Intent: To create an item that originated in Companion Esk that aids in the mental clarity of those who possess it and imparts a defense against illusions.
Development Thread: N/A; if desired I can site the thread I am having Naimes discover and purchase the item in though.
Manufacturer: Alistair Leon; Scientist of the Minds Eye (Companion Esk, NPC Denizen)
Model: N/A
Affiliation: Companion Esk
Modularity: None
Production: Semi-Unique (5)
Material: Kasha Crystal, Assorted Metals, Lenses, Gears

Description: The Naat Naa'taylir Talisman's were discovered on planet NW-3 in the Companion Esk system by Naime's ahn-Dross created by the Inventor Alistair Leon who claimed he had studied the minds eye and had discovered a way to pierce illusion and mental obstruction with his talents. The Talisman's were the pinnacle of his inventing career which by all accounts had only seen minor success otherwise.

The Talisman's themselves are a metallic frame each with a Kasha Crystal as the epicenter and several lenses overlapping that along with gears and various other miniscule moving parts hidden within the shell. There are small dials on the back of the talisman which can be used to focus the different lenses over the Kasha Crystal inside to varying degrees and a switch that will lock them in place once the desired attunement is reached. In terms of weight the talisman's are relatively light. They are often worn around the neck or can be carried easily fitting into the palm of whomever is holding them.

-----------------------

Naat Naa'taylir Talisman's, which roughly translates into True Seeing Talisman's, impart exceptional clarity onto their owners drawing on the natural ability of the Kasha Crystal to clear the mind of distractions. It allows its wearer to focus even in the face of distractions and threats or in the heat of combat. A Naat Naa'taylir Talisman's greatest boon however is that it imparts the ability to see through illusions, even those created by the force, via the level of clarity it bestows.

The science behind this involves the use of the various lenses that are focused over the Kasha crystal and used to amplify its natural qualities to greater heights and therefore enhanced mental clarity. Sunlight, or any other source of bright direct light, is used to attune and unlock the properties of the crystal for the talisman when the light filters through the lenses that have been focused.

Drawbacks include the need to power the talisman with light. A full day of focused light to attune and unlock the innate power of the Kasha crystal will bestow half that in an amount of time for the talisman to function. Once its allotted time expires the talisman must be attuned again. Also, the talisman's are sturdy but can easily be destroyed by a blow from anything from a ballistics round to a blaster bolt; it makes no difference.

-------------------------

Strengths
-Imparts an enhanced level of focus and mental clarity to its owner. This is effective in combat and when fatigue would otherwise impair the mental clarity of the wearer.
-Allows the wearer to pierce illusions created via mundane means and Force Illusion, an extension of the core Mind Trick power.
-Unable to penetrate the illusions created by the White Current however may sense something off about them.

Weaknesses
-Is not effective against Force Cloak, the specialized form of illusions manifest by the White Current or the racial ability of the Croke unless otherwise stated above.
-The Talisman's are durable however a blow from a lightsaber, ballistic round or blaster bolt is sufficient enough to cause damage that would render the talisman useless until repaired.

Without Dev Threads
  • Please place in a list format special features and weaknesses.
  • I need clarity on the type of mental illusion this is able to see through. IE Illusions via the standard mental mind trick illusions, Light-bending, White Current, Sith Sorcery, or a Croke. Please pick one.
With Dev Threads
  • If we are talking lightbending, White Current, or a Croke, I will need a quality dev thread of for this of 20 posts per type of advanced illusion it can see through to be comparable to the precedent set by Valik with Truth.
  • The more it can see through types of advanced illusions, ( photobending and white current) the more I will need you to drop production to semi-unique and so forth.
Suggestions
  • I love this concept!

I've made some small edits and entered the Strengths/Weaknesses outline that you asked for. In my opinion the talisman would only be effective against Force Illusion, the extension of the Mind Trick power, and would not be able to penetrate the White Current or the Croke as they are more specialized applications of illusionary prowess. I also don't consider Force Cloak to be an actual illusion, my opinion only, as the bending of light renders it more a camouflage so the talisman would likewise be ineffective against that. I've listed all three in the weakness section of the submission.

Under strengths I added that the talisman's owner might feel something off about the illusions created by the White Current but wouldn't actually be able to penetrate them in any way. This is because they are still illusions, merely much more advanced and powerful, as associated with say the Force Illusion power in a sense. I'm not really set on this ability so if you feel it requires hefty development I'm happy to remove it from the submission.

Let me know where we stand.
