OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To simply add a little more enemies to encounter when out on certain planets. :} torture's fun.
  • Image Credit: Image credit to: Joseph Diaz
  • Canon: No
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: none
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Murk-kin/ Murkies/ Murks
  • Designation: Semi-sentient
  • Origins: Dagobah, but they can be found on similar planets. Evolved naturally from localized Sith-spawn
  • Average Lifespan: 45 Earth Standard Years
  • Estimated Population: Inter-Planetary
  • Description: Standing no higher than the average human's waist, a Murk-kin seemingly poses little to no threat, but when three more of them drop onto your back when you're observing one from afar, then they seem quite a little more threatening. The average Murk-kin bares no eyes, one nostril and a maw filled with long, sharp canines. A Murk-kin's claws are just as sharp as their teeth, and their innate sense of smell. They have quite the voracious appetite to boot. A single Murk-kin can devour an entire adolescent human in under three minutes. Murks are nocturnal hunters by genetic means.
PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Types I-III
  • Average Height of Adults: 1-1.3 meters
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color: dark brown with reddish-indigo accents
  • Hair color: N/A
  • Distinctions: An all unisex species, reproduces via unknown means (no records to date have observed any mating behavior).
  • Races: Murks do not differ much from one another, only the smallest changes like tooth size have ever been observed.
  • Force Sensitivity: All
Strengths:
  • Primal Force senses; every Murk-kin can "feel" other force users within a seven meter radius, although based on side (light or dark) they will have different reactions. (see history for more detail).
  • Telekinetic Force-link; they can communicate from afar through the force. Presumably....
  • Keen smell; they can smell blood through the air like (insert water predator here) can smell blood through water.
  • Pack Tactics; when in doubt, AMBUSH EVERYTHING.
Weaknesses:
  • Short; easily vanquished in a "mono y mono."
  • Blind; they have no eyes... so naturally they cannot see.
  • Untrained force capabilities; so far, they are untrainable, making them only able to use the force to sense other force-users and communicate with each other.
  • Fearful-underling; they fear the power of the Sith. (aka; the dark side, if you somehow didn't know that).
CULTURE
  • Diet: Carnivorous
  • Communication: The Murk-kin seem to have a telekinetic link via (presumably) the force, although they have been observed to snarl at each other when fighting over fresh carcasses.
  • Technology level: Primal
  • Religion/Beliefs: Murks do not believe in belief.
  • General behavior: As stated above, there have been no observances or claims that Murks mate, and moreover no young have been observed. So far all that is known is that they just... appear from caves or small holes in the ground....
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
  • Murks first appeared on the bog-planet Dagobah mere decades after a Sith experiment took place involving two lesser (one sentient force user, the other a savage ape) beings' DNA. While the data of the initial experiment was lost, some inferences can be made based off of clues in the mere looks of Murks as to what really happened.
  • Murks have been observed to face the nightly-sky when hunts are transpiring. It seems that Murks can hone in on the individual's own force sense to sense their location.
  • Murks have been known to lay clever ruses in hopes that a researcher may fall prey to their trickery. As of now, more than 200 deaths are reported annually on Dagobah. Other planets that the Murks inhabit are not currently under watch, so are therefore not counted in the Casualties Report.
  • It is widely assumed that Murks have stowed away on or are smuggled by passing ships every now and then. Causing more and more suitable planets to become inhabited by these invasive beings.
  • Murks have been observed to act more aggressively towards light-sided force users and more obedient towards dark-sided force users. Although, no dark-sider or even Sith has been able to train a Murk to hone it's natural force abilities, so it is unknown just how powerful these creatures could become.... Perhaps it is best we do not find out.
  • Murks have been observed to show slight intelligence and problem-solving capabilities, as one Experiment involved a carcass placed inside of a cage. A solitary Murk found out how to open the latch in under a minute. Then it choked on a bone and perished, the Murk in question was nicknamed Cecil by some of the seasoned researchers on Dagobah. The whole researcher community on Dagobah held a memorial service for Cecil, it ended up being postponed indefinitely due to a mass-Murk ambush. More than 700 seasoned researchers where lost that day. The incident in question was dubbed the "Cecil Incident" to serve as a substitute for the memorial.
  • Murks seem to resemble basic-primate behavior, and have shown similar prowess, a few have been observed to sharpen sticks and use rocks for hunting. They have also been observed to throw refuse-excrement at unwanted buffet guests.
  • Murks who near the end of their life-expediencies have been observed to take shelter in caves and small holes before never appearing again. Strangely, a group of up to seven completely new Murks will usually come crawling out of the same cave within five years. It is unknown if this has any correlation to reproduction, but this theory does seem promising. However, the remains of the older Murk can never be recovered. As most seem to disappear entirely, so nothing can be confirmed.

and with this somewhat humorous entry complete, I leave it to the judges! Hopefully that get a good ol' chuckle from the end bits!
