Private Naboo Beaches

Mission after mission after mission. It wasn't what he wanted for his Padawans, but with the war ongoing, he needed to make sure they could keep up. Stay alive. The best way to look out for them was to make sure they could look out for themselves. But now the War was over.

And now he could help them recover from it.

The Bastion landed. He hadn't told either of his Padawan's just where they were going, only to come along and make sure they were ready for a swim. Sounded like a typical mission, right? Especially with Rhemti. But as the ramp lowered, it wasn't the typical scenario in the slightest. A beach, yes. But one that seemed to be a resort. Kahlil hoisted up a pack filled with not mission supplies, but the typical beach enjoying supplies he usually brought. A book, an umbrella. He wasn't actually a fan of swimming himself.

Bad memories. Well, good memories. Weird memories.

"You both did well, so.. We're on vacation."

He adjusted the sling still holding his weakened arm as he turned his gaze towards them. The one eye that was visible was enough to tell the grin that was already forming.

"It's time for you guys to have fun."

"Hah.. so this is what you had cooked up!" Rhemti was speechless at first, before a large grin spread across his face. "You're the best boss!" The Nautolan wasted no time leaping off the ramp and dashing for the water, practically belly flopping into the surf with a excited whoop!

"Oh waves, how I missed yo-" His words were cut off as he sank into the water, becoming little more than bubbling gurgles to any who were above the surf.

Within moments he was hopping back out waves, red skin shiny from the water. Rhemti was quick to return to Kahlil and Capris, beaming from cheek to cheek. "Can I help with anything? Any set up? Carry stuff for you?" Thankfully Rhemti hadn't been too badly injured in the most recent battle. He was just happy to have a moment with those dearest to him, that and the fun of the waves behind him.

She didn’t swim. Couldn’t actually.

Not out of preference or some deep-seated ocean phobia, but rather a genuine lack of know-how. One she was perfectly fine to leave unaddressed until well…now.

“Swim? Like in water?” The girl had asked, hands nearly wringing out the durasteel bar of her seat all while they made landfall.

Thankfully that borderline anxiety was misplaced. Wasn’t like her aquatic inability jeopardized anything real. Well, anything outside of the integrity of this.. vacation?

Capris also hadn’t taken a vacation before in her life. Or seen the ocean for that matter. If the padawan had a bucket list, she would’ve been scrambling, but naturally Capris was out of the loop on that one too.

So instead she stood, boots hollowing the sand beneath her feet, just staring.

“That’s ocean.”

It was a perhaps obvious statement, the words spoken like a whisper. Unbelieving.

“Like actual ocean.”

Rhemti was quick to ground her.

Right Kahlil was… not in the best of conditions. None of them were really, but at the very least she had motor control over two hands as opposed to one. Silently taking Kahlil’s pack from him, she pulled the umbrella out, offering it to Rhemti to assemble, because frankly she didn’t know what the hell to do with it. In the same motion she pulled out the book, thumbing the cover as she extended a hand towards Kahlil. “You’re seriously going to read?”

To each their own, but for one she couldn’t pry her eyes off the horizon.

Kahlil raised a brow as the two went about busying themselves with helping him, of all things. It earned a chuckle. And a proud glint to his eyes. They didn't need to help him, but they did anyway. Very Jedi, and very much worth his praise. Later. Right now he didn't want to make a big deal of it. This was a vacation, after all. He took up the book with a simple nod, cracking it open to the page he'd already bookmarked.

"The sounds of the waves are nice as a background noise. .. Do you know how to swim, Capris?" First time seeing an ocean didn't mean she hadn't swam before, but he had the feeling she, in fact, didn't know how.

"Rhemti, you mind teaching her for me?"

"If she doesn't know how, but wants to, then absolutely." He grinned wide, turning to Capris (once he'd set the umbrella up for Kahlil, of course), and gave a overdramatically large bow.

"How about it, m'lady? Care for a swimming lesson?" That goofball grin was wide across his face. He was more than excited to jump back into the surf, especially if it meant others would join him; swimming wasn't as fun alone.

For the first time ever, Rhemti glared at his master. For shame he should tease someone who was obviously nervous, and possibly make it worse by mentioning the one thing that could make anyone new to swimming frightened.

Without another thought, Rhemti physically turned away from Kahlil, putting all of his focus into his fellow Padawan. "You don't have to fully submerge yourself yet. Just get comfortable with the feeling of the water first." The Nautolan took two steps forward, that way he could be ahead of her to help if needed. "Just take a step in. Once you feel more comfortable, take another."

A warm, reassuring smile crossed Rhemti's face, and he even extended a hand to her, just in case it might help her to feel more grounded in such new territory.

"Don't drown, Capris."

"That's a very real possibility." The girl retorted, shucking off her shoes with renewed resolve. Alright, no more dillydallying, a little H2O never hurt anyone.

To Rhemti's outstretched hand the girl blinked a moment before registering the gesture. Oh right, he was trying to help. Unlike a certain Master. With a tight-lipped smile Capris took the offer, subconsciously squeezing his hand justttt a bit too hard as her eyes latched onto the waves.

"Thankss." With a shaky breath, Capris took one step. And then another. And another. Very quickly finding herself waist deep as her arms hovered cautiously above the waves. Ok this wasn't awful-

Just then a school of fish weaved between them, prompting the girl to shuffle back. "Hooo- what the hell was that?"

Suffice to say even the ocean's less well guarded secrets were still novel to the desert dweller.

Kahlil watched on and off, glancing up to the two just to make sure that Capris, indeed, wasn't going to drown. But for the most part, he left them on their own. Jedi always looked after their own. In a way, this was a good lesson on them learning to trust one another. And for them both to make friends, probably. Rhemti had his home town and siblings to get used to having good relationships.

Capris, not so much. Hopefully Rhemti would do the once street rat some good in being okay with still being a kid.

So, back to the book he went. The one he was writing, anyway. Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el was going to need something to look over at some point if they were actually going to write the book together.

Just then a school of fish weaved between them, prompting the girl to shuffle back. "Hooo- what the hell was that?"

Rhemti smiled warmly; well, as reassuring and warm as he could while trying not to laugh. She clearly wasn't used to bodies of water, and it was far from fair for him to make fun of her; he hoped what chuckle did make its way through wouldn't offend her in any way. He kept his hand extended, whether she let go of it when she shuffled back or held on; Rhemti would just stand patiently waiting for her.

"Just a school of fish, Capris. Nothing to be afraid of. The most they'll do is maybe bump into your leg curiously; they're harmless." The Nautolan would speak calmly, giving his female companion all the time in the world. "Take another step in, whenever you're ready. We'll start by floating, alright? We won't even have to go any deeper than this until you're ready."

"Riiiight." Capris looked down with healthy skepticism all while the fish filtered past. "Ok yeah floating- I can do that."

Had she before? No. Was she about to wildly flail around. Most likely. But she took the risk, allowing herself to be lead until her feet struggled to touch the sandy basin below.

What followed was frantic kicking, which did manage to keep her afloat, but also had the side effect of showering Rhemti in sea water.

"Shitshitshit, sorryyy."

Rhemti laughed gently as he got splashed in the face, eyes closing shut more out of surprise than pain. "It's alright, Capris. It's just water; I'll survive this time." He hoped his light hearted demeanor would help to calm her.

"You're kicking; that's great. You're 'treading' water now. If you want to float, you'll have to stop. Take calm, deep breaths, relax your body, and tilt your head back." As Rhemti spoke he moved, physically showing her all the while holding her hand as he relaxed and slowly his legs would drift up until he was laying, floating amongst the gentle surf.
