Description:

In an effort to make a manned fighter that would be able to use advanced swarm tactics in space particularly in attacking Capital class ships.

The concept of the Aurora began with the engines which take up the majority of the ship's size. The next step was to try and increase maneuverability without sacrificing speed. For this the engineers decided on a gyroscopic cockpit design with numerous attitude thrusters which enable extremely fast directional flight alterations. These additions, however, came with a cost.

Due to the major focus on engines and maneuverability the ship had defenses added almost as an after thought. No ray shielding was added and as such a direct hit even from a light starfighter energy weapon will result in imminent destruction of the ship. Particle shields were added to help defend against debris and the flak cannons that have become more common on capital ships. The particle shields will not defend against large objects or even same sized objects as the ship.

The ship is also incapable of entering atmosphere from space independently as the stress would tear the ship apart. No Hyperdrive was added primarily due to space on the hull but also due to a lack of long range navigation.

A second variant was made in which the cockpit was filled with a military grade droid brain. The droid brain requires a direct signal from a droid command center and any interruption between the command center and the fighters result in shutdown of the starfighter's systems. This also includes being a distance of more than one parsec of the command center.

Based on the highest ratings it is over the ratings by at least four, and I understand that while in space it is so supposed to be highly manuverable with speed to go with it. You could, as a suggestion, reduce this to high for both or work with the ratings on production/squadron level to try and bring it down as well if you wanted to maintain the extreme ratings of speed/manuverability.

[member="Gib"], this is perfectly balanced as is, but unfortunately I have to ask for one edit due to ratings:

Speed Rating: Extreme (space)
We typically don't allow "Extreme" ratings for mass-produced items, as it reflects top of the line engineering which should be more rare. I've forgotten about that myself as a submitter in the past. I think we have two options going forward:

1) Lower speed to "very High", and raise a rating somewhere else.
2) Change production to "Minor", and with that, you can also raise a rating somewhere else.
