SETTING INFORMATION

• Structure Name: Mount Pele
• Classification: Volcano | Forge
• Location: Zaathru

• Accessibility: The volcano can be reached only on foot, and it is quite a hike. Getting inside it is even more difficult due to the danger posed by the lava and the steep, rocky terrain. The Forge inside the volcano is protected via a force field which does not repel people from entering.
• Description: Mount Pele is an active volcano located near the Grotto. Inside the volcano is the Temple Forge, an ancient structure full of complex machinery. The Forge can be used to create a variety of items out of metal and other materials, but it will demand a sacrifice for each item made, with more complex results exacting a greater price.

POINTS OF INTEREST

Mount Pele - An active volcano feared and revered by the locals. It erupts every two or three years on average, though there have been intervals of inactivity which lasted for much longer than the average.

Temple Forge: Located inside the volcano, this ancient structure is protected from damage by a force field, which also controls the internal temperature. It is believed that the machinery uses the intense heat of the volcano as a power source, although the machinery also appears to "feed" on the blood of living beings.

• Heart Chamber - The area of the Forge in which sacrifices are made. A large basin catches the blood and pumps it into the rest of the system via a vast network of pipes and tubing which resemble veins.
• The Anvil (aka "The Hand Chamber") - This section is where items are made by the Forge. Its primary feature is a large metal anvil.
• The Brain Chamber - This is where the central intelligence which operates the machinery is housed. The intelligence has no name; its preferred method of communication is to form a telepathic link with Force Users. It will not respond to other methods of communication.
• Throne Room - An area of the Forge which seems to have been used as an audience chamber. Arcturus has used it to conduct rituals.

SECURITY
Low - Mount Pele's greatest defense is how difficult it is to reach and the dangers posed by the volcano. The Forge protects itself from lava damage, but there is little preventing individuals from entering the structure.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Associated with the God of the Underworld, Mount Pele features in many myths, legends, and prophecies. Adherents of the Shaalite faith believe the Forge will be used to usher in a new golden age of technological advancement. It has simply been waiting for the God's return.

The actual nature of this bizarre machine is unknown. Like the other ruins scattered across Zaathru, it is believed to have been constructed in ancient times by the same mysterious civilization. Since that civilization's collapse, the Forge has lain dormant, with the locals lacking the means to reach the structure inside the active volcano.

Rhiannon Dinn led her husband Arcturus to the Forge, intending to fulfill the prophecy and solidify Arc's claim to godhood. It was there that they first established contact with the Forge's consciousness. In exchange for creating a knife, it demanded a sacrifice, even providing specific parameters of the type of individual it wanted. Once a suitable offering was procured, brought to the Heart Chamber, and killed, the machinery began to function for the first time in Force knows how many centuries. Ever since then, it has been in constant motion, devouring souls and churning out weapons, armor, tools, and trinkets which seem to be imbued with a unique power...
