Manufacturer: Nadir
Model: NADIR E-SERIES Saboteur missile
Affiliation: Closed-Market
Modularity: Color.
Production: Limited
Material: Durasteel, Tunqstoid, Firegem-Baradium-357 warhead
Firegems are known to cause hyperdrive reactors to fail due to their constant vibration
Armor-piercing: The heavy Tunqstoid tip is extremely effective in penetrating all but the most hardy of hulls. On top of that, the missile employs two separate explosive charges. First comes the shaped charge, which serves to help the missile pierce the hull of its intended target.
Hyperfail: The second explosion, triggered at a pre-set delay after the first one, is meant to disseminate the Firegem shards along with the shrapnel. If the ship were to attempt a hyperspace jump after this, the presence of Firegems is highly likely to cause a hyperdrive failure – sometimes this even causes the drive to explode.
Shielding: A good particle shield will have no trouble stopping one of these. A few of them, though… well. They do pack quite a punch.
Come hither: Any ship attempting to use the missile would have to close into close range with its target. Shot from further distances, the missile loses much of the accuracy that makes it useful in the first place.
Toxic: If any of the missiles are physically compromised while in storage, they are liable to leak the coolant that keeps Baradium-357 stable – exposure to this substance has been known to cause psychotic impulses and other negative side-effects.
Eagle eye: In order to fully utilize the Firegem capabilities of this missile, it must be aimed the drive core bay of the target ship. A close hit will still potentially cause hyperdrive failure, but any substantial miss will render the Firegem part of the payload useless.
Interdictors are so last year – everyone and their mother has HIMS now, and isn’t that awfully boring?
Nadir sets out to once again spice up the dreadful ennui of the modern fleet battle. The E-series Saboteur missile is the solution, packing the most bang for your buck that you can possibly get. Sadly it does require that you come close enough to gaze your foe in the eye, bridge-to-bridge, but what’s a little death stare showdown between enemies?
At least you get to enjoy the horror dawn on their face as you stick the missile where the sun don’t shine. You also get to enjoy the continual deterioration of the karks the Nadir marketing department is able to give.
What a time to be alive.
