Mourning the Dead and a speech for life. (Republic/Open)

Yusan stood there with shaking hands gripping the cane, a wooden support he used but did not need. His breath came out, warm against the chilled air that fought its way to their bones and bit at his skin and muscles. His hair was a long unkempt thing now, covering a single eye while the other stared out to the camera, crimson red now. Across his chest was a Ysalimiri and near him a force breaker, the latter he would activate if anyone thought he was using the force to push his ideas. Lastly he wore a smile, a kind and determined smile that shone bright as he wore the same robes he always tended to wear.

"People of the Republic, Senators, Jedi, and Soldiers. But also those who put us up, innocents and businessmen and woman that support us and feed up the energy to do what is best for you. What i am about to ask and say is likely going to be branded treasonious again by some, hatred by others, but i hope that you all understand my next words."

"This war started when the old Sith Empire fell, a Genocide of a group and a cultural extermination of the Sith. Fighting to remove those that enslave, and torture for fun... that raze planets and slaughter millions. Those that are evil incarnate and hold their grip around our throat twice now... but this is not the end. We are a strong people, one that stands for freedom, for justice, and stands to save those put into their shackles and put under a boot. We are a proud people, people looking to save and be saved at times, that ruins any chance of creating long relations because of our volatile nature in how we survive. This is no bad thing, but nor is it good."

He breathed in, going a bit longer before bringing up why he was here speaking now.

"Alderaan, Coruscant, Empress Teta, and so many smaller worlds i cannot count, even Togoria with the old Sith Empire. The Sith destroy, kill, control, and trick those under them, they use life like a pawn, they use soldiers like fodder. They kidnap those you love when you are not looking, then torture them and keep them from you, causing you to become erratic, and dangerous yourself... But they are mortal.

I want the Sith dead as much as the next man, more so even, i want them exterminated, destroyed, their people paying for what they have done in the past. I want to see every one of the slaughtered, want to make them watch as it happens, as we free the planet they have taken and show them just how strong our will is to survive. I want to create a place in which ti memorialize the day that the Sith fall, show that we will not bow to anyone or anything... But right now we do not have that ability.

We are a demoralized people, there are whispers of planets leaving and joining the Sith to avoid their people's dying, there is distrust in the Jedi's abilities to deny their darkside... I do know though it is hard to deny what the sith offer them though, the darkside is tempting, but it is not something to be taken lightly. I know fully. Our resources are also stretched thin, and people who have been chased from their positions soon find that things are better for them elsewhere. People are scared for their home, life, family, and friends. They are scared they will be subject to the next attack from the Sith. Which is why i ask the Senate, Chancellor [member="Popo"], and the Jedi Order led by [member="Kiskla Grayson"] to hear me out. This war must end, and i ask all of you this, ask the Sith for peace once more, and let me talk to them over peace. Let me get peace for the republic, let the lives of millions be preserved, and do not do this to the people we vowed to protect. Name me traitor if you wish, or sympathizer, but i am asking you this to defend the people we represent, to do what is in the best for them, i will be hated for wanting peace after Coruscant and Alderaan, but this is how we will survive and rebuild, we have lost homes and family, let us not lose more..."

(Edit for Kiskla: Not sure what you mean about if you don't know its Yusan or not, and ya, hes been in the Senate as Senator for Eshan, Katarr and now Mayferria, as well as Vice Chancellor. I supported the Jedi last time peace was offered, knowing the need for them.)

Kiskla was unable to make the meeting in person -- instead she was on-board Crimson III-- A Jedi-training class ship with her active Padawan, [member="Johnny Diamonds"].

She was leaning back in a spectators chair, watching the broadcast to her direct feed. Ears twitching slightly at the mention of her name. Her legs were crossed at the knee, dangling foot tapping against the air in rhythm with [member="Memorial"]'s words

"Pull up what you can about this guy." Kiskla muttered. Had he been in the senate before?* For the most part, she'd granted Johnny a high level of access to most files she was privy to. Not all, but most she'd had as the councillor of reconciliation. The others demanded more than codes and whatnot--those were withheld. "I want to know where he was when Apparine demanded the Jedi roll over for The Sith."

Not sure if we know it's Yusann or not. There was a time when this was disclosed info.

Maximus stood listening to the man talk. This same man who had used Republic personnel Republic Army Personnel at that now stood begging, in fact pleading for peace with the enemy. Maximus stood in full Armor as he always did his helmet on for the time being. The words stung him deeper than the scar on his face. Maximus was not pleased not pleased at all with what he was hearing.

Maximus gave a feth about the Sith, the Jedi or the whole lot of them. All Maximus cared about was the men and women who had stood beside him of the field of battle when there enemies came knocking on the door. The men and women he had lost, they were all he cared about, and the fact that this man would beg for peace, would beg that he embrace the same people that had killed his friends made Maximus want to vomit uncontrollably with disgust. Only his military bearing kept him from lashing out.

Instead he simply stood there like stone emotionless and unmoved................. as far as anyone could tell. After all Armor had it's advantages.

Johnny was sitting on the floor near Kiskla as she watched the broadcast. He was garbed in an odd mix of a Padawan's robe over less traditional fare; brown cargo pants, and a white t-shirt with a picture of Obi-Wan Kenobi's face on it. The text read "Obi-Wan Don't Ride." The look was completed with white sneakers with blue accents. He had been watching the broadcast as well, watching on his datapad. "Wow. This dude just does not get how Sith are wired, does he?"

Then she said the magic words; Find out what you can about this guy. "On it, Master Grayson. Ain't no one makes the H-Net sing like ol' Johnny D."

Tapping through his datapad, Johnny seemed to go into a near-meditative trance, possessed by the code, transfixed on the glasteel screen, fingers dancing across it like ballet. Soon enough, he had some information for her. "Ok, so, check this out, Bosslady. Dude's name is Yusan. He's currently the Senator of Mayferria, formerly the Senator of Eshan and of Katarr, and served as Vice Chancellor for a bit. He has ties to Emperor Krag of the old Sith Empire, and like, apparently, has been linked to Kaine Zambrano. But that's just sorta rumor, the last part. Dude's got ties to the Republic hard, though."

"Fenn." Kiskla repeated thoughtfully, tapping the bottom of her lip as she considered the details [member="Johnny Diamonds"] spewed.

"He played Jedi for a while-- He was there when the senate building fell on Coruscant." Details from her own recollection were coming to the fore now. She paused, folding her hands together while waiting for other politicians to weigh in on the broadcast. It was not her lot. "Apparine trained him." Could be leverage.

That said, she pulled her eyes from the politician to the slicer; "What sort of ties with Zambrano and The Graug?"

Balaya listened as she sat there, the enjoyment on her face while the light tapping of the new voices fingers on the throne being built on Alderaan came. "How interesting." She just had a smile going from ear to ear making sure the message went to the others. Most importantly she ensured it went to @Carliah Drakone her newest apprentice and this ones wife who was busy serving the will of the dark lord. She was a lovely enforcer without those old pesky problems. The others needed to see this as [member="Darth Isolda"] and [member="Darth Mierin"] were informed. The other hands and voices she was certain could find and hear this. "Oh I can see why she liked him, adorable I could just feed him to Fluffy.

"Well, when it comes to Zambrano, info's sketchy at best. Seems the scuttlebutt is that Zambrano's got his ladyfriend holed up on Panatha, but Panatha is Fringe space, so I don't think that's likely. To location at least. As far as Krag goes, he was accused of treason due to trying to screw with Krag to find out where his ladyfriend and kids were. Still, it's all real sketchy stuff. This dude's docs read like stereo instructions. Plus, that's apparently not the only time he's been accused of treason. He left the Republic for a bit to help the Protectorate apparently, against the Sith. I dunno, bosslady, something tells me this dude is like, full of poodoo."

Johnny looked up from his datapad, watching Kiskla intently, sipping on his thermo-mug full of piping hot stimcaf. Mmmm, good stuff, stimcaf, yessir.

Aurelia Saelari found herself wondering if there was something in the air in the Senate chamber which made betrayal more common.

She stood, and she was full of wrath.

“Your ‘inspirational’ words are noted, Mr Fenn. It’s good to see that Treason Season has started early this year. Was it not you who just two weeks ago came here and accused all the Senate of being cowards for not grabbing a blaster and charging the Sith there and then? Was it not you who demanded we fight the Sith to the last bolt and bullet? And now, such a complete flip-flop. What is it, Mr Fenn, do you support war or not? I must confess I cannot tell with you anymore.”

“You claim to be wanting to fight the Sith, but I don’t think this body has seen much evidence of it. First you were part of the previous attempts at peace, then you were all for war but did nothing useful, and now you want us to go begging for mercy to the Sith. I think not.”

“You rattle off the crimes of the Sith, their murder, tyranny and genocide, and yet you still want us to still make peace with them? You think that the ‘Dark Lord’ will stop now if he hears that you so cravenly wish to submit? No, he will press his dominion. The Sith are animals who will attack until either us or they are dead. There is no peace with monsters, Mr Fenn, and anyone who thinks otherwise is deluded.”

“But I am sure you would love to be the one who negotiates with the Sith. Oh yes, Yusan Fenn the bridge-builder, Yusan Fenn the hero. To that I say no! There will be no peace with murderers and tyrants. There will be no peace with cowardly Sith. We have lost some battles, but to give up now would be to allow the Sith to continue to gather their strength and would abandon those in the occupied worlds to their fate. If you wish to go join the Sith, do so, but the Senate and the Republic stands against you if you do, as we do against the Sith as their most implacable enemy!”

"Was it not you, Mr. Fenn who marched clearly out of the Senate Chambers when we passed a specific piece of the Defense of Freedom Act?" Alyesa spoke up shortly behind Aurelia. "Specifically, the one aimed at traitors and conspirators who are aligned with the Sith?" She didn't bother to wait for a reply before she continued. "It doesn't matter, the record reflects as such, and given that...my answer is clear - No, to any negotiations or treaties." She shrugged lightly. "The Republic will not negotiate with the One Sith, they wish for us to abandon the Jedi Order along with our ideals and values." Her head shook softly in disagreement with that particular sentiment. "I'm sorry but that is something that I don't forsee happening anytime soon."

Selab

While the rest of the galaxy was watching the holovideo of the speech, the Ducha of Selab and Charubah was doing other far more important matters.

"Mm... to the left. Lower," came the throaty guide from Persephone's lips. "...mmm right there." a soft sigh of exquisite pleasure would flow in growing satisfaction as the masseuse would trail the sides of her bare spine and find the knots at the low of her back.

All work and no play makes Persephone a rather dry harpy. Sometimes, a girl needed to pamper herself and ignore the galaxy for an hour or two.

He, had no words, were people this vindictive, the dark sider among them and he was the one that cared about preserving the very thing they used as a weapon. He had no words for this, he had no words for when the Jedi became like Sith and his face fell immediately, sadness and pity for those that want war so greatly that they would throw away the lives of their people for revenge. He shut his datapad down and breathed in. "Very well, then throw away the lives of all those that look to you for guidance my fellow Senators, i will be the one to mourn them while you call for revenge and bleed us dry." He straightened up and left his pod, he had work to do to preserve the Republic, and he would not let these Senators stop him.

Vaudin Miir

Planetary President of Iktotch
Vaudin sat with his hands folded over his abdomen and feet up on the edge of his booth's table. His grey eyes closed and dark glasses on to hide the fact he was taking a nap.

"Zzzzzzzzz." He snored softly, "zzzzzZZZZZzzzz. Bantha crap I smell banth... Zzzzzzzz"

He must have been having a dream.

Popo

I'm Sexy and I Know It
Popo looked up at the holoprojector and grinned. Seems like some of the more sketchy senators kept digging holes for themselves. No matter, they'd figure it out eventually.

The massive Hutt turned back to his paperwork. He had things to do and people to see.

She listened to [member="Memorial"] speech, from a holo screen inside her prison cell. She had at least two ysalimri to keep her company, just out of reach from her. She hated hoth, it was cold and the company was not much better, well unless [member="Noah Corek"] came to visit. Though it was too cold here for any shenanigans, like got up to in her last cell. She remember his face from their too, he wants peace with us. She could not believe a word he said, he was up to something. How could he say he wanted peace with the sith, yet beat her senseless. When she had no way to defend herself from his attacks, he cracked her ribs bloodied her nose and bust her lip. If he thinks he can get peace after that, he has another thing coming. She thought to herself, she now knew who he was. Soon or late her family will come for her, and when they do. She will come for him, and she will end him for that. She hated feeling helpless at his hands, and she would show him how that debt could be repaid in full.

Sith Faith had no reason to like the Sith or have anything to do with them that even remotely resembled peace. Pieces maybe, but not peace. She growled under her breath, and listened.

Foolish man, what did he hope to accomplish?

Maximus snorted as the man left. Under the surface behind the safety of his helmet Maximus was steaming. How dare this man speak of the dead with the same breath he betrayed their memory. What did he know about mourning the dead? Any man who had held his friends, his brothers, in his arms as they lay dying knew the only way you honored their sacrifice was to keep living. With their last breath the dying did not speak of revenge they spoke of family, of camaraderie, of the honor it was to have stood by there brothers on the field of battle defending what mattered to them most. Not revenge, children sought revenge, soldiers cared about and fought for each other.

Maximus stood motionless, like a solemn sentry as Yusan left, as others left, mostly like being the last to leave. It would seem the Senate had become a battle field of ideology and like the battle fields of war Maximus would be the last to step off of it.
