- Name: Murgliks
- Designation: Non-Sentient (with rare, semi-sentient variants)
- Origins: Sith alchemical labs on Valrar, under the direction of Lucette
- Average Lifespan: 3–5 years (usually less due to explosive reproduction)
- Estimated Population: Planetary (rapid spread once introduced)
- Description: Murgliks are deceptively adorable Sithspawn creatures resembling fluffy, round puffballs with large eyes and gleaming fur. While harmless in appearance, they are ravenous omnivores with no sense of self-preservation and the uncanny ability to consume Light Side energy. When overfed with such energy, they violently explode into glittering spores that rapidly multiply. Their combination of cuteness, chaos, and corrosive biology makes them a living hazard in both Sith and Jedi territories.
- Breathes: Type I atmosphere
- Average Height of Adults: 0.25 meters
- Average Length of Adults: 0.3 meters
- Skin Color: Usually unseen; dark reddish-black underneath the fur
- Hair Color: Deep crimson, charcoal gray, shimmering violet, sometimes iridescent with light-reactive shine
- Distinctions:
- Spherical in body shape with dense, iridescent fur
- Large red or violet eyes that glow faintly in the dark
- Retractable rows of needle-like teeth
- A secondary gland on their underside excretes a corrosive acid after digestion
- No visible limbs, but they bounce and roll with shocking agility
- Rare specimens grow small horns and display higher intelligence
- Races: N/A
- Force Sensitivity: Rare (some variants exhibit Force sensitivity, often with unpredictable effects)
- Consumes Light Side Energy: Murgliks are drawn to Light-aligned sources, feeding on Force-wielders, holocrons, Jedi artifacts, and sacred places with great ease.
- Explosive Reproduction: Upon absorbing enough Light Side energy, a Murglik explodes into glittering spores that grow into new Murgliks within hours.
Corrosive Acid: Their digestive acid can eat through durasteel, hull plating, and even certain lightsaber-resistant materials.
- Zero Self-Preservation: Murgliks charge into danger blindly, often dying due to stupidity or overeating. They're easily baited or tricked.
- Explosive Hazard: Their Light Side-induced explosions are unpredictable and can cause collateral damage in combat or containment settings.
- Fragile Individually: A single Murglik is easily destroyed; their danger lies in their numbers and spread.
- Diet: Omnivore. Eats organics, inorganics, machinery, wiring, garbage, Light Side energy, and Force-imbued artifacts. Will try to eat anything.
- Communication: High-pitched chirps, squeaks, and purring. Advanced specimens can mimic words or phrases. Smart Murgliks use group body language and pattern movement.
- Technology level: None. They are not a technological species but have been known to accidentally disable or overload systems by nesting inside machinery.
- Religion/Beliefs: N/A though Lucy jokes that they "worship explosions, chaos, and cuddles."
- General behavior: Murgliks exist to consume, reproduce, and squeak. They travel in bouncing clusters, imprint on Force users, and may follow Dark Siders with obsessive loyalty. They exhibit pack behavior, often grouping around the strongest Dark Side user or artifact in the vicinity. Rare smart Murgliks (called “Sparklords” by Lucy) can organize small herds, mimic speech, and open doors. They are neither diurnal nor nocturnal, they simply are, always bouncing, always hungry.
Originally designed as a side project by Lucette, half as a joke, half as a biological experiment, the Murgliks were never intended to be a weapon. Lucy claims she wanted something to cheer up apprentices in training, a fluffy mascot that could "clean up holocron crumbs" around Sith temples. However, the result was far more chaotic.
Murgliks were born in her grandmother’s lab on Valrar, created from mutated pest DNA, Sith alchemy, and essence alchemy from various holocrons. The first Murglik exploded after consuming a Jedi kyber crystal, and the result was catastrophic sparkle-based multiplication.
Since then, Murgliks have escaped into the wider galaxy via smugglers, careless Sith acolytes, and rogue agents who thought they'd make cute mascots. One Murglik infestation famously disabled an entire Jedi Enclave by digesting its archives and erupting into over 300 sparkling progeny. Cleanup took six months and cost three archivists their minds.
Lucy maintains a breeding pen of her “best and brightest” Murgliks on a secured asteroid facility. She’s been known to gift them, carefully contained, to allies, or leave them as ticking time-bombs in Light Side strongholds.
