- I'm Blind!: Heavy Ion Cannon Blind Spot. The two side cannons have 110 degree firing arc to the side but only a 45 degree maximum up angle. Pair this with the front Ion Cannons 270 by 90 degree firing solution angles, it needs its target to be practically directly in front of them to have all 3 Cannons hit the same target.
While massing a decently sized fleet for the Zann Consortium, Scarlett got away from their main purpose and money maker, pirating. Their fleet was too heavy into destroying their targets that they were losing hundreds of thousands of potential credits. To balance out the fleet, she had some of her defilers infiltrate the schematic achieves on Mon Calamari, and steal the plans for this classic yet underrated design. The Frigate was originally designed with multiple turbo laser batteries but they were scrubbed and replaced with Heavy Ion Cannon and Torpedo Tubes. Now, instead of destroying everything in their path, they were designed to capture and seize ships for prize.
The Heavy Ion Armament is extensively forward facing, meaning, for it to bring down all of its Ion Fury on a target, it had to directly face said target. It is also designed to be a support ship as it does not have a hanger, nor enforcers aboard to board and seize enemy craft. Also, it needs the protection of larger ships near by. It would be a rarity to find one of these not in a fleet setting.
(OOC Found this randomly on Pinterest and has to be hands down my favorite mon calamari design. The creator made a 3D rendering that you are able to zoom in and out of and see it from every angle. He even shows movie footage from the 5th film, of a rebel fleet with this design in the background. Unfortunately it is not linked in Wookiepedia.)
