A tray-planted Wroshyr tree that has been meticulously cultivated, trained, and pruned to maintain miniature size, while mirroring the shape of a full-size tree.
Long-lived: When properly cared for, the miniature Wroshyr tree may live for a very long time (100 + years).
Requires care: In order to maintain the small size, the Wroshyr must be carefully pruned to keep the shape of the tree's crown (leaves). Roots may need to be kept small during re-planting. If not maintained properly, it will grow out of its miniature shape.
Vulnerable to tree parasites, such as the Wroshyr Louse – they may kill the small tree.
Though the Wookies are quite well-known for their massive Wroshyr trees, there is also a practice of keeping them miniaturized for ornamental purposes. A coastal variant of the Wroshyr is generally used, due to it's smaller size – and can be specially cultivated for this purpose. It is an intricate process of root trimming/training and tree pruning. However, once the miniature Wroshyr is well established in its pot, it is fairly easy to care for with proper tools and training. These small varieties mimic the fully grown Wroshyr tree, with dense trunk and a pleasant spread of leaves.
One such tree was given to the Order of the Silver Jedi upon their arrival on Kashyyyk, and is still on display in their temple, Silver Rest. The Wookies were willing to teach their process to a few of the Silver Rest gardeners, and they were able to grow several small Wroshyr trees as a result. To this day, the practice carries on in the temple greenhouses, and these trees are cared for with skill and dedication. Members of the Silver Jedi are welcome to learn to care for these trees and keep one of their own if they wish. And, these trees may be given to allies and other dignitaries as a memento of Kashyyyk and the Order.
