Private Mission: Naria Prime, Iona Starchaser, and Balun Dashiell

The Sith Empire was unlikely to be paying attention of any kind to Denab.

At least, that was Master Farr's gamble. With Galactic Alliance forces attacking not one but three nearby star systems—Sluis Van, Echnos, and Dorvalla—she was counting on being able to slip one more behind enemy lines without notice or resistance. This one was not a full invasion force, but a small crew on an impounded Imperial craft. One of the Jedi archeologists that worked with Master Farr had come to supervise the other two Jedi and archeologist that she had selected for this mission. He was a Chiss who went by core name Sodus.

As their shared ship still shuddered lightly in hyperspace, he gathered everyone in the lounge area.

"Thank you all again for your presence today," he began. "Master Farr believes that it is imperative that we find the Denab Rakatan device, secure it, and whisk it out of Sith territory. I agree. In the wrong hands, a device with its ability to automate evolution's natural course and generate completely unique species on command could be weaponized and used to overpower the most equipped army.

"Reports are that the device has been malfunctioning almost nonstop since the Cold War by generating species out of control. Perhaps then it has been little more than an annoyance to the Sith, but equally possible is that they have or are working on finding a way to regulate the device. In either case, we must bring it back to Field Camp Nu."

Naria leaned back in her seat and picked flaking polish off her thumb. This job had seemed a lot less risky in the debriefing she had received. She kept her minor displeasure from crinkling her eyebrows-- they always betrayed her emotions-- and reminded herself that she had already signed on.

It was bad for business to be seen backing out.

"It'll be no problem." As long as the jedi do their job... "Energy like that lets out signal." A square device in her lap let out a searching whirl. "We'll pick it up as soon as we hit the surface. You get me in, I'll get it out," she promised, earnest and confident.

"I'm Naria, by the way," she said to the other two. Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser Balun Dashiell Balun Dashiell

Iona listened carefully. Salvage. Recovery. Ruins. These were all things she was familiar with as a Warden. Travelling the hyperlanes meant one saw and experienced some ancient and unusual things. Rakatan device seemed odd but the archeologist in the group seemed very confident on how to find it. That even basic radars and scanners would pick up on the energy output. With that news Iona knew even with her limited use of the Force she would be able to pick up on it as well.

"If you lead the way, I can guard your back."

I hope.

"Iona Starchaser." Hand outstretched in greeting. "Nice to meet you Naria. Do you do this often? Item and ancient artifact recovery?"

Balun Dashiell found himself unexpectedly swept into a new adventure alongside Iona Starchaser, the invitation arriving as a surprise after so much time apart. Their paths had diverged, yet he vividly remembered the promise he had made to her—that should she ever need his help, all she had to do was call. When that call came, he answered without hesitation, true to his word.

Their mission brought them into the company of two others, Naria Prime and Efret Farr. Though strangers to Balun, he quickly understood the seriousness of their shared purpose. They were tasked with retrieving a Force-imbued artifact, a relic whose immense power carried equal measures of danger and sanctity. Such items were a double-edged sword; they held great potential but also dire risks, from unleashing malevolent spirits bound by the dark side to corrupting the very individuals who sought to wield them. Balun knew the stakes. Every step of the journey bore the weight of preventing this artifact from falling into the wrong hands, for its misuse could tip the balance of power toward chaos.

It wasn't until the briefing revealed the artifact's true nature—a Denab Rakatan device—that Balun's interest sharpened. His head lifted, curiosity sparking in his eyes. "Wait, a Rakatan artifact?" he asked, his tone tinged with intrigue. The revelation caught him off guard, and he pressed further, wanting to understand. "What exactly was the artifact used for? I thought this was supposed to be Force-related." He knew little about Rakatan history or the enigmatic technologies they had wielded in ages past, but the mention of their name stirred questions he couldn't ignore.

Naria's skin was soft and warm, a stark contrast to the training callouses she expected to feel on the jedi's hands. "It's all part of the job-- you need to collect them to sell them," she chattered easily, hesitating only to add, "I can't say I make it a habit to go into active war zones though. I'll trust you have it all under control." A nervous tick crept into her smile.

She really was trusting them here.

She smoothed out her palms on her pants and resumed her easy chatter. "It creates life. Unnaturally, of course-- with the force. Done responsibly it can rehabilitate damaged ecosystems in a fraction of the time it would take naturally. The Hand of God, some cultures call it. It belongs under a pile of beskar."

She stood up, ready to get this over with.

Sodus nodded after Naria made her assessment. Though he didn't agree with her suggested mode of management, he did agree that something needed to be done to do so. Far before this starship had taken off from Eiattu 6, Sodus and Efret had discussed methods of controlling the Denab device's power. Every one they had thought up was purely theoretical now, but hopefully at least one or two would transcend that realm and be practical. They had agreed to start with the containment procedures that would be both least destructive and most easily reversible, then progress to more drastic means as needed.

"When used responsibly and tuned correctly," he added, "yes. Master Farr believes that, with time and ample study, the New Jedi Order can use the Denab device with such competence, specifically to repair worlds ravaged by the Sith and other Dark siders by rebuilding balanced ecosystems from little more than burnt dirt." It would drastically reduce the amount of time, focus, and even number of Jedi needed to pull off such a miracle.

His gaze shifted to the two young Jedi as Ms. Prime moved to seemingly excuse herself. He wouldn't keep her for this part of the briefing as it didn't pertain directly to her. "The Rakata were known to history for Force-powered technologies which they used in galactic conquest. For a reason that is not fully understood, their species began to lose connection with the Force, and thus could no longer use their technology, or control it in the case of their evolution devices. Once we find it, I want to see if it would be possible to temporarily sever it from the Force, thereby rendering it powerless until we can get it back to Field Camp Nu." Perhaps the Sith had already tried that, but it was still worth a try. The Dark side and the Light often affected the same thing differently.

"Otherwise, a layer or two of nullification resin might have similar effect."

Either way, they didn't need this ship turning into an ark on the way back to base.

In many ways, Iona was a pacifist. She only fought when absolutely pushed to the limit, and even then it was with a force pike. So when Miss Prime mentioned that herself and Balun would have the situation handled, the best she could offer was a very not reassuring smile. The teenager wasn't going to make the other feel bad, that wasn't her intent.

Debriefed by Miss Farr, she looked over at Bale. Iona wasn't sure what her friend had been up to, but she hoped his head was enough in the game to focus and help find this artifact. When Bale was distracted....well, he was distracted and frankly useless.

Not having many questions, she nodded once.

"Nullify the item. Understood. I think we can handle this."

Balun stood quietly, his expression thoughtful as he absorbed the gravity of the conversation. Rakatan technology—a relic of an ancient and powerful civilization—was steeped in mystery and danger. Artifacts and devices powered by the Force itself held the potential to be wondrous tools of progress, but in the wrong hands, they could unleash devastation. Balun needed no further persuasion. This mission wasn't a simple academic pursuit or routine exploration; it carried far greater stakes. The chance to avert catastrophe weighed heavily on his mind.

"The Hand of God, huh?" Balun murmured, his gaze flicking briefly to Iona Starchaser Iona Starchaser before settling on Naria Prime Naria Prime and Efret Farr Efret Farr . He considered the artifact's potential applications, his voice soft but clear as he shared his thought. "Something like that… it could bring life back to worlds scarred by the Bryn'adûl's terraforming." The words hung in the air, a fleeting thought voiced before he dismissed it with a subtle shrug and a wave of his hand, as if brushing the notion aside.

Turning back to Naria and Efret, he offered them a small but sincere smile. "Thank you for explaining more about the Rakatan technologies. I appreciate the insight." There was a spark of anticipation in his tone, the hint of curiosity only a scholar of the Force could carry. He felt a sense of purpose now—eager, perhaps, to see this elusive artifact with his own eyes and study its resonance in the currents of the Force.

"I'm with Iona," he said, his resolve evident as he glanced toward his companion once more. "The sooner we get this technology secured, the better. I'm ready when you all are."
