ichor while something vast and hungry examines the contents. The messages are simple: hunger, satisfaction, warning, and most frequently, want. The creature always wants.
Nafl'fhtagn despises the Light with something approaching religious hatred. Exposure to Light Side energies causes it physical pain, but more than that, the creature seems to find the Light offensive, an aberration that should not exist. It will recoil from Jedi and Light-aligned Force users with visible disgust, prioritizing them as targets even over other prey once the hunt begins.

TRAINING
TRAINING
Nafl'fhtagn was not trained so much as contained, fed, and conditioned. Upon its extraction from the rift to the Great Beyond, the creature was utterly feral, a mass of hunger and malice that attacked anything producing life-force or emotional resonance. Several dozen acolytes were killed, and far more sacrificed before the Church's and Dark Side Elite could establish emergency containment.
The Containment Problem
The creature's ability to phase through matter presented an immediate challenge. Physical barriers meant nothing, It would simply slide partially into the Great Beyond and emerge elsewhere. Force barriers held longer but required constant maintenance and exhausted even the most powerful sorcerers. During the initial containment attempts, the creature phased through three separate holding chambers, killing several personnel before it could be driven back.
The solution came from studying the lore of The Touched and their prison-world of Wgah'nagl. The sorcerers developed Void-Warding, ritual containment that doesn't cage the creature physically, but makes phasing agonizing.
The Void-Wards are ritual circles inscribed with glyphs drawn from the Dark Tongue, anchored by kyber crystals corrupted through Sith alchemy and bathed in the blood of Force-sensitives. When active, the wards create a field that burns the creature's connection to the Great Beyond. Within the warded space, Nafl'fhtagn can exist comfortably, but any attempt to phase, to touch its home dimension, results in searing pain, as if the doorway home has been set ablaze.
The creature learned quickly. It stopped trying to escape.
The Feeding
This is where Nafl'fhtagn's nature revealed itself as distinct from simple predation.
The Church positioned the containment chamber directly above the Coruscant Nexus, intending to accelerate the creature's growth through constant dark side exposure. This worked, the creature grew rapidly, its power expanding with each passing month. But they also observed that the creature's hunger was not satisfied by the Nexus alone. It required something more specific: fear.
Traditional Sith Wyrms are created by feeding them dark side energy over time. Nafl'fhtagn required that, but it also required victims. Prisoners were brought before the creature, and the Church observed as it fed. Not physical consumption, not at first. The creature would project terror directly into their minds, drink deep of their psychological destruction, and only then, when they were hollowed out with fear, would it consume them physically.
COMBAT INFORMATION
COMBAT FUNCTION
COMBAT FUNCTION
Nafl'fhtagn is a psychological siege weapon. In combat, it projects overwhelming terror to break enemy morale and mental defenses before closing for physical kills. It identifies vulnerable targets through emotional attunement, strikes the weakest first to spread panic, then hunts methodically through the chaos it creates. The creature uses dimensional phasing to attack from impossible angles, passing through walls and emerging where least expected. Its emotional camouflage makes it nearly impossible to track through the Force while stalking—only rapid movement or direct combat reveals its position. When psychological assault fails, it remains a hundred-meter (328 feet) apex predator capable of crushing vehicles, demolishing structures, and consuming beings whole. It fights best in enclosed spaces or emotionally charged environments where its camouflage is most effective.

FORCE ABILITIES
FORCE ABILITIES
DIMENSIONAL PHASING
Like other creatures of the Great Beyond, Nafl'fhtagn exists partially in multiple dimensions simultaneously, allowing it to consciously phase through physical matter by shifting its mass into its home dimension. This grants it the ability to pass through walls, emerge from unexpected angles, and avoid attacks by simply not being fully present in Realspace. However, phasing requires active concentration, the creature cannot passively phase to avoid damage, rapid unexpected attacks can strike before it reacts, and sustained combat exhausts its ability to phase repeatedly.
EMOTIONAL ATTUNEMENT
The creature possesses constant, real-time awareness of the emotional states of all beings within its proximity. Nafl'fhtagn perceives fear the way a shark perceives blood, it can sense terror across its entire range, distinguish between individual emotional signatures, and instantly identify which targets are most vulnerable. This allows it to hunt tactically, striking the weakest first to spread panic through groups.
PSYCHIC TERROR PROJECTION
Nafl'fhtagn can project raw, primal fear directly into the minds of prey, not subtle manipulation, but a sledgehammer of terror that bypasses rational thought entirely. Victims experience sudden overwhelming panic: racing hearts, cold sweat, the absolute certainty that something terrible is about to happen. The creature's projections build over time, initial contact creates unease, sustained exposure creates fear, prolonged assault creates psychological destruction, and it is patient enough to stalk prey for extended periods, wearing down mental defenses before striking physically. At high intensity, it causes physical symptoms: headaches, nausea, nosebleeds, and trembling, creating a feedback loop of mounting psychological and physical distress.
EMOTIONAL CAMOUFLAGE
Nafl'fhtagn has learned to disguise its Force signature by blending into the emotional resonance of its surroundings. Wherever intense emotions exist fear, anger, grief, despair, even fervent joy the creature can mask itself within that psychic noise, appearing to Force users as simply part of the ambient emotional landscape rather than a discrete entity. It does not need to generate the emotions itself; a battlefield, a riot, a funeral, a panicked crowd any environment saturated with strong feeling provides cover. The creature instinctively seeks out or creates such conditions before hunting, and the more intense the emotional vortex, the more effectively it disappears into it. A stalking Dream Eater in an emotionally charged environment is nearly invisible to the Force, though rapid movement or direct combat compromises the effect.
FEEDING
The creature feeds on fear itself, continuously absorbing the psychic energy generated by terror, despair, and psychological trauma within its range. The suffering of its prey is not incidental to feeding, the suffering is the feeding. The more Nafl'fhtagn feeds, the stronger its abilities become: it projects further, with greater intensity, and can maintain its assault for longer periods, creating a dangerous cycle where terrorizing prey makes it better at terrorizing prey.
STRENGTHS
⬩ Apex Predator Physiology
Despite its psychological focus, Nafl'fhtagn remains over a hundred meter (328 feet) apex predator. Its armored body resists blaster fire and can withstand glancing lightsaber strikes. Its limbs can crush vehicles, its tail can demolish structures, and its maw can consume beings whole. When psychological assault fails, physical predation succeeds.
⬩ Silent Movement
For its size, the creature moves with disturbing silence. Its articulated limbs allow careful, deliberate locomotion that produces almost no sound. In darkness or enclosed spaces, prey often do not realize the creature is present until it strikes.
⬩ Dimensional Phasing
The creature can phase through physical matter by shifting into the Great Beyond, allowing attacks from impossible angles and escape from physical containment.
⬩ Nexus Empowerment
Currently positioned directly above the Coruscant Nexus, the creature is being fed a constant stream of ancient Sith power. It has not yet reached its full potential.
⬩ Eldritch Powers
Nafl'fhtagn wields a terrifying array of abilities drawn from its extra-dimensional nature, it can phase through solid matter, project overwhelming terror directly into minds, sense the emotional states of all nearby beings, and hide its Force signature within the fear it creates. Its constant dark side aura amplifies negative emotions in all who draw near, and it feeds continuously on the psychological suffering it generates, growing stronger with each victim it breaks.
WEAKNESSES
⬩ Light Side Vulnerability
Exposure to Light Side energies causes the creature significant pain and disrupts its abilities. Force Light and similar powers can pierce its emotional camouflage, break its projections, and cause severe damage. Jedi with strong Light Side presence can partially resist its psychological assault through their training.
⬩ The Curse of Hunger
The creature requires constant sustenance, both from the Nexus and from active feeding on terror. If cut off from the Nexus and denied prey, it weakens rapidly and may enter a torpid state, or break its conditioning in desperation.
⬩ Force Nullification
In areas where the Force is suppressed (Ysalamiri bubbles, Void Stones, etc.), the creature loses access to most of its abilities, including phasing and projection, and becomes a purely physical threat. Extended exposure could be severely debilitating.
⬩ Fire and Extreme Heat
Nafl'fhtagn is vulnerable to fire and extreme heat. Flames cause it disproportionate pain and damage, and it cannot regenerate burns as effectively as other wounds.
⬩ Banishment Rituals
As a creature partially of another dimension, Nafl'fhtagn can theoretically be banished back to the Great Beyond through appropriate Sith sorcery or Jedi exorcism techniques. Such knowledge is rare, but it exists.
⬩ Active Phasing Limitation
The creature's phasing ability requires conscious effort. It cannot passively phase to avoid damage, rapid, unexpected attacks can strike before it reacts. Sustained combat exhausts its ability to phase repeatedly.
⬩ Movement Detection
The creature's emotional camouflage degrades significantly during rapid movement or combat. A stalking Nafl'fhtagn is nearly invisible to the Force; a fighting Nafl'fhtagn can be sensed and tracked.
⬩ Mental Fortitude
Individuals with exceptional mental training, Jedi meditation, Sith disciplines, or unusual psychological resilience, can resist the creature's projections. Strong minds are harder to break, and the creature must expend more effort against well-defended prey.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The entity that would become Nafl'fhtagn has no history as mortals understand the concept. In the Great Beyond, that dimension of eldritch horror from which The Touched draw their mutations and their whispered truths, time does not flow as it does in Realspace. The creature simply was, existing in a state of perpetual hunger, drifting through geometries that would shatter organic minds.
It was one of countless such entities, the spiritual fauna of Typhojem's realm, the Father of Shadows' thoughtless children. Not intelligent, not truly alive by any conventional measure, but aware in some fundamental sense. Aware, and hungry.

The Nexus Unleashed
For millennia, the Jedi Temple on Coruscant stood as a monument to the Light, but it was built on a lie. Beneath the Temple's foundations lay an ancient Sith shrine, a Dark Side Nexus of immense power that the Jedi had attempted to suppress by building their sanctuary directly atop it. They believed their presence would neutralize the darkness. They were wrong. The darkness merely waited.
When the Galactic Empire seized Coruscant and transformed the Jedi Temple into the Imperial Palace, they discovered the shrine, and rather than suppress it, they unleashed it. For the first time in millennia, the Nexus was allowed to breathe, to radiate, to grow. The darkness that had been building beneath the Jedi's feet for thousands of years was finally free.
The Church of the Dark Side recognized the opportunity. They began conducting rituals at the Nexus's heart, experimenting with its power, seeking to understand what secrets it might yield.
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
The Extraction
One such ritual, an attempt to peer into the Great Beyond and catalogue its inhabitants, succeeded beyond expectation. The barriers between dimensions, already weakened by the Nexus's unleashing, tore open.
The rift was pulled open, a search party stepped in, but no one expected what they pulled out.
The creature that emerged was barely coherent, a writhing mass of hunger and malice lashing out at anything that moved. Several acolytes died in the initial moments, not consumed but broken, their minds erased by the overwhelming force of the creature's projected terror. Only the intervention of the Dark Side Elite prevented the ritual chamber from becoming a slaughterhouse.
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
The Containment
The creature's ability to phase through matter made physical containment impossible. It slid through walls, emerged from floors, vanished into the Great Beyond and reappeared elsewhere. Seventeen personnel died before the Church developed Void-Warding, ritual circles that make phasing agonizing rather than preventing it outright.
Trapped within warded space, the creature's nature became clear. It did not simply kill, it fed on fear. Prisoners brought before it were psychologically destroyed before being consumed. The creature projected terror into their minds, drank deep of their despair, and only then completed the physical predation.
═══════════════════════════════════════════════════════
Present Status
Nafl'fhtagn remains in its containment chamber deep beneath the Imperial Palace, coiled around the wellspring of the Nexus. It feeds. It grows. It waits.
The creature has not been released since its extraction, all observed hunting behavior comes from controlled excursions into the Great Beyond. The Church continues to refine its understanding of the creature's capabilities, deploying it against increasingly challenging test subjects in its home dimension.
The Church speaks of it in reverent whispers, the Dream Eater, their most terrible weapon. When the day comes to unleash it upon the galaxy, entire worlds will learn to fear the darkness that feeds on fear itself.
