ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Firepower: Though it may not be as heavily armed as other comparably sized vessels, the Mon Calamari Destroyer still possesses a respectable amount of firepower for a ship of its size
  • Armored: The Mon Calamari Destroyer is especially well armored and shielded for a ship of its size, possessing a total of four different deflector shield systems
  • Guardian: Using its KL-44 Commander Shield Projectors, the Mon Calamari Destroyer can temporarily provide supplemental deflector shielding to allied ships
  • Defender: When completely still, the Mon Calamari Destroyer can vastly increase the strength of its deflector shields with its LV-F Deflector Shields
  • Surprise: All Mon Calamari Destroyers are equipped with numerous hull mounted "Cluster Bombs", making them dangerous targets for starfighters
WEAKNESSES
  • Underarmed: Though it possesses a respectable amount of fire, the Mon Calamari Destroyer is relatively underarmed when compared to similarly sized ships
  • Slow: All Mon Calamari Destroyers are relatively slow moving and unmaneuverable, even when activating their supplement SLAM and Proprietary Internal Maneuverability Systems
  • Guardian: When using its KL-44 Shield Projectors to protect other ships, the Mon Calamari Destroyer does so at the expense of its own shielding
  • Defender: The Mon Calamari Destroyer's LV-F Deflector Shields can only be activated when the ship is completely still, and the moment the ship moves, the shields become deactivated
  • Energy management: Though the Mon Calamari Destroyer is capable of producing large amounts of energy, it can go through its energy reserves alarmingly quickly
DESCRIPTION

Between Mahporeenian salvaging operations in the Core Worlds and repeated skirmishes with the Wild Space Rebellion, the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant has come into possession of a fairly large number of MC80 Liberty Type Heavy Cruisers, all in various stages of disrepair and operational status. Rather than scrap or discard these vessels, the Imperial Remnant has decided to use them to supplement the strength of their naval forces, fusing them with Imperial I-class Star Destroyers and Imperial II-class Star Destroyers to create the so called "Mon Calamari Destroyer".

Though it is at best an unholy fusion of Rebel and Imperial technology, the Mon Calamari Destroyer nonetheless remains a powerful and effective combat asset. Much like the MC80 Liberty Type Heavy Cruiser it is based on, the Mon Calamari Destroyer is quite heavily armored and well shielded, making it rather difficult to destroy in combat. Though it cannot match the raw firepower of similarly sized ships, the Mon Calamari Destroyer can still produce a respectable amount of firepower thanks to its Long Range Turbolasers, SW-7 Heavy Ion Cannon Batteries and Variable-Ordinance Warhead Launchers.

Of course, the Mon Calamari Destroyer, like many Mahporeenian based designs, excels most as a support vessel, especially due to its ability to act as a "guardian ship" for allied naval assets. Using its KL-44 Commander Shield Projectors, the Mon Calamari Destroyer can project supplemental deflector shields onto nearby ships, at the cost of its own shielding. The Mon Calamari Destroyer can also vastly improve the strength of its own shields with its LV-F Deflector Shields, though only if it is completely still.

To power all of these offensive and defensive systems, the Mon Calamari Destroyer comes equipped with both a OA "Yellow Dwarf" Sun Reactor and anI-a2b Solar Ionization Reactor, though power management and consumption remains a significant problem for the Mon Calamari Destroyer. Ship Captains must choose which of their ship's systems to activate wisely, as too much use of them can cause serious problems for the Mon Calamari Destroyer.
