SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Integrated Aftershock Software
  • Tremendous rate of fire
STRENGTHS
  • Ol' Painless: The Doomspitter carries more suppressive firepower than most entire squads, able to lay down blistering fire rates for extended periods of time.
  • Sun Gun: The MTO's direct-reactor ammunition store grants it a sizeable ammunition capacity.
  • Fleshbane: The Doomspitter fires individual bursts of unnatural plasma-like material. These possess superb damaging and armor-penetrating potential, and can leave lingering radioactive contamination in their targets.
WEAKNESSES
  • Backbreaker: The Doomspitter is remarkably large and heavy, requiring either a very strong arm or a vehicle/stationary mount to be used to best effect.
  • Bullet Hose: The MTO's fire rate produces tremendous recoil, far worse than its counterparts.

DESCRIPTION

As fearsome as it is awkward to utilize, the aptly-named Doomspitter utilizes a centuries-old repeating weapon design with a horrifying twist. In effect, it is a smaller, somewhat more portable version of the Megalith Cannons found on some Dzara starships and heavy vehicles.

The Doomspitter's ammunition store consists of twin active KBR plasma reactors, each placed end to end within the weapon's receiver a bulky cylindrical configuration. Upon firing, the weapon draws miniscule amounts of power from these, and projects a small, sizzling mote of corrupted star-stuff from the barrel.

Being directly reactor-powered grants the Doomspitter a tremendous ammunition store. As the twin, ravening reactions within are (usually) stable and self-sustaining, most life forms will not be able to expend the MTO's ammunition under typical battlefield conditions.

Given the excessively high temperatures of its Otherplasma projectiles, maintaining the weapon's terrifying rate of fire without liquefying the weapon's barrel would typically be impossible. Thus, the Doomspitter utilizes a rotary-barrel configuration alongside heat-resistant Kensium lining.

This weapon fills a bit of a bizarre niche in the Dzara's armories, fulfilling much the same purpose as (and directly competing with) the Clamor.

Nonetheless, the Doomspitter's trademark shriek as it fires is beloved by the troops, and Dzara warriors covet these weapons greatly. It is commonly thought of as having an "action hero" vibe, further increasing its popularity.

Tactically, the Doomspitter gains a significant rate of fire and ammunition capacity increase over the Clamor, though in exchange for an even greater size and weight. It also regrettably loses out on the Clamor's attached missile armament, as this would stretch the weapon's already-serious weight concerns to an intolerable degree. Rare is the humanoid that can carry and use one unaided, and they are thus more commonly utilized by droids or vehicles. Nonetheless, this doesn't stop some personnel from trying, and being able to use a Doomspitter with no brace but one's own hands is a significant mark of prestige.

The Doomspitter fully lives up to its name, able to lay down a terrifying barrage of night-black bolts. At close to mid range, most targets are lucky to simply survive the onslaught, let alone move under it. Indeed, even one of these weapons in the correct place can potentially stifle an entire enemy assault, riddling bodies with fire and sawing light vehicles apart.

As is common with weapons utilizing Otherplasma, the Doomspitter's unstable projectiles tend to inflict serious radioactive contamination upon whatever they come in to contact with, and even relative grazes can pose significant health risks. Still, dying later is seldom one's chief concern when facing this terrifying armament across the field.
