SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Packs a Mean Punch: Like the Thunderer and DT-29 of centuries past, the Mule is one mean mother, capable of making even heavily-armored combatants think twice about crossing its wielder.
  • Keeps it Together: The large blaster bolts fired by the hand cannon stay consistent over very long distances, allowing the weapon to almost serve as a pocket sniper.
  • Durable: The Mule is as capable at taking beatings as it is delivering them, and a Mule will last you for years to come. It is so durable, in fact, that Morellian Mechanica advertises that it can be utilized as a club in dire circumstances.
WEAKNESSES
  • Slow as Molasses: The blaster pistol requires a second or two between shots due to the power output of each blast, so you better hope the first shot kills or disables if you're in a tight space.
  • Heavy as Hell: You better strap the Mule to a good, tight belt if you want your pants staying up, because a purse pistol this ain't. When you carry a Mule it will feel like you have a brick strapped to your thigh, and this can make quick aiming difficult as well as necessitating the use of both hands when wielded by beings of average human-level strength.
  • Recoil: The Mule earns its namesake from the heavy recoil produced by each blast, which despite the low rate of fire can make it difficult to keep the pistol on target.
DESCRIPTION
Power.

If there was a single word that personified the Mule, it would be power. While the Mule is a blaster pistol, to call such a weapon a sidearm would be a gross misclassification; the Mule is advertised as being able to stop a charging Reek in its tracks, and while (understandably) not many would like to personally test this claim the stopping power of the Mule is undeniable. The hand cannon was designed to deal with large predatory animals, which also lends itself well to putting heavily-armored gangers in their place. The high-power bolts output by the Mule's rylith power cells also stay accurate and consistent over great distances, allowing it to be used at longer ranges than a standard heavy blaster pistol. Finally, the Mule is so reliable and durable it can be used as a bludgeon in a pinch, a fact that the weapon is actually advertised with.

With that being said, no weapon is without its flaws and the Mule is no exception. Those who wonder where the pistol got its name wonder no more once they squeeze the trigger: to put it mildly, it kicks like a queen, so you best have a tight grip on it. As such, the high power output also results in a low rate of fire and longer draw times, and its cylindrical rylith power cells must be replaced every six shots. The Mule is also very heavy, even by heavy blaster pistol standards, which can slow down draw times and essentially necessitates the use of both hands if wielded by a creature that does not possess inhuman strength or cybernetic arms.

For those with steady hands, iron grips, and keen eyes the Mule is a powerful beast, but for those lacking it is an unruly animal.
