Felix Aquila
Hearing her name handled with precise pronunciation was mildly surprising, but she was grateful that he could handle it. That would make this whole arrangement easier with one less irritation to account for, but far more surprising was the promise of knowing to control the light as he did, someday. That she would have to work hard was no surprise at all.
"Everything I know" she paused,
"nearly everything I learned from my brother," she frowned delicately but pressed on,
"until he was taken."
She might not be standing here, so far from the lands of her birth if not for that fact. If not for
Freya Drage and her friendship and care.
"In the years before my first change, I was taught to turn myself into another common creature of the forests of Islimore - the fox." One of a few ways they had concealed themselves,
"the totem is in my room; I haven't needed to use it here, with no need to hide." And as far as she had been able to gather Naboo had no foxes.
"He also taught me to run, and some of how to maintain our hidden places," how did she describe that? She didn't know the common words,
"Such as making the forest grow in such a way that it was thick and dark, and learning to see the permanent illusions that also kept us safe. I only know how maintaining the illusion works, and how to see it, not how to create the illusions… and with my brother gone, so too were the illusions."
If not for her care in remaining concealed for the months until Freya found her, her days might have been numbered until she was taken, too.
"I was only allowed to enter Freann in specific circumstances, and I was taught to do this too," you could not stay in the realm of the spirits for too, too long lest your soul became a permanent resident,
"but the very first thing Åsmund taught me was to feel the world around me and those within it."
She would have been given more, but,
"These things were all he could manage to show me in twelve years, because other things have more importance," Alfie put on a light frown, her brow creasing faintly; she hadn't talked about the full extent of her identity, hadn't imparted such facts even to the few friends she had begun to make,
"I am the last female of my Clan, Felix. and I am Draoidae - a spiritual leader of my people. It was these things that were more important."
She knew far far more about rites, ceremonies, and traditions, and the administering thereof, than she did of what most of the galaxy called 'The Force'.
"Oh, I also learned to hunt with a bow, but my bow was left behind."
Learning to hunt as a wolf had somewhat replaced it, but only because she had no other option. A bow was quieter, and conserved energy that would otherwise have been spent in the chase... as exhilarating that was. Now it was his turn to speak of himself and what he knows and Alfie became the listener. As she listened, she found they were a little similar in some ways. His goal was admirable, and not unlike her own.
She knew about the lightsaber - she had seen enough of them around, dangling off of belts, brandished in other people's spars in her time here, but terms like 'Djem So' and "Makashi" drew a blank. So did 'Darths'. Then the question came, and she had a hard time finding an answer because she didn't know what was
possible but... he had been speaking of fighting, and that had been Åsmund's promise to her, to teach her to fight once she had gone through her first change.
"I would like to begin with learning how to fight," she decided,
"but what are 'Djem So', 'Makashi', and 'Darths'?"
