Mournfist
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: A close-quarters capital ship weapon array designed for brutal hull impact, used by Breachcore-pattern Commonwealth warships. The Mournfist system is intended to act as the companion to the Gravehand system, focusing on physical bludgeoning through tensor-assisted hammerarms.

- Recoil: None (Inertial Sink Stabilizers negate impact rebound)
- Tensor-Reinforced Hammerarms – Mechanically delivered impacts amplified with localized tensor field bursts for mass-multiplied destruction.
- Variant Heads – Customizable attachments:
- Slagfists – Flat-faced crush plates
- Spikehammers – Armor-penetrating impacts
- Grinderheads – Rotating rams for twisting internal support frames
- Grav-Anchor Claws – Pre-impact stabilizers latch onto the target hull to ensure full-force delivery.
- Inertial Sink Stabilizers – Absorbs shipboard shock to prevent structural feedback damage during hammerfall.
- Grav-Lock Sync Net – Coordinates with systems like Gravehand to ensure hammerarms strike only once the target is held.
- “Punishment Cycle” Subroutine – AI-controlled strike rhythm cycles hammerarms for maximum pressure and internal system collapse.
- Repulsor-Guided Hammerarms: Precision directional control mid-swing, allowing for trajectory adjustment and shockwave control.
- Recoil Suppression Array: Repulsors negate kinetic backlash from impacts, enabling faster repeat strikes with reduced mechanical stress.
- Shockwave Drive: Microburst repulsor activation on impact delivers internal concussive force beyond initial damage.
- Counterforce Steering: Hammerarms can torque against enemy ship movements, maximizing damage when targets attempt to resist or escape.
- Devastating Hull Damage: Designed to breach capital armor plating, internal decks, and structural supports in a single hammerfall.
- Anti-Escape Mechanics: Gravitic anchor claws work in tandem with repulsor steering to punish evasive actions—moving increases incoming damage.
- Modular Strike Heads: Multiple hammerhead types allow ship crews to select the perfect trauma type for their target.
- Trajectory-Correcting Devastation: Repulsors enable hammerarms to correct course mid-swing, delivering precision hits to critical subsystems or vulnerabilities.
- Close Range Only: Cannot operate unless within personal/knife-fight distance—requires enemy to be grappled or stationary.
- Very Slow Cycle Rate: Strike reset time is significant; Mournfist is meant for execution, not rapid engagement.
- Massive Power Draw: Tensor-enhanced impacts pull heavy energy; may cause strain if multiple arms fire in quick succession.
- Shield Reliance: If target shields remain intact, impacts will be deflected or blunted entirely—works best post-Stormhalo or Gravehand engagement.
Mournfist is the weapon that comes after the grapple. It is not meant to kill from afar or suppress a target. It is designed for when ships collide, when engines are silent, and when one vessel intends to make the other hurt. Developed for Breachcore-pattern vessels of the Commonwealth, the Mournfist Gravitic Impact Array is a kinetic melee system that turns capital ships into siege engines.
Each Mournfist system consists of 2 to 6 articulated hammerarms, each powered by servo-hydraulics and reinforced with phrik-based construction. Once locked into position, the arms drive forward in catastrophic arcs—powered by tensor bursts that multiply impact force beyond mechanical limits. Impact heads can be changed depending on mission: blunt crush plates for surface damage, spike heads for armor rupture, or rotating grinders for internal torsion-based collapse.
Often deployed in conjunction with Gravehand systems, Mournfist strikes only when a target is held immobile. The ship’s AI calculates the rhythm of destruction in what operators grimly refer to as the Punishment Cycle. Once it begins, decks buckle. Hulls split. And systems scream.
There is no elegance. Only impact.
