Public Much Naboo About Nothing

NABOO
Theed

The gleaming sun beamed down on the city of Theed as it always did. Naboo seemed to be in a perpetual state of paradise, the idyllic landscape bathed in sunlight. It was a planet that Jaered adored growing up and he could never imagine himself leaving. Others had talked about journies amidst the stars, seeing the galaxy and everything it had to offer. Whilst Jaered was definitely one for adventure, he did not want to distance himself that much from the ones he loved. His planet offered plenty of excitement whilst still allowing him to be home in time for dinner. He spent many days in the emerald fields dotted with herds of shaak and climbing perlote trees on the outskirts of the swampland.

That all changed the day that hell fell from the sky.

The day that creatures rampaged through the elegant streets of Theed was the last day that he saw his family. Now all that remained was the faint echo of the people they once were. Home was now a constant reminder of what he had lost. Jaered no longer knew his place in the galaxy. Alone in the capital city surrounded by people. Years passed and Theed was seemingly back to the way it was beforehand, albeit with an odd sense of gloom about the place. Damage was repaired and a memorial was erected but life was continuing as it once was.

Stalls lined the city square as the market buzzed with activity. Jeared sauntered along, looking at the fabrics and food that were on offer as DD3 scurried along beside him. The boy never went anywhere without his mechanical sidekick, especially nowadays. He was one of the few remaining things of a life lost. Jaered approached a stall as the droid held back. Giving a warm smile to the merchant, he picked up a vibrant purple fruit with an expression of wonder. "Oh wow, is this a jogun fruit?" he began, not giving the seller time to respond. "It looks so ripe. This is some good quality produce." The man boasted about his imports and that he would not taste anything sweeter in the galaxy. "I bet. And what are these? I've never seen anything like this?" he asked as he gestured to a fruit he had definitely seen before.

Maintaining the seller's attention, DD3 piled as much food as his little arms could carry, ensuring to stay behind the man and out of sight. "I'll take two of these," said Jaered, picking up some fruit. Placing some credits into the man's hand, he wished him a good day as he turned and calmly walked away. DD3 quickly waddled after him with the mound of food, dropping one as his lanky legs struggled to keep up. Jaered purposefully did not look back until he heard a voice call out: "Hey! Stop that droid!"

He momentarily turned to look before darting off into the crowd, DD3 close behind. Now that it was just him to fend for himself, the credits did not cover as much as they used to. He had to find other ways to get buy in the lavish city. As he ran, Jaered slipped a sack from his shoulders as DD3 dumped the contents into it. The pair turned a corner as they both stopped, this routine being enacted before. Jaered pushed the 'nose' of the blue droid, collapsing him into a compact form that he slipped over his head into the compartment on his back with a click. Not waiting for the chance for anyone to catch up with him, he jumped down off a ledge; a quicker route than using the stairs. Safely landing with bent knees, he continued to run. Turning a corner, he looked back to see if anyone was pursuing, unaware of the person before him, crashing headfirst into them before there was time to react...

Naboo was a very political planet but it also heals a wealth of beauty. As a Jedi Seeker it was Marnies job to find Force sensitive individuals and take them to Coruscant so the Jedi could train them. This duty took her all over the galaxy and today that meant Naboo.

She was in Theed and her day was pretty routine until a young man ran straight into her. They both toppled over into a vegetable stand.

“What’s going on? Are you alright?”

Marnie looked up to see the stand owner fussing over them.

“Yes.. who hit me?”

The loose sack that was hanging from Jaered's shoulder slipped off during the collision, fruit rolling from within the fabric and onto the floor. Immediately, he went to scoop what was dropped and quickly put them back into the bag. "I'm so sorry," he said to the woman as he was knelt down, not looking up at her. Skittishly, he peered back to see if he was still being pursued. In his mind, he scolded himself for carelessly not looking where he was going. He needed to be more careful; he could not allow himself to be arrested by the patrolling Security Guard over a few stolen fruit.

As he was down on the ground, the corner of his eye caught sight of a peculiar hilt at the woman's waist. It was not like any tool he had seen before and the casing was intricate. Jaered had heard tales of the great Jedi and their laser swords but he had never come across one in the flesh. The possibility that he could be in the presence of one made him even more anxious. Trying to act as though he saw nothing, he got to his feet.

"Sorry, I need to be somewhere," he blurted, not really answering her question as he rose. Jaered began to walk away at a quick pace - not too quick that it was evident that he was running. Not once did he make eye contact with the person he ran into. What if the Jedi could read minds? Who knows what sort of gifts a connection with the force gave them? It was better to avoid the incident entirely and be on his way. Instinctively, he checked that DD3 was still secured to his back as he walked past the woman and vegetable stall. Despite being on his own for some time now, Jaered still felt like a child amidst the people of his densely populated city.

The who turned out to be a man who had clearly stolen something. Marnie scooped down and started picking up the vegetables from the ground, placing them back on the stall , while the thief ogled her lightsaber.

The stall owner was understandably in a bad temper and Marnie apologized to her before she caught up with the shifty young man.

“Perhaps I could help you find a better strategy for meals? It doesn’t look like yours is working that well.”

She glanced over her shoulder at the local authorities who were now questioning the vegetable stall owner. The old woman quickly pointed to Marnie and the thief.

“Not well at all.”

Dorian Was on The planet of Naboo to secure a trade of Plasma to the People of Zakuul, while the great many questions, and deals went of Damion was in for his much needed break. His job required much to be taken out of him, but it was his requirement to do so

For his much needed break he wanted to go on a walk through the Streets of Theed, Taking in the sights, clean air, and the chattering of people. Upon his walk into the local marketplace he spotted a someone, Someone who would be thieving fruit from a local stall. While he would do nothing about it, he would walk past it and keep watch on what would happen. It was not long before the Young man and his droid ran with their prize.

'Some Excitement' He thought to himself as he smiled. Dorian was escorted by a custom Combat droid, that upon his order would quickly calculate the path that the man would run with the stolen goods.

Dorian Of course had little intention to intervein, unless things where to go bad for the boy.

The Guards would of course follow the boy, even when he ran into another. A woman, one that he could sense a connecting with the light. Dorian's Droid would take some defensive Position in case things go back, even if it was unlikely to do so.

Dorian Kept Watch over the situation wanting to see what would happen from within the crowd, waiting for a moment to intervein if needed

Jaered had hoped that the woman would just let him go but not it seemed that he had a Jedi trailing him. Even on a planet as idyllic as Naboo, someone always wanted something. He met her offer of help with skepticism and walked a little faster, also aware of the Guards approaching them. He had heard of the good nature that Jedi possessed and he presumed that he was about to be preached about how stealing was bad or that there was some safe place where he would never have to steal again. Jaered knew nothing about the woman and the presence of the odd-looking device at her waist did not necessarily mean that she was to be trusted.

Trying to appear calm so as to not confirm that he was the one they were after, he spoke to the woman without looking in her direction. "I paid for this food," he replied. It was true that he handed over credits for the fruit... just not all of it. That was better than stealing all of it, right? The two guards hurried after them but Jaered kept cool until they were a couple of metres away. Reaching into the sack, he picked out a round, orange fruit before pivoting on his heels to throw it at one of his pursuers. It flew with a fair amount of force and hit one square in the nose, causing him to stop momentarily and regain composure. Not waiting around, Jaered immediately sprinted down the alley, meandering between the fewer people that dotted the street than on the main plaza. He hoped that both the woman and the Guards would lose him but he was never that lucky.

Making his way through the crowd, Jaered's eyes lingered on a tall droid - a model that he had never seen before. Droids were always something that fascinated the boy; the way they functioned, looked, and acted. The best thing about them was they could always be rebuilt. People did not have that luxury. They were also easier to understand, following their programming yet experience shaped them into their own person. Despite what anyone else thought, Jaered thought of them as being more than just machines. If he was not in such a hurry, he would have stayed to observe them more.

He stopped in his tracks as two more Guards surfaced in front of him as he passed the peculiar droid. They seemed unaware of his presence until they noticed the ones chasing him. Now cornered from both sides, he paused amongst the sea of people, thinking about what the best route was. Looking to see if there were any security to his left, or if the potential Jedi had joined in to stop him, he deemed that the best direction, making his way towards some steps beside a building that would allow him to jump to its jade rooftop.

Well that didn’t work. Marnie sighed. Sometimes this job was more trouble than it was worth. The guards were hit in the face with fruit and the boy ran off.

The guards ran passed Marnie, towards the direction the thief was running and started yelling for help. Maybe the large battle droid would step in?

“Help! Stop that thief!!!” The guards yelled.

((You two go ahead and post. Im super slow because of work so I don’t want to hold you back. I will catch up when/if I can but please move forward.))

The droid was of course spotted by the boy, the dark presence close to the droid would so far go unnoticed, However seeing that the time to act was not he mad his move.

Before the Younger even had a chance to move from his position he was grabbed from the back of his shirt. This figure was a bit taller then the previous Jedi that he had bummped into not a minute prior.

"Relax boy, I mean you no harm" Stated the man in the darkened clothing, a Double-bladed Saber proudly exposed on his belt. The same droid did seem to be following this man, like it was his.

Eventually the guards did come to the two, The guards of course recognized the man as an envoy
"Sir that boy stole fruit from the stall and would be under arrest"
"What Him, I am sorry officer But sometimes my ward does get into trouble" Dorian Would pull a small bag from his coat and would toss it to the guards "I think that would...cover the price of the fruit and more" Of course he never knew this boy before today, but he would lie to at least try and protect him, using his reputaion as truth
Dorians words were oddly sweet to all would hear them, he was trained to speak to others after all

His efforts to run off were halted by a strong hand on his clothing. Jaered struggled in an attempt to get free before the man's voice pacified him. He was a fair bit taller than Jaered which was a little intimidating. Quickly yet subtly inspecting the figure, he noted yet another hilt similar to the one he had seen previously, only this one was longer and had two emitters. Never before had he seen such devices and now he had seen two in the space of a few minutes. It was as though force users were infesting the place and that did not necessarily mean anything good. Jaered's thoughts raced, thinking if the two he had met today were a sign of something big coming. Were the two on the same side, perhaps working together? Were they oppositions and the Guards were going to be the least of his worries?

He looked sheepishly at the authorities as they demanded to take him into custody. To his surprise, the dark-haired man covered for him and even paid them credits. Once he wrapped his head around it, he gave the Guards a smile as they glared at him, uncertain for a moment. As they walked away, apparently happy with the payoff, Jaered turned back in confusion. "Why did you do that?" he asked, his tone puzzled yet cautious.

Only now did he realise that the unique droid who had caught his eye was standing beside the man. His eyes wandered over it, taking it in before the man even had time to answer his question. Jaered felt like he should be on his way but the droid intrigued him. Plus, it was only polite to thank the person after he essentially bought his meal. Of course, he would have gotten away if he had not been grabbed, but either way, he got to keep the food. Albeit one fewer thanks to one fruit being used as a projectile. It had been a routine that had been carried out multiple times and he always found a way to slip between the cracks but this time, he did not need to. "Thank you," he finally said.

"Simply I was bored, No that would be a lie, I sensed a great power in you, and it would be a shame to let that go to waste" This was true as he could sense the potential within the would-be thief.

He noticed that he was invested into the droid by his side, His personal bodyguard was of course this droid. Dorian Stood still, his hands interlocked behind his back, much like a noble would. His dark presence would be felt even by the boy's force sensitivity. "Who is your teacher" He simply asked assuming that the boy could be a Padawan of the Jedi.

His voice despite his darkness was deep, but sweet. His droid kept still for the boy to look over, but would not be allowed to touch. As if the boy attempted to touch the droid, His hand would be grabbed quickly, or swatted away.

“So you‘ve graduated from harassing Jedi in their Temples to harassing young adults in the streets.” A familiar voice called down from the rooftops. The figure wrapped in an Armourweave shawl stepped off the edge of the roof. The keys in his boots fired up at the last second to slow his decent to a safe landing.

Truth be told, he didn’t come to Naboo to follow Damion. Valves had come to the planet in hopes of taking in the scenery and having some time to relax, but instead felt a familiar dark presence. So here he was. Once again face to face with Damion Dorian.

His droid Of course steeped in front of Dorian at this sudden surprise but for once Dorian would step forward in front of the droid "And I suppose you promoted yourself from stalker, to paid stalker" Of course this was only his assumption "I am here as a diplomatic Envoy, to promote Peace and trade for Naboos Plasma, to the Zakuul System for it is needed" He would simply explain

His hand did not reach for his blade as he was unconcerned with this man.

There was something unsettling about the man that Jaered could not explain. It was almost as if he could feel a tingling up the back of his neck or an uneasiness in the pit of his stomach. If he paid off his pursuers over boredom then he was evidently not lacking wealth but surely it would have been more entertaining to let the chase unfurl than to put a sudden end to it. His motives were questionable and he looked at him quizzically.

"There is nothing great about me, you must be mistaken," he deprecated. If this man was in fact a Jedi, that was probably a line they used to entice people to learn the ways of the Force and grow their numbers. Jaered did not think he had such power and surely they would have revealed themselves by now. The second question confused him further. "...I have finished my schooling." The whole interaction was odd to him and he was about to walk off before a second voice emerged and landed before them.

The two men evidently knew each other. As the diplomat was distracted, Jaered absentmindedly flicked the forearm of the droid, trying to discern what it was made from. Immediately, his wrist was seized by the droid. His shocked face looked up at the featureless droid. "Sorry," he said sheepishly. The metal rang out differently from what he was used to. It rang out longer than simple durasteel. It appeared to be some metal or alloy that he had not come across on astromechs or protocol droids. His arm still in the vice-like grip, Jeared spoke to the droid softly and inquisitively. "I've never met a droid like you before." He spoke to the ZDD-1 unit directly instead of his owner. Despite being manufactured and made of metal, he felt that droids were a being just as much as any shaak or kaadu.

In a flash, the droid grabbed the boy, and in the same instant, Valves had flicked aside his shawl ready to QuickDraw his blaster and unload it into the droid. “I suggest your droid release the boy, before there’s any trouble.” He eyes shifted between Damion and his droid. Trying to discern which would be the bigger threat. “Doesn’t look good for a diplomatic envoy to assault a young man.”

Valves’ eyes moved to the young man caught in the robot’s vice like grip. Oddly enough, the boy did not seem scared or worried. At the very least, if they were, they were hiding it very well. “You ok there young man?”

"My droid does not like being touched, Unless it is required, Besides, your blaster would only leave marks on it" He would slightly move closer to his droid, still unconcerned about the man who now had his blaster in the open "Cole let the boy go, Please don't touch my droid" He commanded at the droid, and told the young man before looking back to the scoundrel.

People were slowly coming in to see what the commotion was "Your not going to shoot me in a public place now are you?" He had a devilish smile on his lips

"Wow, hey!" Jaered yelled as the blaster was suddenly aimed in his direction. He would not have guessed that his day would have turned out like this. The chase was to be expected but two lightsaber wielders and a standoff in the middle of a crowded plaza were more than he had prepared for. People were so quick to turn to violence; it did not help in many situations. Not to mention that he was supposed to be the youngest there but paid witness to some childish superiority contest.

"It's not assault, merely a warning. I overstepped," he admitted, his palms spread as his right arm was still raised in the droid's grasp. "There's no need for guns." As the droid released his arm, Jaered flexed his fingers and brought his other hand to his wrist. The droid was strong but the pain subsided quickly. "Noted," he replied to the demand.

"Although, you speak of peace with a droid at your side that seems more than capable of combat." He knew that intimidation was persuasive but on the basis of peace, it seemed conflicting. "And also armed," he said to himself, inspecting the slits in the arms where he presumed blades ejected up close whilst making a conscious effort to not touch the droid again. Blasters were one thing but blades were more vindictive - personal. He did not know of Zakuul but the whole thing felt wrong. Perhaps this was why the other man had been 'stalking' him, as he put it. Either way, this was no business of Jaered's and it was probably in his best interest to leave. If things went south, all he had to defend himself with was a sack of fruit and a couple of quarkdrivers.

“Look dude,” Valves started, “I haven’t made up my mind yet, though a challenge like that is going to make me ever so more inclined.” Telling someone like Valves that they couldn’t do something just made them all the more determined to do it.

To say Valves was pissed off would be an understatement. First his business on New Cov fell through because the scientist he was looking for was taking by some of more predatory wildlife, now this. He picked Naboo because the idyllic landscape landscape was in stark contrast to the hostile jungles of New Cov. The last thing he expected was for this stranger who was harassing Jedi on New Cov to follow him here. He couldn’t shake the dark feeling he was getting from this guy.

Sure, shooting this guy in public was probably a bad idea, but that smile, egging Valves on.a challenge that Valves couldn’t leave unanswered. His finger twitched. Almost reaching for the blaster on his hip. He didn’t. Not yet. There was a smarter play to this. “Look, I’m tired of you popping up and harassing people while I’ve got stuff to do. So scurry along, and finish your deal here with whatever plasma executive you are supposed to be meeting with, because,” he gesture at Jaered Aldamar Jaered Aldamar “No offence,” he added to the young man, “this doesn’t look like the kind of guy who can secure the plasma you need for your home planet.”

"The boy was in trouble, and I helped him out of it, that is all" He called the young man a boy as to him that was what he was. "Also if you must know I am sorry for that "business" on new Cov...My sources were very outdated, and I can assure you it will NOT happen again." He bowed and gave his attept at a formal apologies

The pair seemed like they had issues with each other and it was something that they should work out between them. The only reason that Jaered had not just gone on his way after the Guards were dealt with was his curiosity getting the best of him. The man was right, he had nothing to do with negotiations on plasma export. His father had worked in the plasma mines but that was his only connection.

"Well, you two evidently have business to attend to," he said nonchalantly before taking a bite out of some fruit. Raising it in a toast, he spoke to the man who had paid for it. "Thanks again." His eyes fell again upon the droid a last time before he turned and wandered off through the crowd. Within minutes, he was lost in the buzz of the market. He could sense the aggravation building and with short-tempered people like that, it was usually a sign to stay out of the way. Instinctively, he checked DD3 was still securely on his back again, munching on the jogun fruit as he wandered in the direction of home
