Naakla Jorhaa'ir (Republic/Mandos)

OOC: Just the designated ambassadors for the two factions please. Keep this simple.

The old man would watch the aruetiise enter the Oyu'baat and step down the shallow staired entrance and into the main hall of the cantina. Strider was the mandalorian they would looking for along with Anija Ordo. The two Field Marshals had nested themselves in one of he private booths along the walls, with clear view of the entrance, that had sliding wooden privacy walls. Was not his favorite perch with in this establishment. The beverage side of the two long curved counters that made up the center piece of the Oyu'baat was his regular patronic seat. He only took up a private booth when there was business of state at hand or private dealings that needed to be done.

Today was a matter of state and Strider and Anija had the most aptitude for diplomacy over most of their closest Vode. Or the ones with the most patience, probably something that came with his old age and her intelligence.

He wasn't going to get up and march over there to greet them. This place was not a place of formalities, just a comfortable atmosphere to get business done with and straight to the point. Once he caught their attention, the mando would take a long sip of his spiced caffa and then a long puff on his cigar to put himself at ease. He had been under a lot of stress of late, orchestrating a masterful campaign against the One Sith and this upstart faction known as the Primevil. But, war was war, the galaxy still moved on and did not stop to let its children finish their squabbles. So the old mando had to wear many hats (Like most mandos) and streamline the arts of war with the day to day of life. All of it was like moving peices on a Dejarik board and playing against the unknown in the dark. Just never know what will come next..........

He looked too Anija, a new Field Marshal. A female warrior deserving the rank who was well suited to being here. Fresh blood, fresh senses are an asset for such important work. The old man has sat in the High ranks for a very long time and honestly believed that it would be refreshing to have the younger pups to start leading. Not that he would retire....... but never know. He didn't say anything to her, his eyes would do most of the talking. The old man just wanted to get this formality over with, make their honorable oath and get on with bleeding their enemies together.

Sat there, patiently for the republic designates to approach the table. Those that know mandalorians know this was as good as it gets for fancy work.

Kayleigh hadn't stepped on to Mandalorian soil in a very long time. She respected them, after all they were renowned across the galaxy as incredibly gifted warriors with a dedicated form of social structure. So when she heard that the heads of their governing body wished for a meeting with the Republic, she wasted no time. Though rather than risk raising eyebrows and causing unnecessary headaches, the admiral and acting military chief reluctantly left behind the Caledonia in Republic space. Opting for a simple shuttle instead, she landed at the Mandalorian capital's starport. The blonde woman wore only simple Navy fatigues which would only indicate her name and rank, however would be covered by an overcoat so not to attract too much unwanted attention. These were not Republic allies, and there was no Republic law here. She was nobody in this region of space, and that was potentially dangerous, especially when unarmed amongst a city of strangers.

She checked her comm and noted that she had yet to hear from Lasedri. Kayleigh shrugged, she knew the woman wouldn't be far behind. Making her way through the crowd she managed to get some directions as to the location of the cantina that would serve as the meeting place for this encounter. The Oyu'baat. Odd name as it were she located it without too much trouble and entered, looking around for a few brief moments before catching the eye of [member="Strider Garon"]. The man seemed to be waiting for someone, and was looking at her for far too long to be simply gazing in the general direction.

Approaching the two that sat at the table she nodded, adjusting her jacket slightly before sitting and leaning towards the pair already seated. Her voice was soft and quiet.

"I have to assume by the look you gave as I walked in that you're waiting for me and a few others for a bit of a discreet meeting? I don't believe the others have landed yet, but they should be here shortly."

Location: Oyu'baat

It was strange. The last time Anija had set foot in this building, it was to lay the groundwork for the formation of the Protectors. Then, they had been a bit more circumspect. Now though, they were meeting in the relative openness of the main room instead of a more private setting. While Anija might argue for more privacy and security, she could understand why Strider had chosen as he had.

On the one hand, while a more private setting could be more secure, it might also put the RepublIc representatives on edge. Meeting here meant two things. First, that Strider was trying to put them at ease (she hoped). And second, that the Field Marshals were trying to be more transparent about their activities. That at least, she could support.

Frowning slightly, she watched the woman enter the Oyu'baat. Even with the jacket, she noticed the fatigues underneath. A slight smile touched her lips at that and she took a measured sip of her behot and nodded to the other woman, indicating a seat across from them. "Welcome. I am Field Marshal Anija Ordo, and this Field Marshal Strider Garon. Thank you fire coming on such short notice. Can I get you some tea or something to eat?"

Intangible breached the skies of Mandalore after the captain had announced its presence, purpose, and intention to land. Some security codes that the Mandalorians had provided were also transmitted so that they would be aware that the vessel belonged to the Republic leader. A stealth ship was not usually regarded without suspicion, of course. These protocols were beyond necessary if the ambassadors wished to avoid being shot down.

The Chief of Senate might have taken a more 'official' shuttle at another time, but the present situation was just too volatile for her to feel safe that way. The Mandalorians would certainly understand. They had voiced their desires for allegiance talks in order to bring the Republic officials here.

Geneviève had worked with Mandalorians before, some having accompanied her while she was still in the field and directing the Rebel Alliance, another, [member="Anastasia Rade"], happening to be the CEO of her company. So she was a bit familiar with their ways, but this was indeed the first time she had traversed the territory of the Clans. It appeared that some things out here were different than what she was used to, but some things were not so different.

Upon landing, Chief Lasedri was escorted in a landspeeder in rather hush-hush fashion, onward to some cantina. That made her a bit uneasy, to tell the truth. Did this people not have an official, secured building of some sort to discuss such important matters? It mattered little to her if it was 'the Mando way'. It just did not settle with her.

Taking easy steps as she walked into the meetingplace, the draping folds of that trenchoat of old flapped behind her with each step. It was just like one of those Alliance days. This was perhaps the most unofficial official meeting she had ever attended since taking office. The glances from their Mandalorian diplomatic associates were wary, trust seemingly evident, but caution the prime deliverer here. Gen was cautious as well, but it was a little too late for that at this point. She was here and at the mercy of their hosts.

That was not cool with her.

But she was here. "Su cuy'gar." Her pronunciation may not have been perfect, but it sounded one hundred times better than the first time she had used the traditional greeting. This is how your government works?

Strider's dark sullen eyes fell upon two female republic ambassadors. He nodded in greetings to them both and motioned for them to sit. But first, he wanted to answer [member="Geneviève Lasedri"] question on the Mandalorian Government. " We place little importance on birthplace or citizenship, and so we have no official "state" as understood by galactic politics. Our society is a classical meritocracy, where rank and status means nothing in comparison to a being's actions and achievements. Mandalorian clans are led by chieftains and that loose affiliation and cooperation between them is the closest we have to a standard government" Strider would pause, to take a sip of his spiced caffa, one of his favorite non alcoholic drinks. "We all are subordinate to our Mand'alor who is probably the only closest parallel to your head-of-state. For the most part mandalorians can't be ruled. One just makes sensible suggestions they want to follow....... and usually mandalorians don't need to be told what makes sense"

"Over many millennias, the Mandalorians fought with and against a thousand armies on a thousand worlds. We learned to speak as many languages and absorbed weapons technology and tactics from every war. And yet, despite the overwhelming influence of alien cultures, and the absence of a true species, our language not only has survived but changed little, our way of life and philosophy remains untouched, and our ideals and sense of family, of identify, of nation, has only strengthened." Strider would wave his arms about to all the mandalorians that were minding their own business with in the tapcaf "In keeping with our aversion to a centralized government, we have no palaces or offices for our leaders to occupy, and most business on Mandalore is conducted here at the Oyu'baat tapcafe . So yes Ms. Lasedri, this is how we work and has done us well thus far"

Now that the brief mandalorian history lesson was over, it was time to get to business "We have invited you, the republic, to join us in this fine establishment to discuss military alliance. We have the same enemies and would do best working side by side rather then alone against the darkness that threatens to engulf both our nations. So what say you to this?"

[member="Anija Ordo"] [member="Kayleigh Tyven"] [member="Geneviève Lasedri"]

Kayleigh nodded to both Anija and Strider as she took her seat. the blonde lifted her hand and waved as Anija asked her question. "No, thank you. I am fine." No sooner did she answer did Lasedri enter the establishment. She braced herself and put on the most impressive fake smile she could have ever pulled off. The queen managed to get her rump off the cushy Senate chair? Impressive. Although this time it wouldn't appear that Lasedri would be doing a long tirade about whatever it was she wanted to go on about. Instead, it would be Strider who gave a brief history of the Mandalorian people. The blonde admiral didn't need a history lesson though, anyone in the Republic who knew anything of military might and prowess knew about the Mandalorians. Wish I took that drink offer now.

At the conclusion of Strider's introduction to Mandalore 101, the final three sentences were the nitty gritty that she was interested in. Her interest now peaked, she smiled toward the field marshal. "You have my attention. I have considered this proposition myself, behind closed doors, and toiled over the idea numerous times. As our nations lean back to back it would seem to be logistically sound to aide one another through military sponsorship, armaments, and forces."

Leaning back in the chair she looked upwards, lost in thought for a moment while she contemplated things. "So, are you looking strictly for aide on a military scale? Troops, armor, ships, etc? Or are you looking to also secure deals for Republic and Mandalorian trade and financial deals in the form of a full and open alliance?" She turned towards Lasedri, no doubt the woman who loved to bark at her through a holocommunicator on the daily had something to share.

[member="Strider Garon"] | [member="Geneviève Lasedri"] | [member="Anija Ordo"]

Well, that was quite the history lesson. It was a bit beyond what Geneviève had asked for. In fact, she really had only made a passing thought. But at least she was culturally aware now. While Geneviève had doubts of the function of what had been described as a rather anarchist society, the fact was that the Mandalorians still existed as a nation in some sense. There was little to argue against an organization that had prevailed through the years. Certainly all was not so orderly and serene about the clans, but neither was everything in the very Republic she represented.

But they were working out a treaty--or, at least, that was the premise--so there was no need for the Chief of Senate to linger on such musings. They had a mutual enemy to snuff out, and that was why they were here--nothing more. She assumed their hosts knew a little bit about the Republic, so she spared them a history of her own nation.

"I'd like to know just how much your military can offer. As I have gathered from your elaboration on the community of the United Clans, I believe we are all on the same page as far as the need for self-sufficiency is concerned. We can't fund you, burc'ya." Having ownership of a company run by Anastasia Rade, the Republic's political leader had come across certain words that might be useful in such diplomatic situations. She truly hoped she had not butchered her pronunciation, however. "And I would not expect such from your people, either. I'm aware of how disastrous the triple-front attack was six years ago--for all of us.

"I only ask how you plan to cooperate with Republic policies. And..." She paused, hoping that her present company would not make a bigger deal out of her upcoming words than necessary. "Are you willing to cooperate alongside Jedi?" That was an important question. And the truth was, Lasedri would take either answer positively.

Anija's eyes narrowed slightly at Ms. Lasedri's use of the Mando'a term. It made her cautious. She was certainly aware of [member="Anastasia Rade"]'s company, and it's affiliation with the Republic. That, she had no issue with. What she found troubling was that such use implied a level of trust and familiarity that neither woman had earned... yet. Shaking her head at herself mentally, Anija flexed her fingers around her behot mug, and looked towards Strider for a few seconds as she tried to formulate a response.

She felt as if she were going into the whole situation a bit blind. Anija knew personally what the majority of the Mandalorian military strength was when it came to vessels. Manpower though, was another issue entirely. Another look to Strider, and then Anija shrugged. "From my understanding, it's not funding we're looking for. More the manpower than anything else. Sure, we have the ships, and the tech... but... right now, we severely lack the people needed to man those ships."

A slow breath as Lasedri continued. "And what policies would those be? If we are to cooperate with Republic policy, it is only fair that your people do the same with ours in return." The last question made Anija pause and tap a couple fingers on her chin as she thought about it. From a personal standpoint, she had no problem with it. But, in the same respect, she knew all too well what the overall feelings regarding Force users were among the Mandalorians.

"As Anija said, we need the manpower and to combine our forces to shield us against the Sith and company's advances. I also see no harm in opening up trade routes between our two nations as galactic geography has made us neighbors. History has made us friends. Economics will make us partners while necessity will make us allies." Strider would reply before taking another sip of his beloved spiced caffa "Now, what are these policies you speak of?" Strider wanted to make this a simple meeting almost a yes or no to alliance but this [member="Geneviève Lasedri"] wanted to get into the nitty gritty of partnership, almost like the ugly business of marriage that Strider has spent decades avoiding.

[member="Anija Ordo"] [member="Kayleigh Tyven"]

Kayleigh nodded to those gathered. She understood the necessity for combining their forces and working together to overcome their enemies as one solid, unified group. They would need to put to rest any past history and rivalry in order to do so, and Kayleigh had hoped that this would be the start of a long standing relationship with their galactic neighbors.

"Understood. I am willing to lend our forces to you, and vice versa. Though where my command stops is where Lasedri's begins. You'll need to get her Senate stamp of approval before I have the OK to supply any manpower or ships. The cost of a bureaucratic government I'm afraid. Consider my vote cast in this meeting. Whatever Republic policies there are Gen will be the one to direct that ship. I don't get involved with politics outside of the military. Messy business."

[member="Strider Garon"] | [member="Anija Ordo"] | [member="Geneviève Lasedri"]

"That policy is simply abiding by our rules within our territories and controlled operations," Lasedri clarified after Tyven had completed her little commentary. Messy business, indeed. "And, yes, I would expect us to behave the same when within your borders. This is simply an alliance, last I checked." She nodded to each of the Mandalorian representatives, pondering what exactly Strider was striding for beyond this simple collaboration against a mutual enemy.

"I didn't recall any economics being discussed, however. I was under the impression that this was more of a military unity. Lend-lease and all that." There was always something deeper. She would know this well.

[member="Anija Ordo"], [member="Strider Garon"], [member="Kayleigh Tyven"]

"These are terms I can agree with. When its your party, we play by the house rules. When its our party the same goes to you. Simplistic at its best" Strider nodded in agreement. There was no point in making complex treatise, especially when annihilation was looming over both nations by the same enemies. Complex would only serve to slow them down. "So lets all agree on just Military Alliance. Economical treatises can be discussed at a later date by folks more qualified at credit counting then I be"
