SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Magic Foci: The creation of a Mistwalker crystal bonds the witch to the spirit of the crystal, allowing it (and the instrument housing it) to serve as a focus aid for spellcasting.
WEAKNESSES
  • Natural Gemstone Only: Due to the connection between the spirits and the spirit ichor, these crystals can only be forged from natural gemstone. The process will not work with synthetic crystals. Due to their creation through Yuuzhan Vong horticulture, lambent crystals are also unable to be used for this process.
  • Force Connection Required. The enchantment on this crystal only functions in areas where a connection with the Force is possible. Otherwise, its just a regular kyber.
DESCRIPTION
The kyber crystals used by members of the Mistwalker Clan were created by a shamanistic ritual derived from a similar practice recorded from their parent Clan on Dathomir. Though recorded in the Talay Grimoire, the ritual fell out of use during the Mistwalker's time on the planet Talay owing to the lack of natural kyber deposits. Some witches have demonstrated the ability to create such magical kybers from the crystalline "pearl" shards from Talay Krayt Dragons, but doing so requires a great deal of animal ken or a pact with the spirit of the krayt dragon. Adegan crystals were also able to be infused with the spirit ichor in this way.

In modern shamanistic practice, the ritual was revived following the Mistwalker Clan's migration to the moon of Alaris, within the Silver Jedi Concord. The exposure and close diplomatic ties to Kashyyyk added kyber crystals once more to the magical implements that the practitioners of the Mistwalker Clan had access to, and curiosity over the use of Jedi lightsabers made the possession of such a crystal en vogue among the younger members of the Clan.

Owing to other Clans of the Witches of Dathomir, these crystals fell into use beyond Alaris and the Mistwalker Clan, being found on Kattada among the Blue Coral Divers -- another Clan of the Witches of Dathomir known for diplomatic ties to the Concord and the Silver Jedi.

When used as a lightsaber crystal, the blade produced is a bright cyan-green color, shrouded in a mist as though composed of spirit ichor.
