It was so different on the other side.

The months since her first change took over her body felt like a whole new world, another existence, another life in its entirety; scents, sights, sounds were clearer, sharper, and full of details that were previously vague. Her appetite surged... but the shift, now monthly as it was yet beyond her control, was still difficult and rife with pain. She knew it would take time for this to improve, but she was glad, at least, that the other ache of her existence, the reality of her femininity, didn't occur in parallel to that which rearranged her body on an equal schedule. Or hadn't yet. Small mercies.

It was the first of these pains that left the flame-haired teen sleeping in well after sunrise in the grasses of the Nabooian forests that hosted the emergence of her beast, the auburn-furred wolf that hid beneath her skin. Skin warmed by a beam of sunlight filtering in through a gap in the canopy of leaves and branches, highlighting her petite, dozing form: a twist of limbs in loose clothing, haphazardly slipped into after the two-moon night, the fabrics wound about her in a way that could only be uncomfortable in the waking hours, midriff bared, untamed hair stuck to a peaceful face by long-dried tears.

Nothing at all to construe as even remotely graceful, and not a snore to be heard. The occasional twitch of a hand or foot, or faint knit of brow denoted a dream. What a young Lupo dreamed of was anyone's guess...

"Excellent, what was their name again?" Felix would ask, the elderly master would repeat herself, adding that the girl had been somewhat of a free spirit since they had become aware of her through Gerwald. Felix would nod, transferring a file on a datapad including what was known about her so far. Simple files, a name, basic physical characteristics and details that the newly named Medjai would know... The Rylothian had never been too sure about the name change since meeting the entity within the force, but he could still feel that strange light he had absorbed swimming through his system, though he hadn't figured a method on how to control it... it was still... there.

"She's probably in and around the woods, might be a difficult one to find."

Felix, thanking the woman would ensure that the aged master wouldn't worry, making his way out of the room in a rush, foot after foot, striding towards the ship that was waiting for him on the Medjai dock. It wasn't just the name of the organization that had been changed, it seemed that the Medjai order was undergoing massive rebranding... it was a mistake in his mind, but, what could he do? He was just a master. Felix barely considered himself to be a master, despite passing the trial that had put him here.

Within moments he was in the air, piercing the heaven on laughter silvered wings as he would soar for the forests outside of the capital city. Dense structures filled with a lingering wildness. It seemed that even though the planet had been all but been domesticated the forests of Naboo were still something to be treated with respect, with a healthy sense of fear. So Felix would from the skies expand his senses, opening up his feeling as he would look from the skies, eyes that dwarved the seeing potential of any hawk or avian stretching to beyond the horizon able to freeze and remember images he saw at a moments notice.

The search wouldn't take long, as strings of sunlight in slivers that would most certainly destroy the eyes of any normal creature would simply be absorbed with his tutaminis. His eyes would be composite, like those of a fly as he saw a thousand different images at once, each and every one of them a panorama of the landscape below until he would see a solitary red haired girl a few miles away. It matched the description for sure, he was simply glad that he could begin slowly relieving his focus and bringing his eyes back to a form of reality.

Parking nearby, Felix would make his way to the open clearing on foot. The sound of bark under his heels crunching as he weaved through the undergrowth, trees towering overhead while he breached the circle of the glade. Peering through to see a solitary bream of sunshine flooding the woodland heath with brightness and warmth as though it were something from a fairytale.

"I'd expect a scene like this on Endor or Kashyyk... Naboo was a surprise." He would say, half to himself as he entered the clearing, raising a hand and allowing the brightness of the sun to increase a little, focusing the waves into thicker formations shining down upon her as if the sun was directly above her, hoping to wake her more softly. Should she rouse he'd bid her a good morning, otherwise he'd slowly make the daylight brighter until she did.

Today, was going to be an interesting day.

Fortunately for the young Lupo, her dreams through the night and into the morning were an interpretation of happy memories, as happy as they could have been from a life spent in hiding, but the one with her in the dreamscape was not with her now... a fact that, when the sunlight brightened and urged her eyelids to slip open just a crack, gave her waking thoughts a sombre tinge.

"Åsmund..."

And where her helplessness to affect change in this part of her reality would anger her at first, the many months since being whisked away from Islimore had turned that anger into purpose, day by day. Light-years away from the lands of her people, she just knew his soul had not entered Freann, knew that the last shred of her family still lived. As her eyes opened further and she began to push herself to sit upright, the scent of another being, an unfamiliar one, wafted into her nose, drawing her eyes to a set of legs, at which point she sat up much faster while her widening gaze climbed to find a face.

"Ah, Aerðs!" she exclaimed, only for her surprise to be cut into by a prodigious yawn, her mind making the switch to a comprehensible tongue while the yawn overtook her face, "you..." another shorter yawn interrupted this, while she picked hair off of her cheek, thereafter rubbing her eyes and peering at her unknown visitor, "...you're not human," she sniffed, more intently this time, just to be certain, "thank the Gods."

Though what she was smelling was a mystery, that matter took a backseat to the more present issue, "but I usually wake up alone," and there was nothing wrong with, or untoward about this fact, but it did make her blue eyes narrow, "so what you are isn't important. People don't walk this part of the wood..." she was beginning to gather herself to stand, tugging at the loose clothing so it would hang properly on her, "...so I have to ask why you're here."

And how he found her in the first place. It'd taken time to find just the right location so as to be uninterrupted... the possibility of having to repeat that process was a mildly frustrating notion, which made her brow knit in a delicate way and caused her lips to twitch with a mild frown as she came to stand at her full, albeit petite, height.

He was happy that the ability to turn up the light worked, the next step to try and wake up a sleeping student if calling their name didn't work tended to not leave them with eyebrows afterwords. She seemed groggy, lethargic, almost at a complete loss of energy as she awoke, speaking a language that he didn't understand. Leaning his head to one side quizzically before she switched to basic common, Felix attempted to ascertain what language she had been speaking, he knew most, but this one was new to him. A strange feeling to a polygot, but with time he could learn the patterns.

What she said next caught him by surprise, an astute insight into his genealogy that he didn't expect from a student as new to the game as this, how had she done it? Was it simply a sense, something to do with the force? Or was she able to smell the subtle pheramonal difference in his chemical makeup like a trained animal? Either way, it was impressive, and it put Felix on the back-foot immediately when it came to finally interacting with her. But as accusations continued to roll, as she would begin to wisen to questions more appropriate. Felix's hands would fold behind his back as he would wait for his own turn to speak.

"I actually quite happen to enjoy the serene grace of places like this, my homeworld is almost nothing but desert, so lush green places like this remind me of what I'm trying to do." He would begin, "Also, I'm not human, little known group called Epicanthix, but I'm impressed you could tell. Not many could pick the difference." Especially considering that reading his mind was more or less out of the question for the student.

"Gerwald sent me, my names Felix, and, if you'll have me." Felix would reach out a hand, calling out to the beams of light he had concentrated to make the plane brighter. Diluting them and spreading them out wide it would seem from their perspective that the very sun in the sky, thousands of miles away had gotten dimmer and more relaxing as the temperature would drop with the shade he'd functionally created while the sun still beamed cloudlessly in the skies above. He was showing off, but he worked his ass off to get here.

"I was hoping I'd be able to train you. "

Homeworld... so he said it. This wasn't hers either, but that might have been obvious with the first of her words. She patiently listened to the newcomer as he explained himself, and confirmed her scenting - but what was an Epicanthix? More to learn, always more to know. The learning curve had been steep in the months since Freya had brought her to this place, the world and the galaxy around it so vast that this forest became a refuge, a home away from the trees between which she'd grown until this, the year of her first change. Sure, she had a room indoors, but abandoned it most of the time.

"I can smell it," she gave in response to his fascination that she could tell at all - to her this wasn't impressive, but the reason for it made her arms curl tighter around her midriff, "I imagine all Lupo - my people - can."

However many of them remained... but that was all she was willing to say about it, becoming grateful that he moved on from the topic of species; though it didn't so much anger her as it once did, the subject was still a difficult one. The mention of Gerwald served to take her down a few notches, such that she let go of some of the tension she was holding - the man... though he was not one of her own, per se, was like a cousin of sorts, and her guide through becoming fully that which she was in place of others that were supposed to have been there. But it was the true reason for his presence before her that gave her pause, and the flourishing command he held over the light that widened her eyes for a different reason from previous: awe, rather than surprise.

"V́atyn..."

The word was solemn, and breathless. A clear display of the Godess' power... though she had just as well learned that most would see this as an expression of the thing they called the Force, Her Light was the first thing she thought of. And to think that she had invoked Aerðs in sheer surprise only minutes before... she squeezed her eyes shut, kicking herself within for her earlier behaviour.

"...Felix. I'm... sorry."

She looked genuinely remorseful.

"I, Alfhildr Ótta, would be happy to have you train me," she itched at her ankle with the other foot, "but please just call me Alfie," she quickly added. She'd had enough of her name being butchered to last her into the next life.

"Well Alfhildr Ótta... Alfie," He would say with skillful prestige, he was an aristocrat after all. "Seeing as I'm now your teacher, There are a couple of things Id like to cover before we begin with anything, firstly, I'd like to get to know you more, both what training you've already had and just about you personally. Secondly a warning that you're my first student, but I do intent to push you, hard. I suffered for a long time with an inept teacher and I have no intention of being the same.... Lastly, I'll begin teaching you some basics, but probably wont be teaching you how to control light as i do immediately. Its somewhat of a family secret, and its rather dangerous, but, one day, I promise you'll know it." He would nod, slightly sorrowful that he would have to hold back, but, he knew the power was not only advanced... but dangerous. It had almost killed him enough times when he hadn't used it on a proper foundation of defensive force powers.

He'd take a moment, allow her to compute what he had said and react in turn as he would think about where to move on from here, he had no idea of her skills from Gerwald or other training she may have had. He couldn't help but think of the advantages that Lupe had over humans, strength, speed and much more tightly wound muscle fibers that gave them a certain spring in their movement that he found difficult to overcome. How fast Gerwald had been during their own bout had taken him totally by surprise. Perhaps that was something they could work on together, develop that natural agility into something preternatural.

After her response Felix would begin softly, wanting to lead by example. "So, while you know my name, I'm also the leader of a guild-house who produces experimental weapons and technology for the CIS, defensive only. I was sold into slavery by the hutts when i was young along with the rest of my family because we double crossed them... my family history is... speckled. To say the least. My goal over the last seven years has been to take control of my family estate and use their resources to develop ways of turning polluted or desert worlds into places like this." he'd indicate around to the beautiful forest that surrounded the two of them.

"As far as skills go, I'm a duelist by trade, Djem So and Makashi are my bread and butter with a lightsaber. I managed to trade blows with Gerwald when I was but a knight and I've survived battles with Darths, Not without injury, but she felt it too by the end..." He could still recall his battle with the Maws hand of Death. He'd been left on the ground near unconscious after his blast, and she'd received burns to the vast majority of her body. Not to mention he'd run her through with her own sword, which helped. He was pretty sure he still had scars up his arms from trying to block her lightning...

"So, where would you like to begin?"

He'd smile broadly, hoping to put her on the backfoot and pushing his student to take initiative, to know what she wanted to learn and to learn more about who she was. The Exhilaration of new experience filling his mind and pushing him forward.

Hearing her name handled with precise pronunciation was mildly surprising, but she was grateful that he could handle it. That would make this whole arrangement easier with one less irritation to account for, but far more surprising was the promise of knowing to control the light as he did, someday. That she would have to work hard was no surprise at all.

"Everything I know" she paused, "nearly everything I learned from my brother," she frowned delicately but pressed on, "until he was taken."

She might not be standing here, so far from the lands of her birth if not for that fact. If not for Freya Drage and her friendship and care.

"In the years before my first change, I was taught to turn myself into another common creature of the forests of Islimore - the fox." One of a few ways they had concealed themselves, "the totem is in my room; I haven't needed to use it here, with no need to hide." And as far as she had been able to gather Naboo had no foxes. "He also taught me to run, and some of how to maintain our hidden places," how did she describe that? She didn't know the common words, "Such as making the forest grow in such a way that it was thick and dark, and learning to see the permanent illusions that also kept us safe. I only know how maintaining the illusion works, and how to see it, not how to create the illusions… and with my brother gone, so too were the illusions."

If not for her care in remaining concealed for the months until Freya found her, her days might have been numbered until she was taken, too. "I was only allowed to enter Freann in specific circumstances, and I was taught to do this too," you could not stay in the realm of the spirits for too, too long lest your soul became a permanent resident, "but the very first thing Åsmund taught me was to feel the world around me and those within it."

She would have been given more, but, "These things were all he could manage to show me in twelve years, because other things have more importance," Alfie put on a light frown, her brow creasing faintly; she hadn't talked about the full extent of her identity, hadn't imparted such facts even to the few friends she had begun to make, "I am the last female of my Clan, Felix. and I am Draoidae - a spiritual leader of my people. It was these things that were more important."

She knew far far more about rites, ceremonies, and traditions, and the administering thereof, than she did of what most of the galaxy called 'The Force'.

"Oh, I also learned to hunt with a bow, but my bow was left behind."

Learning to hunt as a wolf had somewhat replaced it, but only because she had no other option. A bow was quieter, and conserved energy that would otherwise have been spent in the chase... as exhilarating that was. Now it was his turn to speak of himself and what he knows and Alfie became the listener. As she listened, she found they were a little similar in some ways. His goal was admirable, and not unlike her own.

She knew about the lightsaber - she had seen enough of them around, dangling off of belts, brandished in other people's spars in her time here, but terms like 'Djem So' and "Makashi" drew a blank. So did 'Darths'. Then the question came, and she had a hard time finding an answer because she didn't know what was possible but... he had been speaking of fighting, and that had been Åsmund's promise to her, to teach her to fight once she had gone through her first change.

"I would like to begin with learning how to fight," she decided, "but what are 'Djem So', 'Makashi', and 'Darths'?"

As she spoke that her brother had been taken, the word tore open a wound within Felix that he thought he'd closed, his expression became more sober, she'd almost be able to smell the melencholy on his person as he almost pained for the other members of his family that were lost and scattered across space. He'd listen to her with attentive ears. Admiring her skills and the story of her life, it sounded like it was a hard one, one of the harder one's he'd heard for certain.

"Helping things grow quickly and strongly are certainly things I could help you perfect the arts of, Illusions to that end have been one of my specialties, in a sense." Like an artist wielding a paint-brush the world would twist and contort into a spray of colours which would combine to create a facsimilie of a Naboo city street in the middle of the forest, no sound, but people walking around the two of them, parting for them as speeder bikes would swerve around the duo, phasing into existence at the beginning of the glade before vanishing afterwards. It was an incredibly complex, moving, visual illusion... it could fool a camera, but it was shallow, lacking substance.

"The concentration is like trying to focus on a surgery, but it holds up in a pinch."

Learning about her using a bow was almost exciting, on Ryloth Bowmasters were more common among the tribes, as well as the Daughters of Ashla of the Dathomiri tribes which nested on their moon. "A Bow is something that we should be able to make work, I could source you one if you like, you can do a lot with a bow. Witch Tribes made their wicked bows just as lethal as a lightsaber in their hands. And I can teach you how to alter the course of an arrow and make it invisible." He added as he contemplated the complexity of a weapon that had existed since the dawn of time if it were still used today.

He could see the glaze in her eyes a little as he used words that were a little more specialized, he had thought that she would have some founding in the vocabulary of a force user. Felix wouldn't make that mistake again.

"A Darth, is a Rank of Sith, they wield extremely powerful magics and are incredibly dangerous. Where you and I may see the force or the power of Ashla as a natural power that we bond with and use. The Sith twist it and use it like a weapon against its will. We call that perversion the Dark Side of the Force. And Darths are Masters in it." Felix would draw his light-saber, the delicate filigrees hilt making it look like a priceless artifact.

"Makashi and Djem So are two different forms, two styles that you can fight with a Light-saber. Makashi is an aggressive, dueling style that is pretty good at focusing on defeating a single opponent, especially others who use a Light-saber. Djem So is about attacking at the same time as defending, luring enemies into counterattacks and winning in a single blow. There are Seven of these Forms which create the foundation of fighting with a light-saber." He'd finish, flourishing his weapon as the golden blade would extend like shining amber.

"There are forms for Defense, Offense, Evasion, Blocking, using the force and a balance between them all. Which interests you? And Why"

His question would linger, a test as well as an honest question. Why someone fought in Felix's experience meant a whole lot more than how. In his experience, there were few honestly bad reasons to fight, even attempting to avenge something was a powerful reason. It gave a person strength, and gave Felix the best method with which to push his new student.
