Public Mountains don't Float (Open to Sith and Jedi)

There were a few things Lord Superious had to tie up before he did anything else. He had finished a month-long mission into the Outer Rim to Agamar, it was to check something that was just beginning to tip the force off-axis. So that was quite an endeavour, trying to look for it through the force and physically. Logically mountains don't float, they never have, never will.

Until now. Superious had to scratch his head in genuine confusion, something is very odd is going on here. He can't see what it is, only senses it.

There was a huge deposit of Kyber Crystals in it, so it was a possibility they can generate a nexus of floating energy that can move mountains. He'll need to keep a record of what they saw, so he stalked down the halls pad in hand. His Apprentice Thierry is hot on his heels. The question is, how will this discovery benefit the Sith? If so, what could it be used for?

That will be known later, because if he found it, the Jedi certainly did, and they had to keep them off the island. Which meant on the job training for Thierry. Who handled himself well, there is still room for improvement. That will be addressed soon enough, but this whole anomaly is as frustrating as it is vexing. He'll need to keep going back, both out of curiosity and to keep Jedi away.

Jedi are no easy things to put down, sure he could but they are like a Hydra, take one down, seven more appear. But they pushed them back. But there is no point dwelling on that nor was it doing his head any good thinking about the maths of it either.

<"It's not making sense, it should but it doesn't."> He grumbled irritably.

Darth Kustos prided himself on being a particular kind of Sith. He did not participate in politics and power struggles, simply following whoever had claimed the title of Sith ruler. He did not bore himself with the inner workings of bureaucracy or economics, he was a warrior. Nor did he dabble in philosophy and certainly not into any sort of science.

So, as he glimpsed the floating landmass from his shuttle, he barely spent a moment to ponder it. He was here to support and protect operations to extract the Kyber Crystals, nothing more. And whether there be a flying mountain or no flying mountain at all, he intended to do that job.

Establishing a foothold to begin the extracting would be key, and speed was fairly important. This far into the galaxy, he had little doubt that the Jedi or their allies would eventually come close enough to notice something wrong with the planet. The mountain in particular being a dead giveaway, even if Sith weren't enough.

Luckily for him, and the Sith in general, they apparently already had someone on the scene and working. If we can keep those pesky Jedi away, then this may turn out to be a short errand after all. With that thought in mind he was quick to exit the shuttle after it had landed, setting foot onto the island and glancing around for any signs of danger.

None so far, that he could see anyway.

"Now, time to find that other Sith."

The Floating Mountain remained afloat, and many small thumb-sized droids coated the exposed Crystal underside, taking data readings. The problem now is extracting and keeping the crystals intact and avoiding a thousand tonne Mountain from dropping like a well … rock. They need an idea to avoid any accidents.

Large Crystals are heavy, it's going to take a pretty long while to complete the extraction, and then there are the Jedi. For now, they were absent, there is only a matter of time before they arrive in force. The Sith will be at an advantage if they can keep it in their control.

Superious had returned to the island, he needed to at least keep an eye on what is going on. So far nothing changed, except that the Floating Mountain had started to rotate much like a spinning top, a slow twirl. He needed a second opinion, someone who can look at it from a different angle. Because he wasn't getting very far with his observations.

Superious was not hard to miss as he wasn't concerned with concealment, he wanted others to know that he was there. As a beacon to other Sith and as a deterrent to curious Jedi.

The mountain was certainly a sight to behold. He idly rested his mechanical hand on the hilt of the weapon attached to his hip as he looked over the large crystals beneath the floating landmass. It reminded him of something grand that would be housed in a museum. Or, a Sith Lord's palace. With a small shake of his head he continued on.

Of course he could see the obvious problem, the crystals that they needed seemed to be holding the mountain suspended. He supposed it wouldn't be impossible to keep the mountain up another way, more than likely through the use of thrusters, but such means and materials weren't exactly available to them at the moment.

Unless they could bring in a Star Destroyer or two to keep the mountain held up.

The thought almost brought a smile to the Sith's face. Almost. Good for him that he wasn't having to come up with a solution all on his own. He caught sight of movement and idly wrapped his fingers around his lightsaber as a reflex, but a quick look and it was no Jedi nor wild beast to slay. Quickly, the masked Nikto made his way over to the other occupant of the island.

His steps were obvious, him not wanting to sneak up on an ally for no reason. "Ah, you must be Darth Superious. I am here to help you with this..." He gestured to the now slowly spinning mountain. "...project. I am Darth Kustos."

They have still made no headway on what they should be looking for here, stupidly enough the closer they got to something close to an accurate picture, everything goes off-model again, the sensations of the thing is changing all the time. This is going to be a huge undertaking, one Superious cannot do alone, he’ll need help.

Thierry can only do so much, he wanted to get in close enough to feel exactly what is going on, but Superious disallowed it, with that much energy, who knows what would happen to an organic up there. Superious is many things, but he isn’t that mean spirited. So for now, they had to use Droids. Frustration is building, it’s tearing everything he knew about crystals out of the book by the page.

As if by a blessing from the force, he was going to get that help, a pair of fresh eyes. He was getting a stress headache, which he can't remove at present. He shooed Thierry towards a terminal and only then did Superious face the newest arrival. A fellow Sith, which is a relief.

<"Ah yes, lucky you arrived, maybe you can shed a new perspective on this."> He states handing over a Datapad with the info they have so far on it. Including the broken logical models.

The warrior paused, hesitating just a moment before taking the datapad and looking it over. As he thought, he only understood some of it. The vast majority was unfamiliar to him and looked as if it had failed anyway. What he did understand was that the crystals could be dangerous for organics, hence the droids. Exactly what made them dangerous he could only partially figure out but he got the message nonetheless.

Well, most of the message that was relevant anyway.

Overall the data was inconclusive, leaving the questions of exactly how to extract the crystals safely. "If you wanted a scientific mind to help I'm afraid we'll have to make another call to find someone else, I'm more into the warfare side of things myself."

He idly looked over the datapad again, searching for something that he could offer any sort of advice on. "So walk me through the main hurdles then, I see that acquiring the crystals is difficult for...well a number of reasons. Anything else that's limiting us though?" Of course time and materials weren't on their side, but it never hurt to get a good grasp on the full situation.
